A man looking for redemption Colt spent eight months in prison for trusting the wrong woman, nearly bringing down his entire motorcycle club in the process. Now he needs to fix the MC’s cash flow problems or watch the only family he’s ever known fall apart. Meeting Krista wasn’t part of his mission. Falling for her could mean his destruction. A single mom trying to get by Krista was … mom trying to get by
Krista was ready to leave hooking behind when her ex cleaned out her bank account. Stuck working to provide for her daughter, she protects herself with one rule: never get involved with someone at the club.
Not that she wants to. Sex has become a job, a means to an end.
One night together as an escape
Krista’s body wakes at Colt’s touch, allowing her to imagine a life after the MC. A future. A happily-ever-after, if only briefly. Krista brings out feelings in Colt he forgot could exist. But just as he begins to trust again, Krista’s truth is revealed–testing the very boundaries of Colt’s jealousy and faith.

Okay, so this is a decent MC read, I just had a few issues with it. I have updated my reading progress with my thoughts. There might be a mild spoiler in them and this review. Fair warning.
What I liked: the writing style and the story flowed well and kept my interest for the most part, even if it was a little dry at times. I liked the story structure and the way the MC was protrayed, it seemed quite realistic (if a bit soft). There were no spelling, editing or grammar errors that I noticed. I also like the dual narration. I liked the characters as individuals and their personalities, but my issues came when they interacted with each other.
What didn’t work for me: There was no sweetness or kindness between the characters, they felt static and cold. There was WAY TOO MUCH push and pull, and it felt like Cole and Krista were more of an obligation to each other than in love. They did not get together until the last paragraph of the last chapter; and only after Cole spent a lot of money buying Krista. I am so upset that Cole treated Krista like a hooker. He tried to buy her off at every turn even when he said he loved her; he was such an a$&. I am also upset at Krista for accepting him after everything. She said she wanted love and respect but I am not sure she got it. Sure she and Becky are taken care of, but that is money not love.
What frustrates me the most us I really want to like this story and these characters, but they way they are presented to me I just can’t. This story had so much potential and thus author does as well. Will I read more of this series/author? I am on the fence on that. Do I want to read more about this couple? No. I am still upset at their behaviour and choices. Will I read this book again? No. **shrugs**
Debut Author Sarah Hawthorne has a great future ahead of her if this book is any indication of what’s to come.
Colt & Krista are both likable characters and their story will pull at your heart strings. First we have Krista who is a single mom doing whatever she can to support her daughter. “A mothers love knows no bounds” a truer statement cannot be made about Krista, I instantly fell in love with her character, being a single mom isn’t easy but not only does she have to contend with that but she has to put up with all kinds of crap from her ex who is currently a drugged up Meth-head. It seems like Krista cannot catch a break but then we meet Colt. Now Colt, he’s like a protective papa bear when it comes to Krista and her daughter, Becky. It’s rather funny since Colt is a big bad biker that never even set eyes on Krista or Becky before the night he prevented her ex, Robbie, from doing anything to her.
This story had quite a bit of angst in it, Robbie the druggie that takes whatever he can from his ex-wife while he neglects his daughter, Colt is on a mission to find out who is stealing money from the Storm Kings before the Damon Horde will patch them in, and if he fails he himself will be out of the MC, and Krista who works for the Storm Kings in more than just the bartender and cleaning lady capacity that Colt thinks. All of these topics makes this a fast paced joy ride that will have you battling several different emotions.
