From the New York Times #1 bestselling author, Ilona Andrews, comes a new tale from the Innkeeper Chronicles “Ilona Andrews’s books are guaranteed good reads.”–Patricia Briggs, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Fire Touched Dina DeMille may run the nicest Bed and Breakfast in Red Deer, Texas, but she caters to a very particular kind of guest… the kind that no one on Earth is supposed to … kind that no one on Earth is supposed to know about. Guests like a former intergalactic tyrant with an impressive bounty on her head, the Lord Marshal of a powerful vampire clan, and a displaced-and-superhot werewolf; so don’t stand too close, or you may be collateral damage.
But what passes for Dina’s normal life is about to be thrown into chaos. First, she must rescue her long-distant older sister, Maud, who’s been exiled with her family to a planet that functions as the most lawless penal colony since Botany Bay. Then she agrees to help a guest whose last chance at saving his civilization could bring death and disaster to all Dina holds dear. Now Gertrude Hunt is under siege by a clan of assassins. To keep her guests safe and to find her missing parents, Dina will risk everything, even if she has to pay the ultimate price. Though Sean may have something to say about that!

Dina DeMille’s inn is normally pretty quiet but that is all about to change. She has to rescue her older sister and niece. Then she agrees to help a guest whose species is on the brink of death and will bring danger to the inn and Earth. Also she has to deal with her whatever is going on between her and Sean.
Wow, this book was nonstop action and I loved it. In this book we not only get more alien species but we also get to meet Dina’s sister Maud. I loved Maud and her daughter Helen. Maud is a fierce fighter and mother. I can’t wait to read the next book, which is her book, because I really want to know more about her, especially if she chooses Arland.
We also finally get some progression on Dina and Sean’s relationship. The last book ended with Sean being freed from his debt to the Merchants but he isn’t the same man anymore. His travels have changed him forever and he has to learn to deal with the changes. Dina and Sean’s relationship is still very new but I really hope we see more of them in future books.
This is a fascinating world filled with a lot of action. Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down and I will be jumping right into the next one. I can’t get enough of this world and characters. Overall, I highly recommend this series if you like urban fantasy with vampires, werewolves, and aliens.
One Fell Sweep is Book 3 of The Innkeeper Series. Be prepared for a treat.
So this book was bitter sweet to me because from what I have seen it will be the last book about Dina and her inn. I am just not ready to let this part of the story go…..
I aboslutely loved Maud (Dina’s sister) and everything the story brought with it. Dina’s dry humor with Maud and the slight angst between Maud and Arland. This book was the total package!!
Now that I have finished these three I can’t say for certain if I will read book four because it is no longer going to be about Dina and the Inn. All in all if this was going to be a trilogy of sorts I would be totally happy with the conclusion but that doesn’t mean I don’t want more.
This will not be my last Illona Andrews book I can say that for certain.
Each novel of this series is better than the one before it. This one at least had our main protagonists spending a lot of time with each other.
I loved it!! This is a wonderful addition to this series by Ilona Andrews. I think it would be best if a person read the earlier books i the series, but you could get by with just reading this one. Well, then you probably would want to read the earlier ones too . I literally have to drop whatever I might be reading and jump right into Ilona’s book as soon as it arrives. The characters are so interesting, and their world so realistic, I can feel my reality slip away as I slip into theirs. I heartily recommend this book, and the entire series!
I love this series. Excellent writing.
I have loved every Illona Andrews book I have read. They have great characters, major, minor and antagonists. The worlds are interesting and the plots are great. It’s not a question of if I buy one of their books but when. In fact, the very first ebook I paid full price for was the first book in the Innkeeper series and and that was by accident. When I read it, I was so happy I had made that mistake.
I love this series. Just. Love. It.
It’s about a woman who owns/runs a sentient magic inn for intergalactic guests, including a werewolf, a kinda-vampire and a maniacal former empress on the run. There’s everything you want in a urban fantasy/sci-fi book: action, danger, a hint of romance and laughs.
Read. Love it. Thank me later.
The series continues to improve. Though a lot of the romance is based more on lust and hormones than anything real (none of the romantic couples ever actually have a conversation about anything other than the conflict or really interact other than oggling or flirting), and there are some serious issues with world-building (such the relative physical strengths of the different species varying significantly…like a human female going toe-to-toe in a swordfight against a super-soldier vampire who can lift hundreds of pounds without breaking a sweat), but I am enjoying it.
Honestly, the best part are the characters. I just love them and want to see more of them. While there are issues with the books, I’m willing to overlook them simply because I adore them. It’s been a long time since I’ve found a set of characters that engaged me so thoroughly.
CONTENT WARNING: Though I read a lot of places that this is a clean series (and it has been up to this point), there was a graphic sex scene in this one. It’s short and easy to skip over, but it’s there. And it was really disappointing. I seriously don’t understand the point of it. The scene was graphic enough to irritate those who don’t want the sexiness, but not enough to draw in readers who want graphic content. I would have been okay with a fade-to-black, but nope. It went all in.
Ilona Andrews writes these complicated, fast-paced stories that keep me up all night because I pretty much have to swallow them in one big gulp. SO fantastic!
Light, fun, read the whole series and can’t wait for more.
New and great characters, keeps me coming back for more.
This is a wild adventure tale with lots of magic and unexpected twists. I have so much fun reading this series and this book only expands on the world that the authors have created. There are lots of unanswered questions so I am anxiously waiting on the next book which focuses on Maude. I cannot recommend this book enough it made me stay up until 4 am in the morning and then start reading it again as soon as I sat down to eat breakfast.
Dina is so low angst it makes her easy to read and follow. This book gets to me for a few reasons, but there are two big ones. 1} The overlying plot, finding Dina’s parents, has finally made headway in the most unexpected of ways; but when you add in something like that (the precursor to the hint) and spend time on it the way Ilona Andrews did, it has to come back in the most…mystical of ways and she delivered big time. (sorry for vagueness, but I don’t want to spoil) And I have no clue what direction that will go which I love. 2} Dina’s…incident (which shall not be named in case someone calls spoilers on me) is so consuming, but is completely understandable when you think about the bond itself. The emotional draw and crescendo is a testament to both author and character, which is also the author’s doing.
The world building and storytelling of Ilona Andrews never fails to impress me. I’ve never regretted reading one of their books.
not sure how this author(s) can create so many different worlds. love this series as well
One Fell Sweep is a free serial available at Ilona Andrews’ website http://www.ilona-andrews.com, then conveniently formatted in ebook form and published to the masses. Honestly, I am completely willing to scream TAKE MUH MONAH for it to be all nicely formatted and put on my kindle. I also really love the warm and fuzzies I get knowing that I supported an author that provides me an escape.
Opening One Fell Sweep takes you to strange lands with wonderfully diverse characters. Slipping into One Fell Sweep is easy and feels like home. Every new book in this series makes me fall in love all over again. This particular installment really seemed to have a little something extra. Character growth and world building are equally impressive in the Innkeeper Chronicles. The depth and strength in the various layers of this book are truly awe-inspiring.
One Fell Sweep encompasses everything I love. Diversity. Amazing characters. SO much to love and nothing I didn’t enjoy.
