What a spectral-ly good time
This was, IMO, a bit more of a romantic comedy with a mystical twist than a paranormal romance.
Lucius was cursed by a Crow medicine woman to the in-between plane. Not a man and not a ghost – he is to spend eternity within the walls of his beloved hotel.
Tallulah has a gift she can speak with specters, see astral planes and apparitions. Most of the time she can suppress her gifts but it seems Lucius is not about to be suppressed.
This was an entertaining read – I really liked Lucius character and Fanny (I want a fanny of my own) Tallulah was a kick she never knew if she was coming or going poor thing. The story-line was entertaining and easy to follow with some terrific secondary plot twists. I also enjoyed the secondary characters.
A wonderful read that is guaranteed to entertain
This was a fun book that kept me guessing until the end, about how everything would be resolved. I listened to the audio version, and loved the narrator’s interpretation of the male characters’ voices. It was a bit distracting at first when he did the females, but I quickly got used to it, and was engrossed in the story. I will definitely be looking for more books from this author to read in the future!
What a fun read! It has well-rounded characters, romance, fantasy, mystery, suspense…and an adorable pug. What more could you ask for in an escapist read? This was the first book I read by this author, but I really enjoyed The Haunting of Hotel Labelle, and look forward to reading more from Sharon Buchbinder!
Tallulah Thompson, with her Masters of Management in Hospitality, has been hired to investigate why remodeling on an historic hotel has suffered many delays. She has her own consulting company and she, along with her pug Franny, head to the Hotel LaBelle. Beginning with her first tour of the hotel, she begins to see visions of a man who she learns is Lucius Stewart, former owner of the hotel who disappeared a hundred years ago. Tallulah is of Native American origin and she inherited the ability to see things that others do not from her grandmother. Lucius has been cursed and will remain so until he finds his true love. Can Tallulah help Lucius leave the “between world” and help him save the hotel? A bit complicated, but a pleasant paranormal story.
