Real life doesn’t come with a playbook. Eva Papageorgiou has one goal: to make it through her senior year of high school unseen and unscathed. But when her strategy to stay out of the limelight is derailed by rampant rumors, she’s forced to change tactics. Her new game plan is to keep everyone at arm’s length. Especially boys. So when she’s partnered up in class with the hot as hell varsity … in class with the hot as hell varsity quarterback, she pushes and pushes.
Until he pushes back.
Rob Falls just wants to fit in. With his teammates, with his friends, with everyone. His image as the quintessential jock makes him feel like a fraud. Especially since it’s the only reason all the girls at school want him, except the one girl he dreams about. She wants nothing to do with him. When he’s forced to tutor the class pariah, he realizes it’s time to get in the game instead of standing on the sidelines.
She’s going to help him get exactly what he wants, whether she knows it or not.

Amazing story. Epic writing. Must read. I absolutely loved this YA romance. Rob – swoon! The crazy ending has me anxious to jump into the next book, which I thankfully already have signed, ready and waiting. Kata Cuic knows how to make you feel all the feels. I want to be her friend. Lol.
Highly recommend.
No unusual drama, great read you get both points of views from both characters and sometimes an outside character.
It’s great but will, most likely, annoy the heck out of you at one point or another.

This is the 1st in a new series. Eva and Rob meet the 1st day of freshman year and are in the same classes. All Eva wants is complete final year unscathed, while Rob is a quarterback, who I felt sorry for in the way in which Eva treated him, although the reason for her being this way is dealt with in this storyline. This story does end with a cliffhanger. This is a well written story which is a great YA read, with engaging and realistic characters, and this is an emotionally charged story which pulls at the heartstrings throughout. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend.
Angsty, heartbreaking, and addicting! Kata Cuic has completed hooked me on Rob and Eva’s story! First and Goal was absolutely amazing!
Eva and Rob meet the first day of high school. She’s the bullied girl hoping to just make it through each day. Rob is the new kid in school. There because his father wanted him to have to attend the best football school. These two were meant to be from their very first meeting. However, through most of this book I wanted to slap them both upside the head and yell at them.
Rob and Eva’s story deal with real life issues. Bullying is painful and real. The emotional scars it causes are worse than physical scars. It causes self doubt and self esteem problems. Eva carries this with her all during school. Rob while he seems like the jerk football player he hides so much under his mask. Rumors no matter what they’re about are always damaging.
Rob takes the roll as Eva’s protector because she refuses to defend herself and he has been in love with her since they ran into each other their freshman year. Eva has secreting been in love with him as well. Terrible things happen to her because she was trying to make Rob jealous. When these two finally get together I’m pretty sure I yelled finally.
The cliffhanger! OMG! I thing Cuic ripped out my heart. The heartbreak and pain everyone was feeling. My heart literally broke during that last scene.
Rob Falls is the star quarterback and constantly has girls falling over themselves to steal an ounce of his attention, but the only one he really wants to catch the attention of is Eva Papageorgiou. He has been carrying a secret crush around for her since ninth grade and has never had the nerve to make his move. But with his friends constant badgering and them coincidentally being paired up in Biology he thinks now is the time to make his feelings known.
But his plan hits a road block when he learns that Eva thinks he is just like the rest of the jocks at their school, the kind of guy who uses girls and tosses them away once they’ve had their fill. She has dated one and he was unkind to her and now she has made it her mission to avoid them at all costs. Which makes winning her over even tougher than Rob had anticipated.
But he isn’t giving up, he wants his girl and if it takes a little more time to win her heart, then he will wait… however long it takes.
First and Goal is the first installment in the Moving the Chains series, and it shines a light on high school students Eva and Rob. The pair met their freshman year of high school and both have been crushing on one another since. But neither has ever been brave enough to go after what they wanted. Whether it be because of opportunity, dating other people, or misunderstanding. But now they are in their senior year and found themselves joined together for the sake of school work, and it doesn’t take long for their crushes to make a reappearance. But past hurts and self doubt are also finding their way into the mix and it has these two hesitant about their feelings for one another. But as time passes and a newly minted friendship takes hold these two start to gain ground to what they have wanted all along…they are so close to having it all. But then tragedy strikes and we are left hanging in the balance wondering if their time is up already? Or is this just another tragic hurdle to overcome? I cannot wait to dive into the second installment and see where it leads me, hopefully a happier place then it left me. Highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it’s bound to keep your eyes glued to the pages the whole way through!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
This YA romance was an amazing read. You are vested from the first page. Rob is so sweet, shy and kinda geeky for a football player but that’s what made him so endearing. Evie, had a wall up like Fort Knox and to watch it be chipped away piece by piece melted my heart. You won’t want to put it down and the ending will have you wanting for more. I was given this arc from a new to me author and I’m so lucky to have been introduced to and look forward to reading more of her work. Highly recommend reading this book!
What a ride this book took me on! I felt as if I was back in high school with these characters. The ending completely shocked me and I’m off to go one click the next book so I can see how things are going with everyone. This is my first read by this author and I am now an avid fan of her words.
Loved this book!
Fantastic series opener. This book is sweet and funny and filled with realistic and flawed characters. And one hell of a twist. #NeverSawItComing #HolyCowBatman!
#MustRead
Short review. First book in the Moving the Chains series. Rob is such a sweet and caring character with a big heart that any girl would fall for, Eva underneath her smart-alike attitude tough persona is a caring person. Since freshmen year Rob has been trying to come out of his very shy shell and ask Eva out, when the two get partner together he sees his opportunity to go for the only girl he has ever wanted. I liked Alex and how he’s been trying to help Rob work the nerve to ask Eva out, he’s a good friend even if he doesn’t let people see the real underneath his skirt chasing persona. I couldn’t understand why Mike was the only friend of Rob’s who wasn’t helping him, it’s like he didn’t trust him even though him, Rob, Alex and Jeremy have all known each other since they were kids.
There’s a cliffhanger that will leave you shocked and purchasing the second book.
I really enjoyed this book from the angsty teenager drama to the humor, romance, and everything in between. Definitely a good story line with a great message behind the story regarding rumors and sharing thoughts and feelings with others. The book started out really strong but seemed to drag through the middle as you just wanted to find out how things work out. Can’t wait to check out more from this series.
