Alone No More
The cruelties of life have stripped her of a family; but can she take on the burden of the remnants of another family–of orphan children? Characters from previous novels reprise roles but any overlapping actions are fully explained, allowing this tale to stand on its own. Narrator Paul Curtis lends his talents to the characters as the new teacher struggles to make her way. Author Vivi Holt once more shows the exigencies of prairie travel and homesteading inflicting their hardships but human resiliance ultimately prevails.
Very good book! Enjoyable read with great characters.
A very sweet story of a teacher who takes in six orphans and the handsome rancher who helps out. Neither have an inkling for love. But that doesn’t stop the heart. I received a complimentary audio and I am reviewing voluntarily.
A beautifully heartwarming story that will lift your spirits and give you hope.
Margaret Hutchins is the school teacher in Cutter’s Creek, Montana. Heath Moore is a lonely bachelor who owns a huge ranch nearby. When a group of 6 orphan children arrives in the small community, nobody is able to take them all in. After they are separated, they runaway at every chance to spend time together.
Margaret (Meg) feels led to volunteer to take all six children into the farmhouse that has been left for the school’s use. She really doesn’t know anything about raising children, but feels that this is her calling. Heath is attracted to Meg and seems to care for the children as well.
The story is predictable, but wonderfully written. As the children flourish under Meg’s care, Heath feels more and more attracted to her. All romance readers know how the story will end, but it doesn’t make it any less satisfying.
Wonderful characters, great story and perfect narration make this the perfect quick read when you need hope in your life! I was given the chance to listen to this audiobook by the author and chose to review it.
4 stars
I purchased the short novella Cutter’s Creek Book 11:Season of Love by Vivi Holt and this review was given freely.
Love brings lonely school teacher Meg, rancher Heath and 6 orphans together at Christmas time. This is a sweet and fast paced romance highlighting the potential trials and injuries a new mother of six children could experience in the pioneer west as they learn to accept, trust and love her.
This short story is so full of love and compassion that my heart felt quite full after reading it. Vivi Holt has captured an often forgotten thing, that of caring for one’s fellow man, woman and child.
In the story Margaret, who is a single lady and the town’s school teacher meets up with Heath, a rancher. The attraction for each other is there from the beginning but neither of them act on it.
Margaret takes a family of orphaned children into her home and into her heart rather than see them split up. She thinks at this will negate any chances she has of finding a husband but you can guess what really happens, after all, this is a historical romance.
I found the book to be engrossing and entertaining, sometimes feeling quite sad but often chuckling at some of the things that were going on but on a continuous basis there is a message of hope.
The interaction between all of the characters made this a lovely story and I am happy to recommend it.
