I hear screams in my head. I see blood on my hands. When I look in the mirror I see a stranger. How is it that I can remember bits and pieces of my life, but nothing of any importance and nothing that makes any sense? Everything is twisted and nothing is right. I’m choking with every breath I take, suffocating on the unknown. Two days ago, everything changed. Two days ago, the people I should trust … ago, the people I should trust the most became strangers in my convoluted head. The dreams I have can’t be real. The fleeting memories that whisper through my mind are scary and wrong…they have to be. If they aren’t, I have something much worse to fear than my fractured mind. I need to find out the truth, even if it destroys me.
I’ve been told my name is Ravenna Duskin. I’m eighteen years old and I live in a prison…

Let me start off by saying this is NOT a love story. No love story entwined where the two will run off in the sunset holding hands. This is not full of rainbows and unicorns that will make you smile. Not. At. All.
What this story is is a dark thrilling mystery. It is pure torture. From the moment you start to read this book, you will be confused. You will insist on knowing what the heck is happening and why. Be patient young grasshopper, all good things come to those who wait. You will get some answers, you will figure out most of what is going on…. Then, well, then the fun begins.
This story is about a girl who lives in a prison. She has visions or flashbacks of her life that make no sense. Her gut feelings make no sense. Her parents make no sense. Are you noticing a theme here?
I couldn’t put this book down. I wanted to figure out the clues on my own. I did figure a few things out, but they didn’t make any sense to me, so I knew they were wrong. They couldn’t be right because then I would be even more lost. Are you understanding me? Am I making sense?
If you are a dark psychological thriller junkie like me, you are going to love this book. If you are looking for something to torture your soul, definitely read this book. If you are looking for a page-turning, you can’t put the book down kind of story, read this one. If you are looking for something to kill all of the unicorns and wipe away all of the rainbows you have recently been reading, read this book. Basically, just read this book.

”Nothing will ever be the same again.”
Holy. Hell. In. A. Hand. Basket. I know Tara Sivec as a rom-com writer… but this is anything but romantic or funny. This book is dark. It’s twisted. It will make your jaw hit the floor.
After suffering an accident, Ravenna is suffering from memory loss. She can’t remember what happened to her. She can’t remember how it happened. She can’t remember her parents. She can’t remember why she is filled with rage and a burning desire to get revenge.
I was not expecting this book from Tara Sivec. Tara Sivec is pretty much the epitome of sunshine, rainbows, and glitter. This story was good. It was scary, intense; this book is dark. And as the confusion clears and the clouds lift, things start to make sense; you start to see the puzzle pieces falling into place.
This book blows my mind. It’s so well done. I did not see the twist coming—the twists. I did not see anything so brutal coming. This is well done. It’s well-executed. The plot is fast past and intense. And once things start clicking in place, and once the story starts making sense, all you can do is keep reading.
This is a devastatingly sad story. In so many ways. The betrayal that starts in the beginning and tragic happenings that are held against the most innocent. The spiraling within this tale will break your heart. And then the understanding will kick you while you’re down. There are no happily ever after to be found in this book. But there is a dark resolve.
Excellent author
So after several days of processing this book I am still left at “Da phuck?” Pretty much that.
Tara can’t write anything that I do not like and consume with in a day. I mean seriously. She made me love a “nice guy” and not the ass holes I always love when she wrote Fisher’s Light. She needs an award just for that. But THIS. I was not expecting this from her. I have learned now to not assume I know what she is gonna give me as far as books go. Silly Heather.
I’m going to review this book with out reviewing this book. When you read it you will thank me and understand why.
Just buy it. You may cuss me out. You may want to stab me. It’s ok. I accept that but you WILL thank me in the end for it.
Great read, hard to put down, unpredictable
