The story of Grimm, Mavros, and especially of Zorie as she struggles to understand and resist the mesmer powers.
Mavros believes she can become his perfect weapon, that he can use her for his deadly revenge, but she will lead him to wonder what’s missing from his life.
Grimm is her knight in bloody armor – the man with the deepest flaws and the most terrible secrets. He wants to be there for her, always, to help her and perhaps to love her.
But first Zorie must learn to rise above her weaknesses and kill her enemies. Before love will come death, despair, and betrayal.
Is there anyone left she can trust?
Beware the monsters who smile.
WARNING
This Dark Hearts trilogy explores horror and thriller territory. You’ll find some very graphic scenes of violence, torture, death, and sex, oozing from the pages. In the first book you won’t find anything more than hints of romance, as the romance is on drip-feed speed. The main man, the antihero, may not even end up being who most readers expect him to be.
With DARK HEARTS, I wanted to step outside conventional romance. I wanted no cliffhangers, yet endings that make you curious about the next story, and a story ARC similar to some urban fantasy series. Zorie, the heroine will seriously kick some ass, but she won’t always be on top, because being on the bottom can be fun…for readers…and maybe for her. The last book, Wicked Hunt, is a very, VERY twisted romance. There may be sweetness, but there is also tragedy and torture, and hopefully some screaming readers.

This trilogy is even better the second time! All three parts together in one big, yummie boxset, you can just keep reading until the very last page of this dark beauty. This is the journey on Zorie,Grimm and Mavros. From the start, where Zorie gets to know there are monsters out there, that can control women with just their mind. Make them do whatever they want. But Zorie, she’s different and Mavros(the first of the mesmers,as they’re called, that is…as far as he could find out) wants a chance to use her difference to get revenge for what happened to a loved one. At first,he keeps his distance,so thank god for Grimm! A man with his own agenda, until he really gets to know Zorie….He saves her,she tries to save him and in the end Mavros does his best to save them both. What happens along their journey is so dark,so depraved…..There are really, really very bad men in this world! If you like that kind of dark, this is most definitely the story for you! Brace yourself, you’re in for a hell of a ride! Loved it and now i’m going to catch up with Wolfe……
If you’ve read any of this author’s works, you might empathize with me for my reaction to the Dark Hearts Trilogy. Because of that reaction, I contemplated giving this story about men who are mesmers just 4 stars. But scaring me well beyond the limits of what I could normally handle regarding horror; causing me to put the book down for days or a week or two at a time; repulsing me; sickening me with outraged shock, was not the author’s fault. All those reactions simply attest to her keenly creative writing talents. I chose to read it. And, really, the story was so well-written that I kept coming back to it again and again, and reading more despite the occasional need to puke. (Hmm—maybe the author herself is some sort of mesmer?) Be warned before you start reading this Trilogy. For a man who had the ability to actually mesmerize a woman, you can imagine the fiendish head-trip he would be ruled by; the twisted set of ‘morals’ he would sink to if he had the ability to make that woman do whatever he ordered her to do, up to and including killing herself. There were some very malevolent, unholy characters in this story. And they did atrocious things to the women they controlled. Fortunately for the heroine, Zorie, the two main men in her life (one a mesmer, and the other on his way to becoming a mesmer) still had two or three shreds of decency left in them. I felt a ton of pathos for Zorie, and more than a ton of pride when she finally broke free and set off on her mission to send all mesmers to perdition. If you like dark-dark erotica and you have a cast iron stomach you may be able to read this all the way through without taking a stress break. For me, I put it down now and again when I needed a breather. Nonetheless, for all that, it is still very much a 5-star read by a very talented author!
