Truly, Madly, Whiskey was the second book in the Whiskey series by Melissa Foster.
Bear Whiskey. Gorgeous, cocky, loyal, great sense of humor, and totally alpha. He was the typical over protective and possessive alpha. But he was his own brand of alpha, “No Baby. We don’t own. We are one. We share, we love, we protect but we don’t own.”
Crystal Moon. Beautiful, smart, sassy and independent. Crystal was Gemma’s best friend (Tru Blue, book one) and an employee of Gemma’s Princess Boutique; although she was all gothic to Gemma’s girliness. It was interesting reading the transformation from Chrissy to Chrystina to Crystal and her perception of the different personas. When that was revealed, we knew there was a hidden story and the underlying theme as to why Crystal was Crystal.
Bear met Crystal in Tru Blue and had been chasing her ever since. Truly, Madly, Whiskey picked up where Tru Blue left off. It was told in dual POV and was a journey of healing, moving forward and learning to let their own dreams come to fruition versus living for others or because of others.
Crystal had a tragedy occur several years prior to meeting Bear. Once she revealed her secrets, their relationship progression was probably a realistic perspective for them as soul mates. It was sweet and perceptive. However, for a story, it moved too slow for me and took a long time to develop. Foster dove into their psyche but I was still craving more. I wouldn’t change the story, but parts of the timeline could fast forward without losing the affect and importance of the circumstances.
I loved how Foster utilized characters from her other series, but not so much that it’s necessary to have read that series first. Foster provided enough explanation that it appeared it was a normal supporting character to her new readers, but yet it tied multiple series together as a bonus for her loyal readers.
Additionally, although Bear was a Biker and part of the Dark Knights MC, it was not the typical MC in romance novels, it was more of a cross between a riding club and a true MC. Their motto was “love, loyalty, and respect for all” and it was the backdrop to the storyline.
All in all, it was enjoyable and a great addition to the series. It’s not been revealed yet who is next; however, Foster provided multiple teasers and there are several directions the series can take. Either way, I’m in and can’t wait to see what’s next on the horizon.
What a sweet endearing audiobook!! I so loved this heart dropping story!
Truly, Madly, Whiskey just hits the spot!! Making you swoon, melt and just head over hills for BEAR!!! SYYYYY
ARC Review: Truly, Madly, Whiskey by Melissa Foster
Melissa Foster has a way of getting under the skin. She writes characters that can break your heart, leave you tempted, inspire you or make your skin crawl from too much exposure. Truly, Madly, Whiskey had them all. Bear, the bad boy has trouble written all over his flirtatious smile and his possessive attitude. Don’t let the playful attitude fool, he’s fought his share of demons and came out victorious. He doesn’t suffer fools and he fights hard for the people he loves. Crystal is his fantasy girl, but behind the tough girl act lies secrets, she’s hidden from many including herself. From her frustrating mother to her idiot brother, she’s seen her share of hard knocks, but is determined to rise above the life she was born into. The scenery is not always pretty, yet the attraction is overpowering and the main characters are an inspiration. Within the pages of Truly, Madly, Whiskey dwells a message of power and hope.
Audiobook Review: Truly, Madly, Whiskey by: Melissa Foster (Author), Paul Woodson (Narrator)
I truly love this series. Foster breaks through the stereotype of what a hero should be and takes on who they are. The Whiskeys seem to be the anti heroes, but their hearts won’t let them not lend a hand to a person that needs it. Crystal and Bear are broken people. Neither knows where their attraction is headed, but when their emotions are tested refuse to give up the fight. Through the words of Foster, narration of Woods on and the depth of the characters, the fierce spirit of a champion takes shape. Truly, Madly, Whiskey proves a heartbreaker can be a hero in disguise. It roots for the underdog and I love that most of all.
I really enjoyed this second book in Foster’s, ‘The Whiskey’s’ series! I had been looking forward to Bear’s story since I met him in the first book, Tru Blue, and he was everything, and so much more! Bear has been more than patient for the last 8 months, waiting for Crystal to finally admit to her feelings for him. He is done waiting and is ready to prove that they are meant to be together. Crystal has a painful past that makes her avoid relationships. But the sexy, bossy, possessive Bear, doesn’t scare her. She sees how kind, protective, and loyal he is and that helps her to overcome her past, and become the strong, independent woman she always wanted to be. As they grow closer, Bear also wants to move forward with his dreams, beyond working in the family business. Bear is the perfect alpha, swoony, book boyfriend. He was so patient with Crystal, putting her needs first, supporting her thru all her brokeness. I was a bit frustrated with her at first, but the more I got to know her, the more I could understand her actions. This emotional, and steamy romance was made even better by the rich, deep voice of narrator, Paul Woodson. He did a great job bringing out the complex emotions Bear and Crystal struggled with. I especially loved his characterization and voice for little Kennedy, he really put a smile on my face when I heard those parts.
This family saga has really captured my heart, and I can’t wait for more from the Whiskey’s!
Doesn’t get any better than Melissa Foster!! Every book is amazing
Awesome Story! I LOVE the Whiskey’s!! This story is heartbreaking, sweet, romantic and lots of fun! The characters are are relatable and the story is very well put together! My heart went out to Crystal and all the things she had to deal with and, Bear was AWESOME in how he handled Crystal’s anxiety and got her to open up. I want my own Bear!! LOL!!
Love this family. Love this book, however the characters did not stay true to themselves. Bear started out as a alpha badass and morphed into something with out a backbone. Crystal was so all over the place I could not get a fix on her at all. The family I love, the story line was great. I hope the rest of this series has characters who stay true to themselves. I am all for people changing and adapting but not to the point where they are no longer recognizable.
Phew! Hot & Exciting! Sarcasm & Snark! I really loved the interactions between Crystal & Bear. He was confident enough to not be put off by her attitude & she could see below his attitude & tattoos. This book was a typical Melissa Foster story with the emotional journey that both characters have to go on to develop themselves in order to grow together. I feel it also enforces the idea that “you can’t judge a book by its cover” & “first impressions are not always correct”. Bear & the rest of the Whiskey clan are tattooed, black leather & chains wearing, muscular motorcycle hunks. They are strong & tough. What their appearances don’t let you know is that they are also tender, loyal, loving, vulnerable & extremely protective. Bear has watched over Crystal for months. The motorcycle club is not a group you would think would protect kids that are bullied but yet it fits. It’s just another layer to dig under. Crystal projection this tough, sarcastic image but as you get to know her, you see the vulnerable, soft, hurt side of her & the bravery she exhibits to get past it instead of giving up.
This is definitely one of my favorite books by Melissa Foster. The emotion & vulnerability were so well defined. I can’t wait for the next book!
Bear is persistent and determined! Even when Crystal repeatedly tells him she doesn’t want to be with him, (even though she really does!) he doesn’t give up on her! He is also so gentle with her, and exactly what she needs.
Crystal is hiding a past that no one knows about and its eating her up inside. She had a horrible childhood, and things just got worse from there. Meeting Gemma was the best thing that ever happened to her. Gemma saved Crystal, and she didn’t even know it.
Bear had an amazing childhood, with a great family. But he has a very hard time telling them no, putting himself first, pursuing his own dreams instead of theirs.
This book was just as good as Tru Blue, and, again, family plays a big part in this story. Blood family, as well as that you make, stands beside you no matter what, holding you up when you need it, making you strong. Another amazing story!
What can I say that I haven’t already said before? Melissa Foster is now officially my go to fave romance author!
When we first met Bear & Crystal in Tru Blue, I knew then that I couldn’t wait to get my hands on their story, and Melissa didn’t disappoint with it either. Bear is a little rough around the edges but anything from scary – in fact he is actually more like a teddy bear, a quality that goes against the typical tough biker facade. He has waited 8 long months to be with Crystal, and try as she might she cant rebuff him.
Crystal is fighting her own demons and despite her tough biker chick exterior we discover it is all a front after events in her past made her reinvent herself into this hard-ass woman. Bear find out her past and does everything in his power to show her that he is not after a one time thing with her and that he is looking for the real deal – all he wants a chance to prove that to her. We see Crystal break down her walls, in a story that is filled with so much sexual tension as well as being an emotional read for Crystal.
I hope we see more of the Whiskey family – especially Dixie I would love to read her story!
