Don’t miss any of Dean Koontz’s gripping Jane Hawk thrillers:

Praise for The Silent Corner
“Gripping . . . The paranoia and mystery increase as the story unfolds. . . . Koontz has created [a] wonderful character in Jane Hawk. . . . Koontz rocks it again.”—Associated Press
“In this era of stingy text-message prose, Mr. Koontz is practically Shakespeare. . . . The Silent Corner brims with both action and emotion.”—Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
“The Silent Corner is vintage Dean Koontz: paranoia-fueled suspense . . . sleek and highly realized action, developed characters, and more twists and turns than any two ordinary novels combined. . . . As relevant to current events as it is audacious . . . amongst Dean Koontz’s finest contemporary work.”—Mystery Scene
“A proven specialist in action scenes, Koontz pulls off some doozies here. . . . The book is full of neat touches. . . . And the prose, as always in a Koontz novel, is first-rate. Perhaps Koontz’s leanest, meanest thriller, this initial entry in a new series introduces a smart, appealing heroine who can outthink as well as outshoot the baddest of bad dudes.”—Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

I tried to read it twice and just could not get into this book. It was not interesting nor did it pull ,me in like his book usually do.
Koontz gets just close enough to the truth to scare the crap out of me. Scary book. Is this possible? I surely hope not.
Lots of people are commiting suicide. People no one would ever believe would do anything like that. Jane’s husband a 32 year old military officer, sliced his jugular four months ago while washing his hands for dinner. Jane, an FBI agent, starts checking into his death, because she can’t believe he killed himself. A man shows up in her five year old son’s bedroom and says he will torture and kill the boy if she doesn’t stop looking into the deaths. Jane goes off the grid.
With some help from a few trusted friends, she continues to check into the deaths, finally discovering the sinister plot.
No goldens, but there is a Ford, but it is an Escape, not an Explorer.
Once again Dean Koontz shows why he is a master. The Silent Corner has a very original story and a compelling heroine. The Silent Corner starts slowly but builds surely to the semi-supernatural action we have come to expect from Dean Koontz. Koontz is a master of pulling out the shadowy and evil in everyday actions and people. This novel is no exception. The horror is all based in events that are more than plausible given the political and commercial environment of today.
Dean Koontz is also expert at showing the ability of every day people to rise as heroes. Jane Hawk is one of these heroes. She is determined and creative and you will root for her to the end and beyond.
I always enjoy Dean Koontz’s writing and story lines, and this book is true to his form. The characters are well-drawn and the story is packed with action and intrigue. I highly recommend this book, along with his others, such as “The Good Guy,” “The Husband,” and “Intensity,” just to name a few.
Koontz can take any setting and characters and make them his own creation.
Good reads
The world just might be headed in that direction.
Liked book held my interest
Huge DK fan. Could not put this one down.
The first of a new series by Koontz that will have you follow Jane Hawk, the widow of a man who took his own life. The difference is that Jane’s husband did not commit suicide. Jane’s husband had his mind taken over by someone and something and Jane is going to find out what. The suicide rate climbs in surprising numbers as Jane investigates to find out who is behind this heinous act. Jane finds that each suicide victim either left a strange note or was fine one minute and dead the next. There is no rhyme or reason to the people selected to commit suicide. On leave from the FBI, Jane goes from law enforcement to fugitive as she travels from place to place trying to find answers while leaving her son safe with friends. Just when you think it is wrapping up there are more questions and the answers are still out there waiting for Jane.
As a mystery book it’s good. Not what I expected in a book written by D.K. but a good story. I was upset by the abrupt ending. I also didn’t know this was leading to the next book. Next time I won’t buy right away I will wait.
The plot is original and thrilling. The book ends on a cliffhanger though which bummed me out considering how long the book is.
