Fate.I’ve been running from it most of my life – doing everything I can to avoid the future it had dictated for me. If I had learned one thing from the hell I went through as a child, it was that I never wanted to go back. Until I ran into someone who was running from her destiny just as hard as I was.And it just so happens that she’s one of my best friends. One night, emboldened by alcohol, she … night, emboldened by alcohol, she does something that has me questioning everything and it doesn’t take me long to realize that maybe instead of running away from something, I’ve been racing to her all along. But there is fear in her eyes and I know that her fate won’t be so easily shaken.
Will I ever be able to work past her fear to show her everything we could be? Or am I destined for the same kind of desolate life I’ve been fleeing from since I was a kid?

Another 4.5 .My heart was breaking for Addy and her fears for the future. This was a twist with the female lead being the hesitant one and the guy was all in. Nice change. Loved how Trey had worked so hard not to be his father. Heart warming to see how the Harrington family made him and others part of their family. Lots of love in this family. The letters between Addy’s dad and mom, were wonderful. Has love, a little suspense, angst and tragic events that lead to a HEA, what we all want.
Oh my goodness! There is so much emotion in this book. Between her and Trey, and then her Mom. I found myself in tears a few times.
This whole series has been one emotional rollercoaster. My heart went out to Addy and her fears. Trey is sweet and sexy. Their love for each other is unconditional. There was times that I wanted to strangle them both. I just love all characters and how they stick by each other.
Good conclusion to the series. Liked this one better than Tucker & Daisy’s story. Well written and edited.
I really liked that this felt like real world dilemmas. Trey struggles with being more than the abused and forgotten child. It takes him quite awhile to realize that although his own parents were less than stellar, Michael and Charlotte were always looking out for him and waiting for their chance to be his family. Addilyn is dealing with her mother’s early onset Alzheimer’s and fearing that she may face the disease herself. She doesn’t feel that it is fair to put someone else in the position of watching their loved one slowly forget them.
It is good that this picks up at the wedding of Emma and Phoenix so that we aren’t going through the same story for a third time. Instead, we move forward with the other characters in an organic manner. I liked watching Trey and Addilyn move towards each other and finally letting go of fear to embrace love. I also liked that we are shown that life isn’t always perfect, that there are ups and downs, but that if we hold onto love, we can weather whatever life has in store.
Nice little ‘Epilogue’ at the very end to give a glimpse of the future. Even though this is probably considered stand-alone, it is best read in order.
I absolutely love A.M. Myers, so I was thrilled to have to opportunity to beta read Evading Fate. I have loved these characters from the very first book in the series. The beginning of this book picks up at Emma and Nix’s wedding. There was so much love and romance happening, and it left Addy yearning for some of the same. She’s holding back some secrets that are leaving her with feelings of envy for what her friends have. I was curious to know more about her secrets. The intimate scenes that come along between Addy and Trey are described so beautifully, it is as if I am there alongside them. Addy is a very strong-willed and loyal person. It is demonstrated especially by her promise to not share her problems with anyone, even to seek support, because she gave her mom her word. She seeks comfort in Trey, but she never fully lets him in on what she’s hiding. I could feel the weight of her burden with each turn of the page. Another thing that jumped from the pages of this book were Trey and Addy’s pure fire passion for one another. As things progressed, I liked that Trey was beginning to share his past and secrets with Addy. This in turn made her walls begin to crumble as well. I loved to see her wanting to open up to him. The love letters sections of the book were so rich and beautiful, yet also broke my heart a little more each time, especially the letter that Addy’s mom wrote right after her dad died. As the book goes on and I got to see more of what was happening with Addy’s mom, I found it hard to keep my eyes from tearing up. Those scenes were devastating, yet written to perfection. When Addy was driving in the storm, I had such a bad feeling about things to come. And when Addy is in the hospital and no one can “find” her mom, it’s even more of a tearjerker. I will say that I wanted to slap Trey for what he does after Addy wakes up in the hospital. I mean hell, the girl just woke up after a terrible accident. Let her explain her feelings and keep fighting for what you want! I was quick to forgive Trey after seeing what he does at the nursing home later. It was the best thing ever and I may have fallen in love with him in that moment. The ending of this book was really lovely and made up for the range of emotions that I suffered throughout. I also found that the second epilogue really showed their strength as a couple and was a perfect ending to a wonderful love story. Evading Fate was a fabulous read. I cannot wait to see what A.M. Myers will cook up next.
Trey and Addy’s story started out so heartbroken for me. But through love and determination they find such love and happiness. Such a wonderful series.
Evading Fate by A.M. Myers a fate altering five-star read, you will love this series today, tomorrow and forever. This is the third and final book in the Hidden Scars series, but we will thankfully see the characters when the Bayou Devils get their own series. If that series is half as good as this one, I will have all books on pre-order the second I can.
I think A.M. Myers is an amazing writer, she writes characters that we have seen develop through the series the six main characters have all grown in life and character as well as age. Through the series we have seen both the main characters in this book Addilyn Jayne Burke and Trey Andrew Davis develop as best friends, we have seen love develop in many forms through the series, from the love of great friends, love of siblings and parents, and finally the love of a significant other. I have fallen a little in love with all the characters in this series just a little bit, but I will always have a soft spot for Trey, he was always the quiet in in the background loved but never part of the main action, in this book he comes into his own, and grows a love so deep that it lifts your heart, he grows a love for himself.
One drunken night at a wedding causes Addilyn to lose herself, despite having a boyfriend called Kyle, she is still lonely and sad, and very very drunk. Addylin was trying to get drunk to hide her pain from herself, she has felt the pain for years and it started to overcome her. Addilyn dares not tell anyone else, it’s not her secret to keep, the only problem is alcohol isn’t the answer. Trey knows this so when he sees that Addylin can’t even stand up, he cuts her off and takes her home, he’s sober as he hasn’t drunk since he was a teen, when he gets her home things happen that only one of them can remember the next morning.
Will they ever be able to work past their problems and finally give fate a real shot at getting it right? Or will Kyle stand in the way and cause fate to be put everyone on a different path? Will they get their happy ever after? Will anyone?
