Ten seconds can change everything. I fell in love with him twelve years ago when I was little more than a child. In the blink of an eye, he went from my best friend’s big brother to Tucker – the boy who made my heart beat faster with just a look. But he never saw me as anything more than family and I was forced to let him go. Years later, all it took was one kiss, ten seconds of his lips … of his lips pressed against mine, to knock my world off its axis and resurrect every old feeling I had buried so long ago. Now, there’s only one thing that I want and his name is Tucker Harrington.
Something is holding him back. There’s a darkness inside him that sometimes clouds his eyes and erases every piece of the fun, mischievous boy I fell in love with. His secrets haunt him and if he’s not willing to fight, how will we ever survive?

I wish I could give half stars since this is really a 4.5 not a 4 for me. I enjoyed this book though to be honest I wanted to know what Tucker’s secret was way before I found out! LOL. I loved how Daisy took control and stopped allowing him to avoid making a full commitment. Was surprised how long it took him to get to the full commitment stage and then married, but their love for each other despite all the issues did shine through. Everyone knew they were perfect for each other. Goes to show how past trauma can over shadow the present if you let it. Loved seeing more of his side of things with what happened with his sister, Emma.
A while ago I was asked to read and review a book called Hidden Scars by A.M. Myers. It was her debut book. I loved it, completely totally lovedr it. Recently, I was once again contacted. This time to read Collateral Damage, book two of the Hidden Scars series. And Myers has done it again…..nailed it!
I was brought back into the world of Emma and Nix, but not directly. Collateral Damage focuses on Emma’s best friend and brother, Daisy and Tucker. It is during the same time frame of Hidden Scars. So reading HS first is highly recommended. Tucker has known Daisy since she was little. She was always in his life. Daisy had a crush on Tucker since she was little. At first that sweet little school girl crush that developed into a teenage girls crush. What Daisy didn’t know is that Tucker had noticed her.
After an experience with his first “love” Kali, Tucker never thought he would be worthy of anyone’s love. That he was somehow unworthy. So he kept his distance from Daisy. Wanting her to only have what she deserved. He kept her at a distance, until he didn’t.
On a night fueled with booze, Tucker shows up at Daisy’s house. He shows up expressing concern over Emma’s relationship with Ryan. As Daisy tries to talk sense into Tucker, her dreams become realized…..Tucker kisses her and then runs from her house.
Myers writes an epic story. One filled with love, lust, fear, feelings of unworthiness, and second chances. Daisy is the best friend everyone wants, Sweet, kind, caring, lovable, loyal, and funny. She is the girl you root for. Someone who deserves all the happiness she can find. Tucker is hot, romantic, smart, and yet still distant. Can these two people who seem destined to be together ever find their way to one another? Will Tucker ever find that he is every bit worthy of Daisy’s love??

Tucker, you are a BLEEP. No way would I have put up with that. As with most stories his back story was heartbreaking but dang. He needed a good slap across the face. Daisy deserved better!
My heart broke from the pain everyone went threw during Emma’s abusive relationship. I just wanted to slap Tucker for being so stubborn. Daisy is strong and knows what she deserves. This was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster. I can’t wait to read the next book
Daisy has been in love with Tucker since as long, as she can remember. The only problem is Tucker never knew it. Daisy watches Tucker have a serious relationship and realizes that she should let go of her feelings for him, and she does, until one night and one kiss.
After sharing one sizzling kiss Daisy and Tucker decide to give a relationship a try with only one problem, that Tucker doesn’t want anyone to know about it. After waiting for Tucker to work our he’s issues, Daisy gets tired of being his dirty little secret and decides to call off the relationship.
Tucker is torn apart as he only told one person what went on with his ex and it has been eating him up ever since. Tucker is torn up with how much he loves Daisy and the fact that he can’t live without her, but thinks it may be too late.
I really felt for both Daisy and Tucker throughout the story as the both had genuine reasons for what they were both doing and how torn they were.
Although this can be read as a standalone, there are characters from the others in the series so I’m getting them to find out their stories.
Great tie with Hidden Scars – keeping the timeline intact. Well written. Well edited.
This one follows Tucker and Daisy from friends to more over the course of a couple of years. In truth, we find that they have been friends since childhood, but the light didn’t dawn for Tucker until much later. Tucker has a deep hurt that keeps him from believing in a future. He refuses to share with anyone, which of course eats him alive inside. It is really sad how he loses so much time because he can’t/won’t find a way to move past the past. Daisy was such a patient. strong woman. She tried to give Tucker time to open up and when he couldn’t, she tried to move on with her life with dignity.
For me, Hidden Scars was a little better – because Nix. But, this was good, and I am looking forward to Trey & Addilyn.
After reading her debut novel, Hidden Scars, I was very eager to read more from A. M. Myers. I jumped at the chance to read Collateral Damage and share my thoughts. I liked Daisy and Tucker’s chemistry right from the beginning and how the story jumped right into their sexual tension. The characters in this book appeared easily to the mind. An example were Joel and Daisy in chapter one: Their friendship and banter were seamless and fun to read. I also liked how the timeline matched-up with the events from Hidden Scars and how I got to see that story from additional perspectives. Right after Daisy and Tucker slept together, I was wondering what would happen next. I was awaiting the conflict that I knew would be working to keep them apart, and sure enough there it was in the form of Tucker wanting to keep their relationship a secret. Although their pattern becomes a bit repetitive, I found the sex scene in chapter four to be HOT. When they finally decide to have a conversation about their future during the meteor shower, I thought that it was the perfect time for them to broach that subject again. Even after this lovely scene, there was still conflict to be had and I got downright angry at Tucker for his behavior and admired Daisy for finding the strength to seek what she truly wanted and deserved. I can relate with her about not wanting any regrets in her relationship with Tucker, even if it leaves her heartbroken. I had a huge WOW moment at the family barbecue when Tucker basically rejects her in front of everyone. I applauded Daisy’s strength in chapter eighteen. Later, when Tucker learns about Emma’s pregnancy and finally comes to his senses, I let out a huge sigh of relief. The ending of this book was very sweet and satisfying, even causing me to laugh out loud at one point. I really enjoyed reading Collateral Damage.
Tucker is the most stubborn yet lost person. He loves Daisy but just can’t believe in himself to go for it. Daisy is totally and completely in love with Tucker, but must move on as he won’t give her what she deserves. As this story wraps around the events of Hidden Scars things shift a bit. Will they shift enough for these two to find their way to forever? Take a read and find out.
Collateral Damage an amazing five-star read. This is the second book in the Hidden scars series. We have met all the characters in the first book including the main two in this series Tucker Michael Harrington as the brother of the main character Emma in Hidden scar and Daisy Mae Conners who was her best friend since they were children.
Tucker was her best friends big brother always there and the secret crush that Daisy has had since she was 12 years old, having never told anyone about the crush as she thinks they all know. Daisy has always had the crush and despite trying to see other people it never really worked, but she never thought she would have a chance with Tucker he just saw her as family, as all of the families are very close. Then when he turns up on her door step one night with the excuse of discussing Emma’s new boyfriend that he doesn’t like but ends up kissing her. One kiss that lasts 10 seconds changes her life forever.
Daisy knows that Tucker has a darkness to him a that means he hasn’t dated seriously, will she be the one to change that? Or will his darkness break her heart once and for all. Daisy will have to make a decision and risk the collateral damage that it will leave behind, does she break her own heart? Or allow Tucker to do it for her? Will his darkness swallow her whole? Or will she shine the light on it.
