I believe I have read every one of her books, especially any that take place near Charleston, Shem Creek, Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island or Pawley’s Island – areas that are familiar to me. I have to say that I was a little disappointed in this book in comparison with her other books – it dragged on a bit too long in places. The characters were good, well written, interesting but it just seemed a little stale to me. That is certainly not going to stop me from continuing to read any new books!
One of my favorite books by this author
I loved this book! Its easy to place yourself in any one of the characters. Highly entertaining!
Very enjoyable. Likable characters
I was able to finish because it was some what twisted. but it ended happy.
Like her writing.
This is a perfect beach read -I mean it even says so in the title! . A friend loaned me the book and it was just what I needed after finishing a really challenging, heavy story. A book that was easy to read. A book about family and friends with lots of twists and turns along the way. A book with realistic and relatable characters. A book with a happy and satisfying ending.
The story centers around two families that spend a week at the beach together each summer. There is some history with two of the characters that threatens to ruin the deep friendship and connection between the families over the years. This story addresses issues such as trust, love, true friendship, kindness, and multi-generational relationships within a family. The author did a good job of leading the reader down one path and then throwing in an unexpected plot twist sending the story in a new direction, all while keeping true to the characters and the reader.
I could definitely see this book becoming a “Hallmark” movie. I know I would watch it!! So, if you are looking for a good, positive book to read, I highly recommend Same Beach, Next Year – especially if you are planning to sit by the ocean to read it!
Ms. Frank has a great way with building both plot and characters. I’ve read most of her novels and thoroughly enjoyed every one of them.
Love her books. Look forward every year for the new one
Great book..a must read.
Such a great Lowcountry story. I just loved this book. I didn’t want to put it down to do other things. This was such a great telling of the power of friendship, love and family. I laughed, and I cried right along with the characters. Dorothea Benton Frank did a marvelous job in weaving this tale that covered years of summer vacations on the Isle of Palms. Definitely doesn’t disappoint and it’s a perfect beach read.
