“Mafia Romance at its best, I couldnt put this book down.” Goodreads Reviewer She was a ghost, in heels. She was there, then she wasn’t. She would play with my emotions like a well-played guitar. Then she would disappear. Making me want to strangle her. Maybe she wasn’t a ghost, maybe she was the giver of sin. Because we sinned every time we touched, every time she was near. Her lips were shaped … every time we touched, every time she was near.
Her lips were shaped like a heart, deceiving you at every word.
Her body was created straight from my fantasies, one I craved to bend to my will.
Her heart, well, who the hell knew. She kept that shit locked tight.
And I couldn’t find the key

Still not sure how to really rate this book. I’m somewhere between 3,5 and 4 stars….
Distrust is my 4th book of T.L. Smith and so I quite hat some expectations. I guess. And it took me a while to get into this story. Respectively getting used to the fact that the first half is told only from Kazier’s POV and I didn’t get any connection to the woman he’s apparently obsessed with. She’s as much ghost to me as a reader as she is to Kazier.
Well, now that I’m writing this, it occurs to me that this is just the thing the author wanted to achieve. Well done here, it worked for me!
As soon as Elina’s POV came into the game, the book became much more emotional to me. The fog cleared from chapter to chapter and even if the suspense rate was very slow, I wanted to know more.
Yet again T.L. Smith worked wonder on the characters. Even though I don’t think that Kazier and Elina had much development throughout the story, the author managed to create an intriguing group of characters, I certainly want to know more about. Specially Freya, Victor and Death.
Overall I really enjoyed reading it, however, I think it is my least favorite from T.L. Smith so far.
“I’m sure I can see his soul through that smile. All my walls disintegrate, and it’s like love is winking at me.”
“You embrace the storm in me, you don’t silence it.”
As a lover of mafia romances this one ticks all the boxes. Drama and suspense that will keep your anxiety levels high and have you on the edge of your seat. If you like your men over the top alpha and the steamy scenes sizzling then Kazier and Elina’s story should be top on your list to read. This is a great first book in this series and can’t wait to delve further into the Smirnov family.
TL Smith is one of those authors I know when I pick up her book its going to be action packed, full of suspense, have me on the edge of my seat and tummy fluttering from the knots she can tie and untie the entire time I’m reading. I’ve not read one book I have not fallen in love with from TL Smith and Distrust is no different. The characters are intriguing to say the least and all the secrets around this ghost in heels has you flipping page after page hoping to get some answers.
That ending TL!! SERIOUSLY… I literally sat there and read the last page 3 times…. 3 freaking times thinking no this isn’t the end.. it can’t end like this.. she wouldn’t… but yes, yes she does!!
Elina is the mystery woman through most of the book but it kept me reading to find out who she really was and even with what is brought to light you still only get little bits and pieces which again has left me wanting the next books that much more. And the secondary characters, family members & friends.. yeah I need their stories especially with the ending of this one.
I highly recommend this book like all other TL Smith books. You certainly cannot go wrong when looking for a dark romance, hot alpha male, and the mob.
Holy Hell TL Smith you are a total Bad Arse…
Distrust is the story of a very Dark Russian Mafia Family, Smirnov Bratva to be exact. And let’s just say there is a War between this family and one other that will take no prisoners!!
Now Kazier who is the unofficial head of this Mafia Clan (although his Father believes he still decides the rules) is a very very dark man with a thirst for just one woman Elina, the woman that evades him whenever she feels the need, what is her secret, why is she playing this game of cat and mouse and does she even know who she is dealing with??
There were elements throughout this book that may not be for everyone having said that, I loved it all the same, I was not an Elina Fan to be honest, but god damn by the end I had changed my tune!! I am so ready for Death he surprised me by the end of this book, but I’m intrigued to get a glimpse of what makes him tic, but at the same time I’m extremely scared for what’s to come!!
Congrats TL on another Dark, Crazy Beautiful Read.
