A new Standalone Romance novel by New York Times & USA Today Bestselling author Clarissa Wild.Maybell Fairweather was the girl of my dreams.Always smiling brightly, she kept going, despite the names her classmates called her behind her back. She was full of curiosity and independence, the extent of which I could only be jealous of. Even though she had all odds stacked against her, she knew … had all odds stacked against her, she knew what she wanted from life and pursued it, no matter the cost.
She was completely my opposite in every way.
Perfect, even though she couldn’t see it.
Perfect … until me.
Because this is the story of how I ruined her.
Based on a true story. Standalone Romance. No cliffhanger.

This book was nothing I expected, yet I loved it! I enjoy when a book surprises me, when the writing engages me and I want to know more ~ Clarissa Wild definitely delivered with this one. I loved the fact that this one was different, that the characters had real-life troubles, they were struggling with issues that can be hard and they found someone to help them make it through “life” with a happiness they deserve. This one invoked many emotions, leaving you “feeling” the story. Well done….
4.5* When you know you’re going to be reading a true-story and read what Alex and Maybel go through, it hurts your heart a little more. Knowing that people can be so mean and hateful. To know that people are depressed and feel so alone. It just hurts more.
Maybel is so strong, stronger than she knew. She’s someone that usually has a smile on her face and would help anyone out that needed it. When she meets Alex she realizes that she knows him. She wants to talk to him more and he wants that too, more than she’ll know.
Clarissa covers hard emotions and shows that one smile, one gesture, even a nod to show that you see them can make such a difference in someone’s life. It can mean more than you know at the time.
Wow, just wow.
I’m completely lost for words, so you could only imagine the internal dilemma I’m facing writing my review for Ruin.
You see this is a true story, based on actual events, and as a reader I don’t believe any true story should be judged. Maybe it’s just me, but when you are reading real life, it’s a true honour that shouldn’t be rated.
This is real life. This is a story about two people with stories to be told, feelings to be shared, secrets to be revealed, but just not between each other, but with the world.
We are getting a glimpse of their pain, their thoughts, their struggles, their demons.
We are getting their life story.
We are able to feel every heartbreak, every moment, every choice they make.
We get to hear them.
That can never be judged.
As a reader, Ruin for me was nothing short of absolute brilliant. I was captured from the prologue, and I couldn’t put it down.
I laughed, I cried, I held my breath. The emotion that I felt was nothing short of soul crushing that at times I was left breathless. My heart broke into a million pieces, my belly ached from the crazy banter, my heart ached. I felt everything and so much more.
Rating this, it seems criminal too, because as I said earlier this is real, and real should never be judged or graded.
This is a MUST read guys.
It doesn’t get any better than this.
5 stars.
Ruin is different from anything I’ve read by the author before.
This is the story of two people who face their own set of challenges, they are both basically social outcasts but for differing reasons. They handle their struggles in different ways but it’s something that brings them together.
Initially I was concerned Alex was going to be a psycho stalker but thankfully he was just mildly stalkerish – intrigued by May enough to learn all about her without really crossing any boundaries.
An accident threatens everything May has been working for and Alex is there by her side through it all. And as they become closer Alex realizes his secret may tear them apart.
When two “outcasts” find love they think they can take on the world, but one mistake, one simple omission of the truth could be the one thing that tears them apart.
How will May handle the truth of how Alex came to be by her side?
I enjoyed this story, honestly it did take a bit for me to get into as YA is typically not something I read but I am a loyal Clarissa Wild fan so not reading this book was never an option! It was a bit slow starting for me, which I assume is the age of the characters, but it quickly picked up and by the end had woven a sweet love story.
