In the football world, quarterback Christopher Montgomery is known for his cool-headedness, his determination, and his steely self-control. He’s about to meet his match.***I would do anything to help out my mother, including taking in a stranger for the summer.I’ve never met Grace Lee, but Mom tells me she’s a quiet and artsy college student with a troubled past. When I agreed to let her stay … When I agreed to let her stay with me, I expected to share my apartment with a sullen girl who’d spend hours locked in her room.
As the quarterback leading my team to victory, I’m known for keeping a level head under pressure. I didn’t anticipate a walking fantasy determined to make me lose my cool.
I didn’t expect a woman with secrets so dark, so deep, I’d throw away everything if it would save her from the past.
Rushing in to do this favor is turning my life upside down. Keep her out of trouble? Grace is the trouble. And I want in.

DELICIOUS & FORBIDDEN + FOOTBALL ROMANCE
Grace is one of the sweetest characters from this series but also has this fire burning inside to do something greater, to make something of herself after her troubling teenage years. Everyone makes mistakes and most of those mistakes are overlooked and cast aside as time passes but not Grace’s. Not only was she tormented by her peers for her choices during her teenage years but they are still being held against her when she comes home.
Chris is that loyal and dependable person everyone wants as a friend. He’s that good kid that’s always there for his mom anytime she needs him! So when she and his soon to be stepdad needs him to let his new stepsister move in with him while they are on her honeymoon…Chris has no problem helping out. Except, his first meeting with his new stepsister is definitely one for the books! He hasn’t placed who Grace is yet but when he does…the one thing she wonders is if he will want the relationship that they’ve formed or will he remember exactly who she is…what she’s done and want nothing to do with her.
The friend crew in this one is AMAZING! Not just the girls either, the guys too! The way these girls took Grace under their wing and loved her is what real friendship is all about!
RUSHING IN is a standalone that exists within The Blackhawk Boys world by Lexi Ryan. You can read Chris & Grace’s book alone or if you LOVE a world of great friendships & football romance, I highly suggest reading the entire series. The author has such a great mix of tropes within these 5 books; a little something for everyone!
The Blackhawk Boys
1. – SPINNING OUT (Arrow’s story)
2. – RUSHING IN (Christopher’s story)
3. – GOING UNDER (Sebastian’s story)
4. – FALLING HARD (Keegan’s story)
5. – IN TOO DEEP (Mason’s story)
Rushing In will hit you straight in the heart, the feels were unreal with this one! These two were thrown together by their parents, with the intent that Chris would keep Grace out of trouble for the summer, and they’d get their dream honeymoon. But once these two formally met, an attraction settled in and things started to become a little strained. Them acting on their feelings could only lead to broken hearts, and not to mention it would be kind of forbidden to cross that line, now that they are kind of related by marriage. But their hearts wanted other things, and they were tired of fighting the never ending battle, what harm could a summer fling cause?
I loved this one just as much as the first installment in the series, the words were addictive, the characters lovable and relatable, and the feels were at an all time high. It was a perfect little weekend literary escape! Can’t wait to dive into the next installment and see where Ms. Ryan’s words lead me next! Highly recommend this one, it’s so good for the heart, and bound to leave you blushing!
It was unexpected good and surprisingly amazing. I couldn’t stop reading and was really captured by what’s going on with the characters.
The writing was sooooo good I didn’t want to stop reading if it weren’t for my work and life interrupting. I devoured this book. I loved Grace and Chris’s characters and I rooted for them from the beginning.
The Story:
Chris is a good guy and quite the opposite of Grace who seems to make troubles on end – or at least that’s what her father thinks. That’s why Grace is supposed to stay with Chris over the summer that he can keep an eye on her and out of trouble.
Chris is never the guy seeking trouble and if he is near a fight he is the one stopping it. Chris is someone you can count on. He may seem boring to some people but he is responsible and thinks before he does something.
When Chris agreed that Grace can stay at his place for the summer, he really didn’t know what he got himself into. He just wanted his mom to have her dream honeymoon traveling through Europe without her or his stepdad worrying about Grace. Now his world is about to turn upside down.
Thoughts:
This is exactly how I like my kind of stories. There is everything included. From funny moments to sad and heartbreaking ones and also gut-wrenching parts that make you angry at how unfair and horrible the world can be, all that wrapped up in sweet and lovely.
Amazing capturing story, awesome writing, believable characters and a story that feels so real it makes you believe you’re a part of it.
Chris made me swoon and Grace made me wish I had a friend like her.
Hats off to the author, she did an amazing job combining all the right essentials for this perfect book.
It was entertaining and fun. I loved it. I actually thought at first that this would be an easy and predictable story but I was so wrong. The story was really good and a lot happened that I just didn’t see coming. Fate didn’t mean well with Chris and Grace and I hoped throughout the book that it will still end well. I felt so bad for the stuff Grace had to endure in her life and that people were so mean. She really deserved a good guy like Chris and even though Chris was so different than Grace, she made him crazy in a good way and that just made their lives so much fuller of love.
Go grab this book about a love that may not have meant to be but is going to happen one way or the other. This is a story about two people having to overcome ones past, the others future and some troubles along the way. But if you stick together and hold on tight, you get through the bumps in the road together and will come out of it stronger than before.
I can’t believe that I didn’t check out the first book in this series yet but I have to get to it ASAP. =)
Great read, really well written story and characters, but not nearly as gut wrenching as book 1!
