From the # 1 New York Times and International bestselling author, Jennifer L. Armentrout writing as J. Lynn, comes a richly moving story about heartbreak and guilt, second chances and hope. Full of familiar, fan-favorite characters and no two people more deserving of a happy ending, Fire In You will burn bright beyond the last page… a few hours. The same night her childhood love, Brock ‘the Beast’ Mitchell, broke her heart, her life was irrevocably altered by the hand of a stranger with a gun. It takes six years to slowly glue together the shattered pieces of her life, but Jillian is finally ready to stop existing in a past full of pain and regret. She takes a job at her father’s martial arts Academy and she’s going out on her first date since a failed relationship that was more yuck than yum. Jillian is determined to start living.
She just never expected Brock to be a part of her life again. But he’s firmly back in her life before she knows it, and not only is he older, he’s impossibly more handsome, more teasing and more everything. And when he sees Jillian, he’s no longer capable of thinking of her as the little girl who was his shadow growing up or the daughter of the man who gave him a second chance at life. He sees the woman who’d always been there for him, the one person who believed in him no matter what.
Brock knows she’s the one he should’ve made his, and what begins as a tentative friendship quickly turns to red-hot chemistry that sparks a flame that burns brighter than lust. Falling for Brock again risks more than her heart, because when the sorrow-filled and guilt-ridden past resurfaces, and a web of lies threatens to rip them apart, the fallout could lay waste to everything they’ve fought to build together, and destroy the dreams of those they care most about.

“It proves what you’ve been through and what you’ve survived. That smile is a fucking miracle. Just like every breath you take is. That smile is nothing to ever be ashamed of. It’s a smile to be fucking proud of.”
Jillian grew up loving Brock from the time that he was accepted into her family as a child. The only thing is that Brock never saw her as more than a little sister, even though he knew how she felt. Then after a potentially fatal night and the subsequent aftermath Jillian decides to move away and she cuts Brock out of her life. Now they’re working together at her father’s facility in West Virginia and those feelings that Jillian thought she had gotten over are surging back. And Brock is now determined to show her that he has changed. But can Jillian really trust him with her heart after he’s already broken it once?
This is last book in the Wait for You series and I have to admit I’m a little nostalgic. When a series that has a quite a few books in it comes to an end it always feels a little bittersweet, especially when you love that series as much as I love this one. Having said that, this isn’t my favorite book of the series. I still loved it, but it also felt a little detached from the others, and that’s probably because you don’t see much of Jillian or Brock in the other books.
I loved how much Jillian grew through the series. We only saw her a few times before this book but she was always quiet and seemed timid. Even at the beginning of this one she was still that way to a certain extent. But she really came into her own in this book after she finally decided to start living her life again, and I really loved seeing that. She finally realized that she was a survivor and that she didn’t need to let the past define her present or her future. I think that’s something that all of us can learn from. Now Brock is probably my least favorite guy in the series and to be honest I’m glad that this book was set so much further in the future from the other books. The Brock that we see in those books is one that I would want to throat punch on a daily basis. As Katie says to Jillian in a flashback “He’s not worth it. Not yet.” And truer words have never been spoken. Having said all of that, Brock did change, and he became worth it. I do like that he wasn’t about to let Jillian push him away when he wanted her and he knew that she wanted him. You gotta love a man that fights for what he wants.
All in all Fire in You was a great book, not the best in the series, but still great. It was a great ending to the series, and while I’m sad that we didn’t get a Katie book, I really think she didn’t need one. I mean she really was the only who had her shit together. Hands down is this one of favorite series and that along with being a huge Jennifer Armentrout fan is why I reread this series every year. If you haven’t read any of them but you love contemporary romance, then do yourself a favor and check out this series.
“I love you like I wish I allowed myself to when we were younger. I love you because you’re not just sweet but you’re kind. I love you because you have this fire in you that you don’t even recognize, but I do. You’re strong and you’re a survivor.”

There were some things that I would like to have seen differently and I do think this was my least favorite book from these series. I think it also had to do with the fact that I was expecting so much more from this book. However, there also were a lot of parts that I loved. I loved the whole fighting MMA aspect of this story and I wish there was a bit more of it. I felt it was a bit lacking that way. I also really missed some action, it was a slower book for me. What I really liked about this book was Jillian and her character and I think that was the best thing about this whole book. The character development of Jilly was just amazing. You really see her growing very step of the way and I loved that journey. I did like Brock, but there were a lot of things he could’ve done so much better and I feel he could have worked harder for their relationship. It was really nice to see some “old” characters again and reading about their futures and families. I felt there were some extra epilogues when you are reading the book and I loveeeed that. Overall, it was a good second chance romance book with very strong character development from the heroine.

I really did enjoy Jillian and Brock’s story. Brock was taken in by Jillian’s father when she was 8 and he was 14. Jillian became his shadow, and then she grew to love him. Until one night where everything changed. It’s been 6 years since she has seen him, since the horrific accident and he is back and determined to make up for lost time. Their love felt organic, but I also wish he was more open with her in the beginning. He obviously knew how she felt about him all those years ago and even if he was scared of his feelings he should have acknowledged hers. After more explanation I can see he wasn’t in a good place, but that was at the end of the book and it felt a little rushed to me. He did give me all the feels though.
Ok getting to this book is bitter sweet, I just had to do a series re read because well I love this series.
And it has been utterly wonderful getting to experience these old friends again.
Finding out this book was about Brock I was like yay!
Even if I am still holding out hope, for a Katie (the stripper/physic) book one day.
I went it as blind as I could, and I loved it. Jillian and Brock are amazing. And yes it is a little weird having a heroine named Jillian, and the same nick name I call my own daughter. But once I separated that from this book it was just awesome.
Pasts collide, and hearts are broken. But they heal and so does the past. This book really was about your inner strength and what you are capable of. I loved how Jillian fights to pick up and have a life after her past; she was kind of living in limbo for a long time.
Brock seems to have grown up from where he once was and I think he came to terms with things long before coming back into Jillian’s life. Sure he wasn’t 100% there because I think we was looking for Jillian’s, not approval but maybe a little of her forgiveness. And once he feels he had that he was all in.
I loved Rhage! I mean really he is totally one of my favorite Brotherhood Brothers and for the cat to totally be called Rhage. Love, Love, Loved. Also being that I am a total cat person, and I talk to my cats like they will talk back I love that Jillian does this a lot in the book too.
I was a little leery of a new narrator after listening to Dreaming of You, and not liking that audio. I thought maybe this was going to be like that because I was used to Sophie Eastlake’s narration of this series.
But I am so, so happy to report that Erin Bennett hits a home run. At least for me she does. She can do the male narration effortlessly; I love all the voices she did for the rest of the female characters when they were in the same scenes. I recommend this audio!
Well worth the credit.
