The year is 1969. Though there is war and unrest in the world, on August 15th, on a farm in upstate New York, a little concert will go down in history as the most famous music festival of our time: Woodstock. It also happens to be the day Bonnie McMillan and Peter Hampton meet and begin their free-spirited love-filled journey with each other. What happens at Woodstock stays at Woodstock, right? … right? Nope!
Fast forward forty-seven years. Bonnie unexpectedly passes after a night of hot sex and is whisked up to Purgatory, ‘The Green Room’ as they call it. Bonnie’s best friend meets her at the pearly green gates and the fun begins, from body sculpting to channeling.
Follow Bonnie on her erotically incorrect quest to re-connect with the love of her life. Or at the very least, make sure the sex toys are hidden before the kids start sorting through her things!

Desperately Seeking Sixty-Nine: A Spicy Romantic Comedy About the Afterlife (The Green Room Chronicles Book 1) by J.D. Frettier
4 stars
Well this book started off in a way i’ve never experienced, but it sure is memorable.
This was a very quick read and i won’t recap the synopsis either. But I did laugh and enjoy reading this book and this authors take on what happens after you pass on.
Can’t wait to dive into the next book.
Desperately Seeking Sixty-Nine: A Spicy Romantic Comedy About the Afterlife (The Green Room Chronicles Book 1) by J.D. Frettier
Stars-4
Desperately Seeking Sixty-Nine was short and funny story! It takes us through one woman’s experience with the afterlife with a sense humor, spiciness, and love. I very much enjoyed this story, and I will be excited to read what happens next in this series!

This is a fun, short read. Bonnie suddenly dies and leaves her husband of forty plus years alone. Her best friend Dee meets her and whisks her away to the Green Room. It is like a sexy purgatory. Bonnie realizes that she left her sex tots out before she died. In a panic, she pleads with Dee that she needs to contact Peter to tell him to put them away before their children find them. Comical shenanigans ensue that will have you laughing out loud. There is a lot of peace and love and sex. The Green Room sounds like a place I’d like to do to after I die.
A great read about life. When Bonnie dies, she is sent to the Green Room, a version of the afterlife. But when she gets there, all she wants to do is be with her beloved husband Peter who is still alive on Earth. Desperate to be with him, she tries everything. Is their love deep enough to even bridge the afterlife?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like the grief stricken Peter or the independent Bonnie. Great cast of supporting characters like the fun loving Dee or the strict and bossy Dharma. The only issue I would raise is that Bonnie was repeatedly said to be a fun loving free spirit, but in the afterlife this didn’t come across
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel wit the continued use of green bright and colourful instead of the whites heaven usually is, refreshing as a sign of hope in the afterlife. I also liked the garden, as a source of peace and tranquillity with tis grass and benches and fountains.
A different take on the afterlife that was refreshing with old friends and jokes making it feel more believable than other versions and the puns with the names was a great touch.
The memories of the past worked well to display how the love between Peter and Bonnie began and how it grew over time and didn’t disrupt from the narrative of the present. I also liked how the novel started straight into the action, grabbing the readers attention with the hospital scenes. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars.
Desperately seeking Sixty-Nine by J.D. Frettier a four-star read that will surprise you. This is the first novel in the Green Room chronicles, and I am hoping I can get to read number two soon. I honestly didn’t know what to think when I picked this one up, and I’m glad I did as it was so much fun, but I am still a little in wonder about what I read. I have often wondered about what happens after we pass and where we go, and this story gives me hope. I know its only fiction but its funny and will put a smile on your face if you are old enough to read as this does contain very adult story lines. What more can I say other than bring on number two.
Desperately Seeking Sixty-Nine: A Spicy Romantic Comedy About the Afterlife by J.D. Frettier is the first book in The Green Room series. I was not sure what to expect with this book when I saw the cover and title but was pleasantly surprised. This is a short, fun, and humorous read. Bonnie has passed away and is greeted by her friend Dee to the Green Room. She teaches her the ropes and this allows Bonnie all sorts of abilities. I really enjoyed the interactions between Bonnie and her husband. I really wanted them to find each other again.
The characters are fun and written well. The story is short but it works and doesn’t over do the story by dragging it out. It was written with an open ending to allow for continuation of the story. I look forward to more from JD Frettier in the future.
Desperately Seeking Sixty-Nine is the first instalment in The Green Room Chronicles by J.D. Frettier. The Green Room Chronicles are a collection of novellas set in the afterlife. The Green Room is a place where you go until it’s decided if you’re going to heaven or hell.
The title of this novella can be slightly deceiving. Those of us with a dirty mind may assume what this story will be about, whereas infact the sixty-nine refers to the year 1969 when the heroine of our story Bonnie first met the love of her life Peter.
However if you are of a dirty mind and looking for something a bit racy then this story will fit the bill. While in the Green Room, Bonnie has several flash backs to sexy times with her husband and also ‘visits’ him to keep their passion alive.
While very short, at only 45 pages, there is a lot packed into this novella. I already have books 2 & 3 on my kindle waiting for me to see what J.D. Frettier has in store next for those in the afterlife. Well worth reading!
Want romance, steam AND laughs? Then this one’s for you! Check it out!
Hilarious!!! I really want Bonnie to be my grandma:)) we all know that she passes after a wild night with her husband. What a way to go!! But what it’s really refreshing is that J.D wrote about the sexual life of people that are not in their 20s and 30s but beyond, a subject not many authors will approach. From there Bonnie emerges on an adventure to reconnect with her husband no matter what. Sweet novella but full of laughing out loud moments!!
Desperately Seeking Sixty Nine is a quirky little story. It’s not like anything I’ve read before. An old married woman dealing with leaving her hubby when she passes, how to connect with him, and how to hide their “toys” once she’s gone! It’s funny, a little crazy, and an enjoyable read. I finished it in one sitting. The bright cover is fun, too.
