Is there anything more complicated than murder? Yes, a long lost child…
We continue with Michele’s journey as she is making a home out of the house that her belated husband bought her as a surprise. She befriends her next door neighbor who tasks her with finding a long lost daughter. Tragically, this lady is murdered before Michele can get to the bottom of the story. Now, there are two mysteries to solve. While there is some foreshadowing, it was satisfying to turn the final “page” and eat my last piece of chocolate as a salute!
I loved this book from the very first page! This book follows Michele after her race in the previous book Going for Kona, which I also loved. Fast paced, filled with wonderful interesting and complex characters. The story has lots of twists and turns, murder and mayhem! I love MIchele! She is a very strong and brave character. I cannot wait to read more about her in the future!
Another epic Pamela Fagan Hutchins story as Michelle finds herself in the middle of another murder mystery. She is in her new home town trying to get her bearings a year after losing her husband. She has a potential new boyfriend along with new human and animal friends. I love the crossover with the Maggie series and how seamlessly they mix. It is another wild ride as she tries to stay ahead of the criminals and solve the mystery without getting hurt.
Another amazing read by Ms. Fagan Hutchins
Although I hadn’t read the previous book in this series, everything was laid out by the author so that it made no difference. Michele still hasn’t felt it necessary to move on after the murder of her husband and has decided to spend the summer alone of the property he bought as a surprise for her. She is still doing her running as they had done, but she misses his encouragement. When her neighbor asks her to write her memoirs about her life in the world of art, she accepts only to have Giget found murdered. She then finds out that Giget has left her most of her estate in exchange. Little does she know what she is getting into as danger and threats on her, her friends, and children’s lives come to the fore. However, she prods along to a truly surprising conclusion. Definitely a must read.
This next installment of the series was excellent. It also wove in characters from another one of Pamela Fagan Hutchins other series featuring Maggie Killian. It kept me entertained, interested and engaged from start to finish.
I highly recommend any of Ms Fagan’s books.
Michele goes to their summer home in the mountains. She is working on a biography of Gidget, whose real name is Anna. She was a co owner of an art gallery at one time. Gidget’s dog, Gertrude, leads Michele to her home to find her unconscious on the floor. Gidget later dies at the hospital. A will that leaves Gidget’s house to Michele is contested.A daughter no one knows about. Someone is trying to keep Michele from writing the biography and getting the house. Suspicious activities and break ins are happening. Enough going on to keep your interest until the end.
This book has all the feels, with a murder, some mayhem, and a lot of laugh out loud moments mixed in. This makes the book a wonderful rollercoaster ride of mystery and suspense that you won’t be able to put down.
Note: In exchange for my honest, non-biased opinion I received a free copy of this book
Absolutely my favorite book in this series to date and I believe readers will find this story entertaining, entrancing and page-turning.I can’t wait to read the next of Michele Lopez Hanson’s adventures. Having read Ms. Fagan Hutchins Maggie Killian stories, Fighting for Anna, tied everything together in a well written novel that explained all the connections in an amazing, interesting and exciting novel. The vivid, descriptive words enhanced my enjoyment because they had me visualizing events, people, places as if they were happening before my eyes.
Following the death of her mother, Michele’s father tells her she has a brother that was relinquished for adoption prior to their marriage. She becomes determined to find him, if possible. At the same time Michele’s neighbor, an unusual, eccentric woman (who calls herself Gidget but was born Anna), convinces her to write the woman’s autobiography. Unfortunately, the woman dies; apparently murdered. To add to the mystery, days later Gidget/Anna’s attorney calls to say Michele will inherit her farm, it’s contents and so on. She’s tasked with continuing penning the autobiography, finding the daughter given up for adoption and locating a rare, antique automobile that had belonged to the woman’s father, decades earlier, which she’s to give the long-lost daughter. But, was there really a baby born? If so, who was the father? What about the woman’s jaded history? Did she merely think she’d had a child? There’s people who don’t want any of those things to be discovered, which leads to danger and mayhem for Michele and anyone close to her. Gertrude, the deceased lady’s weird but strangely cute dog become Michele’s new sidekick.
Michele still grieves for and deeply loves her husband, Adrian, who was killed less than a year before, yet finds herself at a crossroads when Rashidi, an intriquing, attractive man, Michele met at a mutual friend’s wedding, invites her for dinner. He speaks with a sexy Islander accent that drives Michele to distraction. Add to that she meets Maggie, the owner of an “antique” shop and the odd pair become friends. They along with Sam, Annabelle and a cast of unique, sometimes frightening characters (including a guy called Lumpy, art gallery owner and a smarmy, sleazy politician named Boyd Herrington) take us on a twisting, turning adventure to learn Anna/Gidget’s backstory to reach the exciting conclusion about Anna/Gidget. To be continued..who is, where is Michele’s brother?
Love any Pamela Hutchin’s book she writes and this is no exception. I could not put it down. A who done it that you can’t figure out…love the main character, Michelle, and also that she brings other characters from her other series into this like Maggie. If you want a great book that keeps your interest…this is for you!
Michele is still learning how to live without her husband and now her children are getting ready to leave the nest, at least for the Summer in Sam’s case. Nothing is easy for her, not even retreating to the country home site her husband bought for their anniversary before his death. When a dog comes running at Michele and the kids their life will change forever once again!
A new mystery and intrigued are quickly throwing a monkey wrench on Michele’s plans for the Summer. She gets no time alone and some hair raising moments in this latest installation of series!
I always love the various characters, personalities, beliefs, etc. of Pamela’s characters and this book has a ton of my favorites! I actually started reading Pamela’s books with Live Wire and Maggie so it was great seeing her from before her stories begin.
I really loved this story and can’t wait for the next one!
This review is for the audio book
I enjoyed this book. You never know where Pamela is going to take you with one of her stories and this one a pleasant surprise. The book is meant to be a romantic mystery but as Michele’s husband died in the first part of the trilogy there is not much romance, although a hint of who it might be is given in this book. I can’t wait for book three to see who she ends up falling for. Don’t worry is you haven’t read the first one because it nicely goes over the previous book but not in to much detail that if you have read it you get bored. I managed to get through this book without any tissues and I loved learning more about Michele and her family.
After the death of her husband Michele moves into a caravan on the property her husband brought for her and soon meets her elderly neighbor. After learning the fact that Michele is a write she asks her to write her life story but Michele and her children stumble over her body before she can do more than unpack a box photos. When Michele discovers that she was written into the will in Lou of payment she feels obligated to continue with her wishes and write the book. This has far reaching conquerences as her story contains a secret that someone wants kept berried at any cost.
The narrator was good and easy to listen to.
