“I have not been this entranced since reading the House of Night series.”
“My mom had always told me – when you meet”the one,” you’ll know; they’ll captivate your heart the moment you lay eyes on them. I had always wondered, though, if my mom’s words of wisdom were finite – if they applied to everyone. Maybe those who had found their one great love were the lucky few, and maybe the rest of us would have to settle for less than earth-shattering.”
All seventeen-year-old Kathrin Walsh wanted when she transferred to a school for the Gifted was to feel accepted and normal, and she does… mostly. But when dreams of another boy make her question her relationship, kids go missing, and she learns something troubling about what she is and why her future will forever be altered, she quickly realizes that’normal’ is only an illusion, and that love can walk a fine line between captivating and maddening, or even worse – it can make you abandon all trace of reason. Love can be deadly.
From the bestselling author of the Alyx Rayer Trilogy, comes a refreshingly different Young Adult series with plenty of love, suspense, and a new take on the Paranormal.
Recommended for readers 16 and up due to mature content.

A simple mistake, and her old friends turned on her, and she (Kathrin/Kat) is sent packing to a school for gifted students. Although it doesn’t seem to be too bad, for she has made new friends and has caught the eye of a popular boy (Levi). At first she and Levi seem to have chemistry, but that might change when she spots a guy she is more drawn to. I enjoyed this interesting supernatural tale, that has kids with interesting magical like gifts, evil willing to take things from others, and some romance too. I liked Kat, she has her faults, but is willing to go far to protect those she cares about.

A quick dip into a rich world I can’t wait to explore!
This was a great story! In a world of hidden Gifted people with supernatural talents, Kat is half-angel setting her apart from the average Gifted student at her new high school. Senior year of high school is hard enough without needing to hide talents that would get you attacked both by mean-spirited teens and supernatural threats alike! The descriptions of finding friends after her heartache in “normal” high school when people deserted her was very poignant and definitely hit home. (So was the description of looking like a poodle that stuck its paw in a light socket!)
I loved the way Kat felt pulled to the woods the students weren’t supposed to enter. I was worried for any number of evil forest tropes, but pleasantly surprised by what she found instead. It brought on a nice smile when I realized the author had totally played my suspicions with all the “don’t go into the woods at night” warnings. Tropes are great, but breaking them is good, too. The heroine seemed like a good mix of confused teen and daring idealist, which was a good fit for a magical academy novel. Definitely enjoyed this, and would recommend it!

This was a nice start to the series. There were parts that were a little too drama filled for me but all in all a nice read.
This was a YA paranormal read that was fun, and had some drama. As a main character, Kat is very likable main character that is strong, and has to figure out what love truly is. Her journey is funny at times and filled with angst but was an enjoyable read.

Captivate Me by S.J. Pierce is such a great story to read. This is book number one in this great start to a brand new series that I am hooked on and can not wait to read the rest. I recommend this story to everyone who likes reading about fantasy and paranormal romance in their stories.

Kathrin is a half angel and when her powers couldn’t be hidden anymore her parents sent her to a special school but kept her angelic heritage a secret. Levi was the most popular senior at the new school and immediately fell for Kathrin. Gabriel and his group of immortals were hiding in the woods outside of the school when Kathrin and he discovered each other. This was an interesting and intriguing love story with twists and turns, a bit of danger, witches and spells, death and disappearances lurking in the wings. Good read.

Kathrin is half angel and gifted with telekinesis. She is in classes at Midland Pines, School for the Paranormally Gifted. Witches are in the woods, looking for half angels – they need six each to give them immortality. Suspense to the highest degree surrounds the school and witches that are up to no good. Stress of high school, first romances, friends both good and bad, altered by their special abilities and trust, cause misunderstandings and uneasiness. Truths are given during a particularly horrendous period in the woods. Romance and trust are rebuilt among friends. The ending will blow your mind with a whole other scenario coming up in the future. All I can say is OMG!!

I liked this book. The story was well written and flowed beautifully. The characters were well defined within the story and they had such great chemistry. I loved the ending. If you like the works of this wonderful author, then this book is a must-read.
This is a great read for the YA group. It’s an entertaining story filled with mystery and suspense as well as tons of emotions. The characters are strong and the story moves fluidly. The author paints her scenes perfectly and kept my attention from start to finish. I enjoyed and would recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Before I begin my review for Captivate Me (Captivate book one) by S.J Pierce, I would personally like to thank the author, publishers and Booksprout for the opportunity to read this ARC and I have reviewed it honestly.
A bewitching blend of Marvels X-Men meets Vampire Academy, Captivate Me brings a romantic and unpredictable tale to life. Kat, an energetic half-breed with telekinesis powers, discovers boys, friendships, secrets and sinister plots as she attends Midland Pines, a school for the paranormally gifted.
Captivate Me features, but is not limited to, the following themes:
YA fantasy
Gifted school
Supernatural abilities
Love triangle
YA romance
My overall rating for Captivate Me is…
4 Stars!
Oh I’m a sucker for a good old love triangle! This book was an exciting supernatural acadamy novel, with X-Men qualities that made it unique to what I have previously read in this genre. When the punchline hit, it hit like a mother freaking semi-truck! Pierce brings exciting and attractive characters to life in an unexpected world of paranormal. Overall, Captivate Me was a pleasant starter to a promising series.
This is a story about Kat a gifted’ girl with telekintetic powers. This is a very intense read that is in a gifted school. This story will have you o the edge of your seat and loving the words that are rolling off the pages.
“Captivate Me” is the first installment in the “Captivated” Series by S.J. Pierce, a young adult, paranormal romance series, set in Midland Pines, a paranormal school for gifted teens. Kat Walsh is an Irish girl, the offspring of a fallen angel and a prophet, who jumps at the opportunity to attend the school in the US and flee the constant abuse and torment in her home country, where she is considered a cursed witch due to her telekinesis gift.
The story takes place in the closed environment of the school, which allows for lots of paranormal and unexpected occurrences and plot, without the “normal” world playing a role in the story. There is some suspense under the all-encompassing love triangle between Levi-Kat-Gabriel. It’s a quick read, entertaining and easy to read, that would appeal to Twilight fans the most (no vampires included!). I just wish the author wouldn’t have picked Ireland (as Kat hometown) for the sake of picking something, as it really does not play a role in the story and convey a very inaccurate view of the country.
I LOVED every word of this book! It’s dark, and romantic. I was really engaged through the whole book! I can not wait to read the rest of the series!
