After reading, Fractured Ties by Bethany-Kris, I knew that I had to dive into Seasons of Betrayal. I was curious about Kaz. I wanted to know more about his little sh*t nature. I wanted to see how he won the girl and how he fought to keep her. The first book in the series, Where the Sun Hides, was criminal organization overload. There wasn’t only the Italian mafia but there was the Bratva. The language, cultures, and codes are different. I was interesting to see how the two organization clashed and how Kaz was going to make a relationship work with the one and only Violet Gallucci. I mean how can a Italian supposed to be with a Russian?? It was amazing to find out.
4.5 forbidden mafia !! Another excellent read from Bethany Kris !! I don’t think that there is a book of hers that I don’t love!! Definitely a must read!!
Bethany-Kris is well known for her Italian mafia and London Miller for her Russian mafia books. What happens when these two talented authors co-write a book? You get a forbidden love story between Violet, an Italian principessa della mafia and Kaz, a Russian Bratva heir.
After half a decade of fighting between the Markovic Bratva and the Gallucci Cosa Nostra, a street war that killed nearly thirty men between their respective organizations, there is a secret meeting to find a middle ground and stop the fighting. A decade or so later on Violet’s 21st birthday she and her friends decide to party at a new club in Coney Island, which is a no man’s land but still off-limits to her. At that club she meets Kaz who gives her a ride home. They then meet again a couple of days later and both feel a strong pull towards each other.
What I really enjoyed was that they didn’t fight or hide their feelings. It wasn’t a cat and mouse game where the girl hides her feelings and plays hard to get and the guy does all the hunting. I really liked both Kaz’ and Violet’s characters. They were honest and straight to the point. Even though Violet is a Mafia Princess she still has her own strong personality. I really loved that Kaz made time to spend it with Violet. That made it possible for them to really grow as a couple and actually get to know each other.
Even though they keep their relationship a secret, there are eyes every where and it’s just a matter of time before it’s discovered. The ending in my opinion was fitting. It makes me want more and has me creating scenarios in my mind to what will happen next. I was glad this book had dual POV, because I am always curious to read what goes on in the male character’s POV. The pace of the story was great, the writing style was very easy to follow and kept me interested till the end. I am looking forward to reading what will happen next in this series!
