I have such a Love/Hate relationship with this book!
I adored Ludan and Brenna (Well, Ludan a tinsy bit more because it’s Ludan) and hate that it’s the last one (I really, really, REALLY want Jagger to have his own HEA…maybe a novella??? :D) But, there is only so much begging I am able to do, so on with the review…
Eden’s Deliverance is the finale to the Eden series and a huge weight has fallen on Brenna’s shoulders. The prophecy has stated that she is the key and the decision lies with her. She’s less than thrilled at the knowledge because she now feels as if she found herself in another prison. My heart hurt for Brenna. All she wanted was to live life on her own terms, but that road had quite a few roadblocks she had to traverse, but traverse them she did. I’ll admit that there were a few times when I got a bit frustrated with Brenna, but after remembering all that she endured I realized that she deserved to discover the woman she wanted to be. It was definitely an interesting journey to be on with her and I spent much of the time thinking “The grass isn’t always greener” but I loved the woman she was always meant to be. Sassy, strong, compassionate, loyal and with a few insecurities to remind us all of her humanity.
Ludan I adored. Not that it’s a huge surprise considering I mentioned him in each review I did for the books in the series, but I couldn’t help myself. I love the tall, dark, handsome, broody ones because there is always, ALWAYS, more going on underneath the surface and I love watching as the cracks start to show and the truth of what makes their heart is revealed and dear lord did Ludan have a lot going on under the surface. He’s been carrying a heavy load on his broad shoulders, as well as his heart and mind that’s it’s a wonder he hasn’t shattered from the weight of it. But even though he’s the grumpy gus of crew has a, not a marshmallowy inside, but a gentle soul and a compassionate heart.
Their road to their HEA had a few bumps along the way, but most of the extenuating issues were from outside factors (like Serena and Uther’s silly beliefs that they had the right to hold any kind of power) Much of their journey dealt with both of them working through their own personal demons and taking off the blinders to see what was right in front of them and once they did things got a lot more interesting. While Ludan was the epitome of the over protective alpha male he wasn’t an asshat. He gave Brenna what she needed to grow. And Brenna was no doormat. She stood up to and for Ludan. Their interactions were fun and sexy as sin (Either have an Arctic bath ready or your B.O.B) but I loved how they ended up healing each other, but bringing out the best in each other.
Everything ended up as it should have, though I still feel that going with the whole gutting Serena with a spoon thing would have been better (sorry she irritated me a lot lol), but she did get what she deserved in the end, so I’m good. I really am sad that this is the end of series because it was a fun ride, I never would have imagined Eden to be like this, but I’m going to keep my toes crossed that one day Ms. Morgan will find the inspiration and time to give Jagger his own HEA, even if it is only a novella, because he comes in right behind Ludan on my list.
