The Montgomery Ink series continues with the brother that deserves a second chance, and the woman who has always loved him.
Alex Montgomery lost his first love and then proceeded to leave himself in the bottle. Only he and his ex-wife truly know why he fell so hard and so fast down a path he never thought he’d take. Now he’s clean, out of rehab, and learning how to be a Montgomery once again—a … again—a task that isn’t quite as easy as some of his family assumes.
Tabby Collins is an honorary Montgomery and the organizational mastermind behind Montgomery Inc., the family’s construction company. She loves her planners, friends, and a certain dark-haired man who’s never given her a second glance.
Alex is slowly re-immersing himself back into the world, but the demons he faced before aren’t out of the picture, and he’ll have to learn to rely on others to make it out whole. When Alex discovers that Tabby’s life is in danger, he not only finds a way to help her but also learns the true woman behind the soft smiles he’s always seen. Their romance won’t be an easy one, but nothing this passionate and heart-pounding ever is.

Alex Montgomery is trying to be comfortable within his family once again. He is sober but his life has still been turned upside between his alcoholism and his divorce. Tabby works for Alex’s brothers Wes and Storm. She also has had a crush on Alex for years. I LOVED this book. Tabby and Alex were perfect for each other. Alex has come so far from the man who made a scene at Decker and Miranda’s wedding. I believe this is probably my favorite Montgomery book so far. Tabby’s brothers were also great. I can’t wait to get to their books.
The story was a little slow, but ok. Alex reintegrate s with the family and falls for Tabby. The whole push/pull, “am I good enogh” issue arises, but not for as long as usual. Danny’s brothers are introduced. Alcoholism and recovery are discussed.
I honestly thought when Alex’s ex was brought into the picture the book would pick up. I also thought Alex would share his story with his family. Wrong on both counts. Had that happened, I think the book would have been more interesting, and a little less “meh”.
Alex and Tabby are together, but I don’t feel any overwhelming sense of romance. Yes, they have a sexual relationship, but it seems like the romantic part is strained. They do end up with their HEA.
I still have to find out what the deal is with Wes and Storm, then I am done. I remain hopeful.
Love this author, love the Inked series (not sure that I have a favorite cause I just love them all). When I am finished, I want the next one. Keep up the entertaining writing that sucks you right in!
This was the story I have been waiting for. I love all the Montgomery’s but Alex held a special place as he was the most broken. His story was perfect as was his HEA with Tabby. I also appreciated that he was an Alcoholic and it was at the forefront of who is was and will be. It was not a subject taken lightly. His struggle was realistic. This story made my heart happy.
Love this series! I can’t put it down once I start a book!
Leave it to Carrie Ann Ryan to throw her readers another curve ball. Here I was expecting Tabby to end up with one of the twins not with Alex. However, I see how they fit each other so perfectly. Alex and Tabby are two very different people yet have both been broken down by past relationships. This book is packed with two tragic stories, lots of steamy romance and of course one very happily ever after. This book just goes to show that love will prevail no matter what, you just have to be willing to take that leap of faith in another human being. I admit that I was not really looking forward to Alex’s story since all we had seen of him so far was a drunken miserable Montgomery boy. To my surprise, his story revealed so much about his character and my heart hurt for the tragedy that led to his drinking. Overall, It was refreshing to have a main male character who is overcoming a struggle instead of always reading about the strong alphas males that most romance books have. What a great addition to the Montgomery Ink Series!!
I love the Montgomery clan and wish I could go live with them for a week or two. Each book by Carrie Ann Ryan in this series gets better and better. I knew that Alex’s story would be a hard one to read and while it touched some areas on addictions, it was so well written.
Tabitha…Oh our OCD office manager cutie pie…You can just see her so clearly in this book. I have read all of the books several times and she is in mist of them, but in thus book WE GET TO KNOW HER . The heat…Oh yes…the struggle we feel is so real and in true Carrie Ann fashion we get peeks at a few new folks who may just show up in up coming books. My guess is Wes and Storm will be seeing action soon.
As always great read, that I had to stay up to read the moment it hit my kindle.
