Two brothers. A brilliant, young lady. And a love that will not be denied. When ROSE LAWSON meets a handsome, and yet, intelligent man at the British Museum, she quickly fancies herself in love. However, upon hearing his name, anger boils in her veins. His name is familiar. Too familiar. In the worst possible way.Rose knows she ought to hate him…but her heart refuses, traitorously urging her to … traitorously urging her to consider his plight.
Torn from his old life, CHARLES DASHWOOD finds himself wandering the British Museum alone. Gone are his friends with whom he shared his interest in antiquities. Gone is their companionship.
In his desolate state, he comes upon a young lady, who seems to share the very passion he is now forced to ignore. A stimulating conversation ensues, which takes a turn for the worse when she learns his name…or rather his twin’s name.
All of a sudden, Charles is faced with a problem not of his own making. From what he can gather, Rose has met him – or rather his brother – before. And the circumstances couldn’t have been favourable.
Will Charles be able to win Rose’s heart without betraying his brother? Will his brother stand idly by and watch as Charles loses the woman he loves in order to keep his secret?
This tale by a USA TODAY bestselling author shows that while first impressions can be wrong…true love always triumphs.

“A Brilliant Rose” , book 2 in Bree Wolf’s “A Forbidden Love Novella Series” is just as romantic as the first book in the series ” The Wrong Brother”. Most historical romances follow a similar plot line. Having read historical romance since I was 10 years old and my mother gave the county library permission to introduce me to the extensive collection of literature beyond the children’s section, I have come to recognize the similarities. Yet, with this series, and especially “A Brillant Rose”, Bree employs a very different plot. I found my self caught up in the story wondering how she was going to resolve the hopeless situation her characters were in. As usual Bree Wolf brought her novel to a masterful but unexpected end, happily ever after I might add. And as I read “The End” I was really sad to leave the church in regency London and return to my mundane life in rural Missouri. For a delightful brief afternoon, I was able to leave my concerns about our country’s future, pandemic and quarantine complications behind. For but a moment I was lost between the pages of a book to another place, time and even someone else’s life! Wow! It was magical! Thank you Bree and thank you that the series is available on Kindle Unlimited so I can pick up book 3 without breaking the bank!
Watching the twins try to climb out of a perplexing situation which they created was very entertaining to say the least. But all ended well and happily.
A Brilliant Rose is another outstanding historical romance by Bree Wolf. The more I read from this talented author, the more I want to read. Ms. Wolf has produced a well-written book. The characters are phenomenal.
Charles can’t stand in the way when his new wife and identical twin brother fall in love when they meet. Charles and his brother switch identities and leave Charles alone with the reputation of a rake. Rose is bookish and meets Charles at the British Museum, when she hears his name and recognizes him as the man that ruined her cousin she wants nothing to do with him. Charles and Rose’s story is full of drama, humor and misunderstandings. I enjoyed reading A Brilliant Rose and look forward to reading more from Bree Wolf soon. A Brilliant Rose is book 2 of A Forbidden Love Novella Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
WHOA MAN!!!
Let’s try this again! Wow, this is one quick read that takes you by surprise and left wondering “WHAT HAPPENED”? I have to hand it to Bree for spinning this one. Cudos. Thanks for sharing this surprising read with us.
2. Book 2: A Brilliant Rose : 5 stars
I received a free copy of the clean historical romance A Brilliant Rose: A Forbidden Love Novella book 2 by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
A Brilliant Rose is the second in this well written series of sweet novels. The story continues with Charles continuing to act as his twin, Robert Lord Norwood. Bree Wolf takes you through the isolation Charles feels with his new identity, the heart ache of being rejected for Robert’s reputation with women, and the love of a father for his daughter. This second and last in the Norwood Brothers tales expresses the adages of you can’t hide your true colors, a woman always recognizes the man she loves and, love conquers all. This is another heartwarming short story with a happy ending.
*Spoilers*
I loved Charles and Rose! They were wonderful! And so was Rose’s father. What I hated was the circumstances Charles found himself in. He sacrificed his whole life for his brother. Yes, he get’s Rose in the end, but he still isn’t part of the intellectual groups he once loved or able to converse freely with his friends. And that’s not changing, especially if he doesn’t want anyone to suspect he’s changed places with his brother. It broke my heart! And made me angry.
I haven’t read the first novella in the series, and I don’t want to. I would be so prejudiced against Isabella and Robert. It seems they get to be happy and Robert, a rake, gets to instantly be a more respected man, while Charles loses the ability to live the life he loved and gains the suspicion of society. At least he has Rose now, I guess.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I felt for the hero who inherited his brothers awful reputation. He truly lost a lot in helping his brother. But he did get his girl in the end. It was a happy ending.
A very well written romance, this Regency romance pulled out all the stops for me. When Charles meets Rose at the British Museum, he gets his first inkling of the difficulties his identical twin brother is going to cause him. Rose is honour bound to support her cousin in her grievance against Lord Norwood and she therefore has to go against all the feelings that he has aroused in her when he introduces himself. I really enjoyed the main characters in this book and my emotions were stirred up by the dilemma facing them. In the midst of it Rose’s mischievous father, Mr Lawson, played his part to perfection. This delightful clean romance is a follow on from The Wrong Brother and whilst both books are standalones, it does help to read them in sequence to really enjoy them, especially as the first book in this series is permanently free. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This story links in perfectly with Book 1 of this series! (The Wrong Brother). It tells us how the other twin, Charles Dashwood, falls in love with Rose Lawson and the strange situation they find themselves in.
Because of something her cousin told her, Rose doesn’t want anything to do with him and he is totally clueless as to why.
Of course as this is a love story and there is a happily-ever-after to look forward to which is so cleverly plotted by our author, Bree Wolf, that you will be kept guessing as to what will happen from scene to scene in this fast paced novella.
I loved the whole concept, the wonderful characters, the clever storyline, the wit and then there is the sigh-worthy moment when Charles and Rose finally sort themselves out.
I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary and unbiased review.
