Loved the 2nd book in the Wicked Trilogy. Emotional. Action-packed. Ivy and Ren will do anything to save the other, even if it tears them apart.
“I don’t know how long I’ve been in love with you, but it was probably that first night you flipped me onto my back, straddled me, and held a dagger to my throat. If it wasn’t that night, it was the first time you let me get close to you, let me see the real you under everything.”
I’m about to drop some info bombs from Wicked, so if you haven’t read it yet, either stop reading this now or prepare to have the previous book spoiled. Ready? So, by the end of Wicked, the Prince has come through the last working gate from the Otherworld, we find out that Val was the traitor who was working against the order and helping the fae, and the biggest of revelation of all is that Ivy is the halfling. Torn picks up right where Wicked left off and Ivy is reeling from learning that she is the halfling that Ren was sent to New Orleans to find and kill. After talking things over with Tink she makes the decision to not tell Ren but that decision ends up being taken out of her hands not much later. Two members of the Elite have arrived in New Orleans with the sole purpose of finding the halfling. Knowing what Ren went through when he found out his best friend was a halfling and then losing him, she can’t put him in that position again. But when she does finally tell Ren, he’s floored and walks away because he can’t process that Ivy is the halfling. Which means that he’s distracted and ends up getting captured by the Prince, who then takes his place so he can get to Ivy.
This book focused heavily on Ivy, with good reason, and I loved seeing her fire. She’s been though a lot in the previous book and in this one as well, but she doesn’t give up. She keeps fighting for herself and for Ren and fighting against the Prince. And while she has her moments of doubt, she doesn’t dwell on them, she pushes through and ends up coming out on the other side. While we don’t get to see as much of Ren or Tink in this book, we do still get quite a few scenes with them and those scenes just made me love them even more.
There is so much that happens in this book that it can take awhile to process. From characters being captured and then rescued to truth bombs being delivered that end up making the characters question everything that they thought they knew, you are in for a rollercoaster of a ride with this book.
“You’re this beautiful, wild, and brave woman. You’re incredibly loyal, and I don’t deserve your love, but I’ll take it. I’ll keep it close to me and I’ll never regret a damn second of doing so. You just also happen to be a halfling. That doesn’t change who I fell in love with.”

: Torn
: A Wicked Trilogy #2
: Jennifer L. Armentrout
: 4.5/5
Throughout the first book Ivy had already discovered that not everything is as it seems and there is a lot more she can learn about the fae and the order. And in this book we learn even more. The character development of Ivy was memorable to me in this book. I felt like she is even more tough than she was before and she is not easily dismissed. I had a lot of fun reading about the connection and the banter between Ivy and Ren. I feel like they are a good match. I thought I could not love Tink more, but surprise surprise… I DO. He is just such a genuine crazy character that I cannot help but love. The pace of this book was just as good as it was in the first one, it kept me entertained and wanting to keep on reading. That said, just like the first book, I still felt the book was a tad predictable. Because it is written so well it did not bother me too much. That ending was crazy and I am sooo glad that the next book is already released. I can’t wait to see how this story ends in the next book.

Torn is the second installment in A Wicked Trilogy. This book picks up right where book one left off and is fast-paced nearly all the way through. I’m so happy to say I ended up enjoying this one more than the first.
Once again, JLA’s humor had me grinning. Her books can be so full of emotions, raw feeling, and yet make me laugh so much. Tink is as hilarious as ever and he really has become my favorite character for sure.
Ivy is facing what it means for her to be the halfling. Meanwhile, her and Ren’s relationship simultaneously becomes deeper, yet rockier than ever. I listened to this book on audiobook and Amy Landon (the reader) does a great job acting out the characters (especially Tink!).
This book is a perfect sequel to Wicked, it picks up exactly where wicked left of. We get to see the road to acceptance that Ivy has to travel. Now that she knows the truth, her dynamics change.
No one can find out Ivy´s secret, her life depends on it but having to lie to the one person she cares about isn´t exactly easy and at the same time she is being hunted by a fae prince who wants nothing more than to get some one on one time with her.
This book destroys you and builds you up, it´s beautifully written, the plot is amazing; be prepared to experience every range of emotion there is out there. From ugly crying to fuzzy warm feelings we go through it all.
The beginning of the book is kinda slow but seen as it´s a continuation of the scene where we left off on book one it makes perfect sense.
Tink is and will always be my favorite character ever, I live for his antics and the things we learn about him on this book… there are no words. He is full of secrets and full of flair, if you liked him before you are going to love him now.
Ren and Ivy are magnificent, they are both brave and fearless but at the same time they are both loving and tender. I loved all their interaction. The Prince is just a creep with powers and I truly hope he gets what’s coming to him.
I got to be honest at the end of the book I had a foretelling moment and I hope I’m wrong because if something happens to Ivy I’ll riot, for sure.
Still love this author of course. This series is pretty good, too. I’m just not wowed or in love with the characters like I was with previous series I’ve read by this author.
Wow. This is one of those series that you are going to want to have the next book handy to immediately start the next one. This series just gets better with each book.
After the events in Wicked things have ratcheted up a notch and the stakes are higher in Torn. I loved all of the action that happens in this book. It had me glued to the pages the entire time. And after that ending I NEEDED Book three!
I know a lot of people had issues with remembering the events from Wicked since Torn did come out quite some time after the first book, but I read these two pretty close together and didn’t have that issue.
Of course same with the first book, I seriously enjoyed all of the characters. Ivy is probably one of my favorite heroines that JLA has written. And even with the more serious setting to Torn, as always the humor was gold. Like I said before, the stakes are higher in Torn. Which makes for a lot of tension and action. Was never bored once. I couldn’t stop reading.
Again like the first book, I absolutely devoured Torn and loved it. These books just get better with each one! This series is definitely not something you want to miss out on. Definitely one of my favorites.
I got the audiobook this time around and I think I sincerely loved the audiobook more. The story of Ivy and Ren Owens is one I have loved for a while now. This is the second book in the trilogy and we get to find out more about the Fae world and the Order secrets. Tink is the cherry on top as always.
Me before: I really don’t like paranormal books. Me in the middle of this trilogy: I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS AND I NEED THE NEXT BOOK. I am not kidding when I tell you that I am actually listening to the next book while I write this review. I didn’t want to stop listening to this book. I can’t wait to finish this series. This is my first experience with JLA, and it won’t be my last. Ivy, Ren and Tink are like my new best friends

Review:
OMG! I just love it! The first one was good. I was so surprised it didn’t get as much love and attention as it should. Well this one is even better. It is so darn good.
What is this book about
Well this book is about Ivy. Ivy is a member of the order and she fights fae. In the first book we see how she meets Ren and how they fall in love. Ren isn’t just any order member he is one of the elite. In the last book we see that the fae prince escapes and nearly kills Ivy. But that isn’t all. We also find out that Ivy is a so called halfling. A mixture of fae and human. And that she is the “thing” that ren was ordered to find and kill.
Well this book takes of where the first one end. Ivy is trying to come to terms with what she is. She is scared to death that if she tells Ren he’ll leave her and will kill her. Not only that the fae prince wants her. He wants to impregnate her in order to create a baby so he can open to doors of the other world and take over the earth. To make matters worse since the prince tasted her blood he can find her anywhere. There isn’t anywhere on the planet that she could run….
What did I like/love about this book:
Well I just love Ren. He is just amazing. But also I really love Ivy. She is a strong, very loyal and funny girl. I just loved seeing how much she was growing in this book.
The one who did the most growing is Tink. I won’t say anything els but that. You’ll understand after you’ve read the book.
I really liked the Fae world and how the story changed. I can’t wait to read the last book!
Overall I just loved the story line. Seriously I have yet to read a book by jennifer that I didn’t like or love. She is just amazing.
Rating:
5 Amazing Stars
5/5 Engaging, intriguing and fun to get lost in this otherworldly New Orleans setting. This isn’t necessarily my “go to” genre but when I need a reprieve from the usual, Jennifer L. Armentrout never disappoints! Can’t wait to read “Brave” the conclusion to this excellent trilogy.
