The second novel in a hot new urban fantasy series that reviewers are describing as “Packed full of action, emotion, and powerful writing!”

Lone Wolf Dawn is Aimee Easterling’s 2nd book in her Alpha Underground Trilogy. Fen and Hunter are working to save as many bloodings as they can. They hope to give them a safe place to stay and to learn to be proper werewolves, including heeding the dangers such a life brings. Fen must also decide if she is ready to confront, and possibly befriend, her mother that walked out of her life twelve years ago taking her father with her. Changes are happening rapidly. They want to pull their ragtag group of shifters together and make a bid for pack status. Can they manage this in time? Will it be enough to grant them the indepence they so deeply crave?
The storyline is fast-paced, well written and easy to read. It is filled with danger, lore, intrigue, politics and mayhem. The characters are well developed and endearing. I particularily like the bloodling pups. I can’t wait to see how this trilogy ends!
I really loved the first one so I figured I would give this a go. It starts of pretty slow but picks up about half way through. I love the additions of some new characters as well as seeing some old ones. The story is good and sets it up for a third book. I did listen to this on audio. Angel Clark did a good job.
Fen left behind her pack to confront the family that seemingly abandoned her years ago. Leaving Fen insecure, untrusting and with a big hole inside. Along the way Fen and Hunter team up to save the lives of many Bloodling pups. Their bond grows stronger but Fen still keeps part of herself locked away. Misfortune befalls Fen as she finds herself the prime suspect of a criminal investigation. With danger lurking around every corner Fen has to work quickly to figure out who the real perpetrator is and why they are after her mother before it’s too late.
I liked Lone Wolf better than the first book. Fen’s character grows quite a bit in this part of her journey making me like her so much more than before. I also liked how the relationship develops between Fen and her mother. The ending was just the beginning for Fen and her group. I look forward to continuing their journey in the next book.
Fen is trying to put her life back together after splitting from her pack. Hunter, her mate, also leaves her after they’ve rescued a group of shifters kind of stuck in their wolf form. She’s on a mission to locate her long lost mother, only to run in to one danger after another once she finds her.
I didn’t like this one as much as I did the first one, but it was a good story. As strong as Fen is as a character, I thought she came across kind of whiny. Her emotions are put thru the wringer, and I know that’s why I came up with this impression. She is a great character that faces lots of trials & tribulations, and she does finally except what all fate has thrown at her. This is an easy 4 stars.
Exciting and heartwarming adventure…
This is the second book in the Alpha Underground series, and it is a wonderful, exciting, and engaging installment that will surely capture your attention from start to finish. I enjoyed experiencing Fen’s continued evolution into a more confident and more trusting person/werewolf. Her relationship with her mother is a big part of this story and it was wonderful to see how past grievances were resolved. Her relationship with Hunter also plays a significant role in this story and, happily, it also matures into something with more substance. There is plenty of action, villainy, and intrigue along the way to keep the reader’s interest from waning. New characters are introduced, both werewolf and “one-body” (human) which will hopefully become regulars in this wonderfully entertaining series. I listened to the audio version of this book while reading along with it on my e-reader and I think that whichever format you prefer, you will be delighted. It is easy to become so immersed in the story that you sometimes lose patience with the narrator and want her to read faster but that is true of any really good story. I found the narrator’s cadence and inflections somewhat annoying at times (too much emphasis on “I”, “me”, “my”…) but felt that, overall, she did a good job. The violence is not graphic, the language is not foul, the sex scenes are steamy, and the basic story is captivating. Another winning story from this talented and imaginative author. I am very much looking forward to more from this series.
What a joy to see how Fen’s maturing and her pack is growing. Hunter and Fen’s Love is growing stronger too. It’s a joy to see a “weak” wolf still growing into an awesome leader. I love how they are collecting their pack by saving “misfits” like both Fen and Hunter. I couldn’t put this book down. I also love how Fen’s mom was introduced into the storyline.
