I would recommend Paws off the Boss to people (like me) who like mash ups of romance/suspense/action/mystery. And puppies.
I thought this was a really cute book. I especially liked the Mollim part. I also really appreciated that there was a little bit of suspense, a little action, a little mystery, a love story and a bunch of puppies.
This was the first book I’ve ready by Casey Griffin but I will read more of this series.
I received a copy of this book at my request (and purchased the kindle version), and the opinions in this review are my own.
I totally enjoyed this book. The characters were great and the plot was intriguing. I will definitely read more of Casey Griffin.
Piper and her pup keep Aiden running to catch up. Cute storyline, fun read!
Piper is a klutzy, struggling veterinary student who is trying to hold down three jobs to pay for school. Aiden is a billionaire philanthropist who sets out to help Piper get out of trouble whenever he can, which means he has his job cut out for him in this story. The characters are cute, but the amount of trouble they get into and the sheer number of villains causing chaos in this book will turn your hair grey. There are a lot of good aspects to this book but it is a little chaotic and cluttered with all of the action going on that manages to overshadow the romance. If readers are looking for a cute book full of action more than romance, then this is definitely a good choice. The animals will steal your heart and you will be cheering for the happy ending when it finally arrives.
An enjoyable enough read but it seemed to drag quite a lot before it got “to the point”. And even then it seemed to drag.
The main characters however were wonderful and made you like them, this includes Colin, Piper’s dachshund and Sophie, Aiden’s newly adopted dachshund. I loved them!!! I also loved how Piper described the looks on their faces. And attributed human thoughts and feelings to them. My favorite parts of the book!!
The book is written from Piper’s POV and you like her from the very beginning. Working three jobs to make ends meet while in the last two weeks of veterinary school.
Aiden on the other hand took me a bit to like. I had to figure him out. I think this was mostly because his POV wasn’t represented.
As I said it was an enjoyable read but not one I’ll be putting in my ” favorites” pile.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Books with heroines who are portrayed as dumb, clumsy and impulsive are just not for me. The fast-moving ending while good was not enough to redeem this book for me.
This book has it all,it has humor, romance, action, and adventure. While it was big on romance and chemistry it has very little sexual content making it a read for most any adult reader. This book has more action than most romance stories and with lost of bad guys to choose from. It will keep you guessing until the end. You can’t help but root for this hard working, struggling student and all the drama befalling her life and job choices.

Started out a little slow but could not wait to see how it ended.
Piper is trying to finish veterinarian school and working multi jobs. When she loses one, she gains another by walking a dog for Aiden, who is wealthy. He wants to help her but she will not take charity so he has to be devious on that. Laughed a lot at the antics and banter. Like the characters a lot but would have liked to read more about Aidens side as it only gives Pipers. The storyline was fun with the animals and situations. Will be reading more by this author soon.

Okay, I will just start this review by saying the synopsis of this story really sucked me in. I felt that this book was going to blow me away with cuteness, swoon worthy moments and laughter. No, it didn’t. I must admit before getting to the root of things this is my first time reading anything by this author. Let’s jump into the review now. I will start with the bad things. This book is from the female main characters point of view only. Piper is the most frustrating woman I could ever meet. To be honest I don’t know how Aiden could put up with her. But I’d never know his thoughts and feelings because we don’t hear from the man. I like my books to be from both perspectives. It gives a completeness to the book. To hear what he thinks or how she felt in the moment….I love that about books. It’s truly my preferred way to read. Now, knowing this I was still interested in the book, because like I said the synopsis really pulled me in. I didn’t find out until the end that Aiden has a novella out or that’s coming out that tells things from his perspective. Not good enough. I don’t want to revisit this story. After reading the book I see what the author was trying to accomplish and maybe if Piper wasn’t so stubborn, frustrating and downright idiotic at times I might have found it funny. But there was so much wrapped up into this story the humor and irony of the whole situation didn’t make me smile but sigh instead. Aiden must have loved Piper as soon as he saw her because not many men would put up with Piper’s personality quirks. Things remained unresolved with her family. Her mom and brother whom she harps on all book long but we don’t even get a resolution of closure as to what happens between them. I’ve never seen a person more foolish. Proud and prideful doesn’t even fit in here. I can go on, but I don’t want to bash this author. Now, the good parts. When Piper wasn’t being so stubborn I loved her as a person. She loved animals, she was loyal, smart, brave to the point of stupidity…. The incident where things “heated” up in particular…. Wait, we’re talking about good things. She was truly a good woman. Aiden as well was very sweet and charming. I loved how he treated Piper and stuck by her side. But he had faults. I don’t like how he kept dismissing Pipers feelings about Tamara. I also didn’t like how he treated her in front of others. Sure, he explained why but when he was around those he worked for or Tamara for that matter he could have been boyfriend/I’m interested in Piper kind of Aiden. The author also put in some work setting up a nice set of friends Addison, Marilyn and Zoe. Whom I think can all get a book. But after reading this book I’ll pass on the others if they’re made. I regret it because I did enjoy so many aspects of the book… just not enough to warrant continuing the series of hunting down book one. Also, the last two things I don’t like…. I’ve worked ems all my life in a advanced life support ambulance…. How that whole situation with Willow and her partner rubbed me wrong. That scene was filled with such outright stubbornness and foolishness it put me off. Also the comment about firearms. I didn’t like that at all. It’s a shame that was put in the book being that I’m such a staunch 2a supporter. This grumpy bear gave this book 3 stars

Love the book cover! I must admit, I picked up this book as my first thought to the book cover was – it will be cute and funny, well I guess it was kind of both, but it wasn’t what I expected. Overall, it was good, so if you love stories of women trying to excel on their own while you have the man who has it all trying to “give a little” then this is your book. This is about Piper and Aidan. She has multiple jobs including volunteering in a rescue center and after losing a couple of her jobs partly due to Aidan, he then offers her a job as his dog walker.
Like I said the story is cute – but I would have thought the woman’s character would be stronger especially due to her ultimate goal.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! This is book is part of the A Rescue Dog series why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Aiden is sexy as all get out CEO prestigious investment firm, his life is business, then business and no time for anything fun. Piper working three jobs to keep her head above water (while putting herself through Vet. School, just until graduation) when she loses two of the three jobs, now she must find something (a job to replace the two she lost) and before long she and her fur baby will be out on the street. Aiden and Piper met sometime ago when one of her jobs required her to interrupt one of his meetings for a singing telegram thinking he would never see her again, but fate takes over. Piper has a stalker who is terrorizing her, chasing her from the center and in comes her hero (dressed in a suit that will pay her rent) Aiden. The chemistry is instant and intense, the magnetic pull can’t be ignored but throw in a stalker who isn’t letting up. Aiden has always had everything given to him, but he doesn’t act that way in fact he is down earth (real) Piper is the first women he can be himself and she isn’t expecting anything from him (doesn’t recognize his money). Piper and her side-kick Colin they are so funny together (Colin is human in dog form ), she doesn’t want to accept help (knows she needs it) and she does what needs to be done (unpleasant not such great jobs) to make her goal of graduation (paying tuition and bills). Will she graduate as expected, can Aiden convince her to let him help, can he convince her he is all in putting in the work for them to be them, Piper is stubborn yet funny, she is complicated all the things Aiden love, will they find out who/why her stalker is stalking her and can it all lead to happiness?
This story is about Piper who lost two of her three jobs . Piper afriad she and her dachshund will be tossed out on the street . Then comes her knight Aiden who made an offer to Piper to be his dog walker and Piper accept the offer . This is sweet with some funny moments .

Aiden Caldwell is the CEO of a prestigious investment firm. He meets Piper when she interrupts a business meeting to deliver a singing telegram. Aiden never thought he would see her again, only to run across her at the rescue dog shelter. He cannot help but like the spunky and independent female. Dangerous mishaps happen around Piper, endangering her life and that of her canine charges. Can Aiden convince Piper to trust him? Or will a misunderstanding destroy their budding romance?
Piper Summers cannot seem to catch a break. She works three jobs to put herself through veterinary school. Piper even volunteers at the Dachshund Rescue center with her doxie partner, Colin. She just needs to hold on until she graduates. Piper encounters Aiden Caldwell during a disastrous singing telegram gig. She soon finds herself a victim of a stalker, who is determined to chase her from the center. However, Aiden proves to be her knight-in-Armani. Can Piper learn to rely on Aiden? Or will she crash-and-burn?
Aiden is such a love! He may have been born into a privileged life, but he never once acted like a snob. Aiden does not believe he can fix everything with money or his company’s influence. I like how he can be himself around Piper. She is the first person he has encountered who does not want something from him. What I love the most about Aiden is how he taught Piper that it is all right to depend on others occasionally. That she does not have to deal with all her problems alone.
Piper is such a riot, especially her interaction with her partner-in-crime, Colin. She is a stubborn woman, one who hates asking others for help or assistance. Piper believes she must tackle the entire problem head on. I admire Piper’s drive and dedication. If it helps pay her tuition and bills, she will endure any unpleasant or degrading job. What I adore the most about Piper is her disinterest in Aiden’s money and influence. She may be down on her luck financially, but she refuses to rely on him for money.
PAWS OFF THE BOSS is the first book in Casey Griffin’s quirky, dachshund-oriented series, A RESCUE DOG ROMANCE. Its former title was MUST LOVE WEINERS. The author has received the right back to the series, and she decided to revamp the story. Of course, I had to read the changes. The story did not disappoint. It made me giggle and smile from start-to-finish. I am a dachshund mom, so it’s a delight to read a story with that particular dog breed.
PAWS OFF THE BOSS is a charming and hilarious tale of two people from different social standings learning to compromise to be together. I cannot wait to read the changes the author made in the next two books.

A Unique and Funny RomCom
Loved the dog rescue storyline. I’m glad the author gave dialogue to the barking and eye looks from the Dachshunds, Colin and Sophie. The main characters, Piper and Aiden showed good chemistry and a playfulness with each other. The story read smoothly and is one I’m recommending for your reading enjoyment. PEACE.
This author was new to me and I am glad I took the chance on her work. This was a cute one. That said, the first two chapters didn’t read easily. I’m not sure if it was sentence structure or just the author’s writing style, but by chapter 4, it was better (easier for me to read).
I really enjoyed her love of animals, and Aiden & Piper’s chemistry is good. The drama in chapter 22 is really well done. It got awkward a few chapters after that, then smooth to their HEA.
Overall, I enjoyed the read.

So I’ve had this book sitting on my bookshelf at home for years, like since 2016 when I bought it. If you know me or have followed me, you know that I adore all things that have to do with dachshunds, and so I had to buy this. I finally picked it up and got started back in October. But then I think there was a SmartyPants Romance release? And I got behind on anything that wasn’t a review book. So I kept this by my bed to read in between other books. It was a little rough for me at first. As I’ve mentioned I’m not always the biggest fan of third person for romance, but by the end of this book I really liked it. Back in April I saw the author posted that she will be renaming the first two books in this series because supposedly people don’t buy it because the word “wiener” is in the titles of those two. Well, as I commented to the author, and she agree with me, only someone who doesn’t own or love dachshunds would have a problem with that. I mean personally, one of the things I love to do on a daily basis is say something funny using the word wiener but referring to my dogs, but sounding like it is an innuendo or just funny. Oh well, I will still promote the book!
Rounded up to 3.5 stars. A quick read with humor, romance, and danger. Enjoyed it so much I immediately went after Romance #2.
