Abby McAdams can’t sleep. She keeps having nightmares about her grandmother. Cuddling up beside her friend, Riley, helps to ease some of the fears. Well, cuddling and the candy she keeps hidden around his apartment. She can’t help but feel an attraction to Riley too, but they are just friends…right?Riley has his own past that haunts him, but she thinks he might want to get to know Abby on a … on a deeper level too. As they fight their own desires to be together, the past comes back to slap them in the face.
When they finally give in to their lustful cravings, will their love be enough to erase their pasts or will it be just another broken heart for both of them?
“Lakeshore Candy” is the fourth in the “By The Lake” series, about the McAdams sisters, from author Shannyn Leah.
This book can be read as a stand alone, but for more enjoyment read them in the order of the series, as all the characters appear in future books.

Lakeshore Candy has its secrets like the first 3 books. This book was an easy read. There were lots of steaminess, romance, humor and tears to be shed. Most definite a must read. I’m not sure which McAdam’s sisters story I like the most in this series. I think Lakeshore Candy was the steamiest of all the books. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series, Lakeshore Lyrics.Shannyn Leah
This is the 4th book in the Lakeshore series and is as good as the others. In this book, the story concentrates on the wild sister, Abby. Each of the sisters have totally different personalities and Abby just seems like the fun rebel of the family. This book can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend reading all of the first three so it will give you much more of an understanding of dynamics of the family.
After her grandmother passed away, Abby stays in her house but also wakes up with nightmares. She had become friends with Riley who works next door at the bakery with his apartment above it. Abby counts on Riley as a true good friend who helps her and makes her feel safe. She often sleeps there cuddled up to Riley to get comfort after the nightmares They have been friends but their lustful feelings are getting stronger and stronger. With Abby and her feelings that Grandma is trying to tell her something and with Riley’s pass, which is unknown, they both decide to try to make something of their feelings and become more than just friends.
Loved the series. Kept my attention.
Talk about sexual tension, this story has it. Abby and Riley have been friends for a while. Abby is a wild child player and Riley keeps a distance. He helps Abby through a rough time. As their feelings grow, Riley will need to come clean about his past. A past that may push Abby away. I received a complimentary copy and I am giving a review voluntarily.
Abby has been by far the most relatable McAdam’s for me. How she hides so much of her true emotions, and always has a smile. I couldn’t help but feel like I knew who she truly was. Riley was so strong and quiet, yet you could see there was so much just waiting to come out. I loved how the two of them finally realized what was there. It was a journey through the mind and heart that I found to be warm, and soothing while also making my pulse race and had me flipping pages right until the end.
A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. Tragic is dealt with in different ways and this twist shows how to get through your demons and move on in life. Abby and Riley form a friendship when their grief they go through is understood only that it hurts to loose someone close. This is a stand alone read but the series is one to pick up and read.
Forgiveness, Mrs C, and the acceptance of loss.
Holy crap, Shannyn Leah’s books get better with each outing, and I am addicted to her small town series as well as the McAdams siblings.
This time it is Abbey’s turn, one of the youngest siblings along with her twin brother Avery, who’s story is next. She’s broken and lost. The death of her grandmother was the last straw, and even surrounded by a family of sisters with whom she is setting up the soap business she did as a hobby with her Gran, she feels alone.
Riley Boyd had once been restless and free spirited, just like Abbey is now. Whatever life he’d walked away from, and whatever had happened, he’s blamed himself for it, meaning he’s no longer participating in life. He doesn’t even own a cell phone, nothing that connects him to the past life he’d built, or the people in it. It’s a past that he won’t talk about, and only Mrs C seems to know anything about him. She knows about tragedy, having suffered the loss of her daughter and granddaughter in an accident a couple of years back. And she is a beautiful person for Riley to have in his life.
One thing Abbey does know, is that Riley has been the supportive friend that she’s run to when she needs it, and who’s sofa she’s sleeping on when she doesn’t want to be in her Gran’s house by herself. He’s also gorgeous and sexy, and even if she was attracted to him (and how could she not be???), Riley has her firmly in the friend zone. But that friend zone also seems to include heated stares.
Lakeshore Candy takes us behind the energised persona that Abbey projects to her sisters and gives us an insight into just how close she was to her grandmother. A well written continuation in this addictive series. I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book. 4.5 Stars.
Lakeshore Candy is the 4th book in the McAdams Sister.
This is Abby’s story. In the previous books in the series Abby comes across as flightly, a partier. Doesn’t take life too seriously. I always got the impression there was more to Abby than what we see. That she had hidden layers. Riley is the one person who actually ‘sees’ her. I think it’s because he has hidden layers too. He doesn’t talk about his past. Riley grounds Abby. He doesn’t try to control her or change her. Abby has re-occuring nightmares about her grandma.
The more time they spend together the more their sexual attraction builds. Both are afraid if they give in and act on their feelings that they will ruin their friendship. Through each other they they become strong individuals. Thanks to the advise from Mrs. C Riley knows he has to face his past so he can have a future.
Now these two have to compromise for a possible amazing future together.
I love a series that gets better with each book and in each book we reconnect with all the characters from previous books.
I love Abby and Riley. Though, so far I’m not too impressed with Riley’s sister, Cece but I get the feeling there’s more to her too.
I can’t wait to read Avery’s story.
Abby McAdams is the confident, sexy, party-going sister, or so she wants everyone to think. She’s having a tough time accepting her grandmothers death & the return of her sisters to town. She feels like she’s losing her mind. Thank goodness for her best friend Riley Boyd! He’s been there for her whenever she needs someone. Why is she starting to notice how sexy he is? She can’t ruin this friendship!
Riley Boyd has come to Willow Valley out of guilt. He’s ran away from his family, job & home. He doesn’t talk to anyone about his history. He found a job working for a bakery & is surprised how good he is at it. Abby McAdams is driving him crazy! They have a great friendship developing but he can’t help noticing how sexy she is. He has to keep fighting these feelings or it’ll ruin their friendship.
Shannyn Leah has given her readers another emotional story. The characters need to fight through their grief & learn to go on. Abby tries to hide her grief as if nothing has happened. Riley wallows in his feelings of guilt & grief. The way these two take on their journey with each other & for each other is incredible. Can Abby deal with it when Riley’s past comes back to haunt him or will she turn away.? I loved the updates on the characters from previous books but feel these stories could be easily read as stand alone books.
