Growing up, life is idyllic for Lily Rose Cates due to one constant – her father’s love. But in her sixteenth summer, all that changes without warning. There begins Lily’s struggle to find herself and the life she’s lost. . . .
Marriage promises fulfillment, but her happily-ever-after barely survives the honeymoon. Her husband’s sophisticated façade hides a brooding man with even darker secrets. … secrets. When all illusions shatter, Lily must make hard choices – abandon her husband or risk losing much more than her marriage. She flees their home in Detroit and sets out on a fearful journey to a house in Georgia that her husband knows nothing about. This is one woman’s compelling tale of love and survival as she finds her way back home to who she’s meant to be . . . in her father’s house.

This was a good book and read rather quickly. I hope that it never happens to anyone though!
Loved this book! Such an original story. So good!
The book held my interest trying to figure out how it would end
Sorrow, grief & triumph. Very good
the ending was corny
An easy read, but a somewhat predictable storyline. I kept waiting for an interesting twist but never quite found one. I was disappointed to see the author painting Detroit in such bleak terms. I’m from the Detroit area and aside from the weather differences and the niceties of southern folk greetings, I didn’t recognize the Detroit described. Maybe it was just me, but the story left me feeling like abusive spouses come from big cities, while handsome heroes come from the south. Just felt like too much inaccurate descriptions and stereotyping for my preference.
Way too formulaic for me.
It was hard to put the book down. Very good read!
Only 3 stars because some of the action was implausible – but to explain the inconsistencies would spoil the story for those who’ve not yet read it. It was interesting enough that I read the whole story though the ending was very predictable.
