Michael Flint is the heir hunter of last resort. A forensic genealogist and former clandestine agent specializing in high-end private investigations, he promises clients he can find anyone, anytime, anywhere—dead or alive. Laura Oakwood stands to lose more than $50 million in mineral royalties if she’s not found within seventy-two hours. But she presents an extra challenge: she’s been running … from the law due to her involvement in a deadly armed robbery twenty-eight years ago.
Texas oil baron Sebastian Shaw desperately needs Laura’s signature to take over her family’s oil fields. And Shaw’s bitter rival, Felix Crane, will do anything to keep that from happening. In a hunt stretching from dusty, hot West Texas to snowy Saskatchewan, Flint finds himself caught in the cross fire between dueling tycoons and avaricious mercenaries out for their own piece of the pie.
On Flint’s side? A knack for keeping himself alive, a hard-won moral code, and buried questions about his own family that drive everything he does. As Flint tracks Laura, he delves into his own murky history, whose secrets he is only now beginning to uncover.

Blood Trails is book 1 in Diane Capri’s Heir Hunter series. Michael Flint is an heir hunter who can find anyone, anywhere. Even those who thought they were well hidden. He’s the highest priced BUT what would you pay for the best…? The storyline kept me turning pages till the end. Make sure to set time aside to read this book because you will be consumed till you are finished. That said I did need to reread a few pages due to the timeline. Michael Flint is my favorite of Diane Capri’s leading characters. Blood Trails is an exciting and entertaining read.
Blood Trails (Heir Hunter #1), my fourteenth read from author Diane Capri. An enjoyable mystery by a fellow northern Michigander. Since I own both the Kindle & Audible editions I was able to follow along while being read to. Narrator Eric G. Dove’s narration made the book fly by and increased the book’s enjoyment. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Diane Capri’s new series is a must read. Like all Diane Capri’s books it is very fast paced and impossible to put down. The main character Michael Flint is the worlds best heir hunter. His expertise is locating missing and untraceable, to all but him, people. He is hired by a Texas Oil man to find the missing heir to a piece of land. If she’s found and her signature is obtained by a certain date the first Texas Oil man gets the rights to the land if not the rights transfer to another Texas Oil man. The reader is taken through many twists and turn on Flint’s journey to find the missing heir. I loved this book and can’t wait to read the next Michael Flint adventure.
I read this because I love Diane Capri’s other books, but this one was a disappointment. The characters were great, as usual for her, but the plot was slow moving until the end. Then it picked up. I also didn’t like that we don’t find out about Flint’s mother as the character who knew about her was killed off in the end. Or maybe not, because he wasn’t found after the avalanche, so maybe he’ll return in the next book. And I’ll probably want to read it because Flint was such a great character, and hope the plot improves.
This first book in her heir hunter series is entertaining and moves along at a rather rapid clip. Michael Flint, the heir hunter is a forensic genealogist who sets out to find Laura Oakwood and prove her a valid inheritor of mineral royalties that will significantly affect her financial future. His challenge is greater as there is a time limit on finding the proof. I have read many books by Diane Capri and have yet to be disappointed.
I like anything by Diane Capri but this Heir Hunters series was really entertaining.
Great lead man, very creative story that held me to the end and made me buy the second book.
Excellent read.
The main character hunts heirs, sometimes they are people who don’t want to be found or don’t know they are heirs to fortunes and legacies. Very original idea well developed and exciting.
Blood Trails is first in new series by Diane Capri. Flint is the finder of last resort. He can find anyone, anywhere. He has 72 hours to find a missing woman before her mineral rights worth $50 million expire. Thing is, she is on the run from a robbery of a convience store from 20 years back where two people died and she is on video shooting one of them.
Flint can supposedly find anyone, but has never bothered to try to find his mother who gave him up at birth? Never seems to occur to him to even look for her.
I have read a lot of books by Capri and like most of them. Wasn’t that impressed with this one. Not really sure what it was about it that turned me off, but before I finished reading it, I knew I wouldn’t read anymore in this series.
Not really a bad story, just a little off and not something I am willing to go thru again.
