Derek West is a self made man after growing up as the gardener/maid son. Cassie Storms was born to the life of privilege but she is not the uptight woman he thought she was from their past. When she walks into his office with a proposition to write a series of articles on him, all he wanted was revenge for the past. Things quickly change these two are so spectacularly in tune with each other it was a pleasure to watch them find their way and grow. Oh and to figure out the past.
Even though this is #3 in the series it could be read as a standalone but why would you want to!?! I highly recommend this one and all the others in the series. You want to know the Billionaire Bad Boys!
loved it
Not a fan of the language but the plot of the book is real and happens every day to women.
This is Book 3 of the Billionaire Bad Boys Series
This is the story of Derek & Cassie. Derek is a businessman. Cassie works for her father who owns a media company. Derek was the groundskeeper and the maid’s son, who worked for Cassie’s parents. They meet up years later when Cassie calls Derek and asks for a meeting with him. From there it’s all chaos and confusion because of their pasts. They have feelings for each other, which makes it more difficult. There are many revelations in this story, with a whopper of one near the end. Carly Phillips knows how to keep the reader on edge. Can’t wait to read Book 4.
I’ve said it before but it’s worth repeating…. I am not a fan of billionaire/millionaire lead males in books BUT when it’s Carly Phillips writing all bets are off and I’ll happily read about these guys!
Going Down Hard was another fab instalment in the Billionaire Bad Boys series and I LOVED Derek and Cassie’s story. It was hot and steamy second chance romance (which I AM a fan of) and it brought out all the feels.
We had met Derek in the previous books but still knew little about him. The influence of his parents, the difficulties he faced growing up and his determination all saw his life transformed from what it was when he first knew to Cassie as a teenager to what it was today.
Cassie’s family were pretty horrible. High expectations, lacking in care and attention and oblivious to how they made their daughter feel, they were never gonna win parent of the year, ever!
When they first get together it purely from a business POV but as they spend time together they both discover there’s more to the other than they thought and hearts and messy emotions come into play.
A well written story, with great characters, loaded with emotion, attraction, heat and angst, this is a must read! From the teaser set up towards the end of the book I cannot wait for the next instalment in this great series.
5*
I’m a fan of Carly’s books and this series is one of my favorites! As I started to read this book I was not a fan of Cassie; however, as I read further along I realized she was not a stuckup witch and was rooting for the relationship between her and Derrick. Their chemistry was off the charts hot and sexy as sin. This was definitely a great read and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!
Cassie Storm comes from a life of wealth and privileged, a life that definitely comes with it’s disadvantages, and steep list of expectations to live up to. And up and until now she has never had a problem going along with the flow and doing exactly what is expected of her, with the hope of it someday it paying off with a rewarding position in the family business. But her little hope is dashed when her father gives her brother the promotion that should have rightfully been hers, and then if things couldn’t get any worse her brother kicks her out of her home too. But with all this going on in her life there is one bright spot… Derek West coming back into her life. He has history with her father, but that doesn’t stop her from going after what she wants… now she just has to find a way to keep her family at bay, and finally get something she wants for once in her life!
Derek West has often thought of Cassie through the years, wondered what she has done with her life, and if she is just as beautiful as she use to be…so when she contacts him for a interview for her magazine he jumps at the chance to see her again. The minute she walks through his office door he is taken with her all over again, she is even more beautiful than he could have imagined, and she wants to spend time with him for her interview. How can he say no to that?
Once again Ms. Phillips has found a way to dazzle me with her exceptional literary talents, and given me a story line that I was able to fall right into and get completely wrapped up in, this is by far one of my favorites from her to date! From the instant these two appeared on the page you could feel the chemistry simmering between them, and even though they came from completely different worlds they found a way to meet on common ground and discover a happily ever after they both longed for. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with these two, their story made me smile, had me blushing a time or two, and tugged at my heart strings… and in my book it doesn’t get much better than that!!
Sometimes the second chance you never knew you wanted shows up at your door.
Derek West has made a name for himself while keeping his past private. He’s built an empire with his best friends and never wants for lady companions. Never one to let anyone too close, he a love ’em and leave ’em kind of guy. But if was honest with himself, there is someone that has always been in the back of his mind. She may have scorned him years ago but that doesn’t stop his attraction to her.
Cassie Storm knows she did wrong to Derek and has always regretted it, but in an effort to rebuild her family’s company she’s ready to face him again. She’s knows landing this exclusive interview would be huge to the company. She’s sees Derek for more than his past, his money, and his good looks, she sees the man inside.
Derek thinks he can work Cassie out of his system and walk away, but the more they are together the more he realizes she’s never been out of his system. But when the past comes back to haunt them, will they walk away from each other or find a way to leave the past in the past and focus on the future?
Going Down Hard is a captivating, charming, seduction second chance romance that have you falling hard for Derek and Cassie. The connection they have started many, many years ago and now it’s off the charts. I love how Cassie wants more than fame and money, she wants a love that’s true and honest. I loved watching Derek fall for the girl next door, and how he finally was able to move past the hurt and anger.
I really enjoyed getting catch up with Kaden, Lexie, Lucas, Maxie, and Kendall again. This group of people are more than friends, they are a family.
Going Down Hard is a sweet, sexy, and charming book that I was really sad to see end. Carly writes story with heart and depth, and Going Down Hard is prime example. So be prepared to swoon for Derek, and believe me when I say, he will leave you satisfied yet yearning for more.
And now I can hardly wait for the next story in this series with the man we all love to hate… Julian.
Going Down Hard is another amazing story in the Billionaire Baby Boy Series by Carly Phillips. The 3rd book is about Derek West and Cassie Storm. They are the same age, but from two different worlds (public school vs. private school).
Derek parents work for Cassie’s parents, and they live in the guest house on the Storm estate. Before heading off to college Derek helps his father with the landscaping of the Storm estate. One evening he sees Cassie at the pool so he walks over with a beer, they talk, and he asks Cassie if she wants a drink. They share the beer and a kiss before Cassie is called into the house. Before Cassie goes in they agree to meet the next night, same place and time.
Cassie is a spoiled rich girl. The next day while Derek is working Cassie is surrounded by her rich friends at the pool, and they catch Derek watching them. One of Cassie’s friends make a comment about Derek being “f___able, but not the guy you bring home to meet you parents”. Peer pressure makes Cassie agree with her friend, even if she really doesn’t believe what she’s saying. That night she goes to the pool hoping that Derek will still show up so she can apologize. Derek doesn’t show, but he does watch to see if Cassie does. A couple of days later they both leave for college.
Derek has turned his life around and is now a billionaire, and partner in a high-end tech company. Cassie works for her father at Storms Consolidated – the company that her grandfather founded. Derek and Cassie work in the same field and meet up again when Cassie makes an appointment with Derek to interview him about his success for her Take a Byte On-Line Tech Magazine. Derek agreed to the meeting out of curiosity.
This book will keep you on your toes as you learn what transpired in the years since Derek and Cassie went their separate ways, and what is happening in their lives now. One thing that didn’t change was their instant attraction and the sexual chemistry they still felt. There is sexual tension, anger, resentment, revenge, but most of all hope that true love will conquer above all else.
I absolutely loved this story, and all of Carly’s books. She is a one-click automatic buy for me!
I volunteered to review an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
