I almost didn’t believe it was him. In high school, Sebastian Pryce had been an aloof outsider who kept to himself. But now, ten years later, he’s back and unusually attractive. With muscle in all the right places and hands that know exactly what they’re doing, Sebastian is everything I didn’t know I needed. And while he isn’t exactly friendly, he has a magnetism that draws me in. He pulls away, … in.
He pulls away, afraid he’ll break me.
Until the night I demanded more—and he gave it. (Hard and deep. Twice.)
Were we just two lost, lonely people seeking solace?
Or could a disgraced reality TV star and a flawed, frustrating man actually find some sort of happy together?
** SOME SORT OF HAPPY is a full-length standalone romance. **
“I kept thinking about this story long after I finished reading. It’s sweet, sexy, and smart, which is what I’ve come to expect from Harlow’s books. I loved it.” — Claire Contreras, NYT Bestselling Author

This is an amazing romance that pulls at your heartstrings. Sebastian and Skylar’s story is pure of heart, proving that love is available to everyone as long as you’re not afraid and willing to take the risk because it is worth the reward. They are truly beautiful people that you genuinely like and want to encourage them to finding happiness.
I highly recommend this book.
Obsessive love
I really enjoyed reading this different and quirky romance story !
Skyler (27) returns to her home town after her attempt at breaking into acting is a flop and she no longer knows what to do with her life .
Sebastian (28ish) has also returned home from attempting life in the big smoke (New York ) ended up in him having a mental breakdown – he has tried to reestablish himself and get well but bumping into skyler – his old high school crush – randomly one day causes him to regress in his progress of healing .
But little does he know skyler is just what he needs!
Their chemistry is strong from the start and Sebastian s mental health add some quirky ness and angst . There’s some sizzling love scenes and some drama too and a wonderful world of characters that I’m looking forward to reading more about !
***4.5 Hearts
Some Sort of Happy is the first book in the Happy Crazy Love series. It is a complete standalone but it will make you want to read the other books about Skylar’s sisters. I actually did this backwards and read the others first. I have been wanting to read Sebastian and Skylar’s story so I am so happy that I finally did.
Skylar didn’t know where her life was going. She was back home after ten years and feeling like a failure. She was living with her parents. Single. And at twenty-seven she didn’t know what to do next. She was feeling insecure and needed time to herself to think. And that led her to the beach and falling on her face in the sand. Which caused her get the attention of one hot guy that would change everything…
Sebastian hasn’t seen her in ten years. And of course she didn’t remember who he was. He didn’t blame her. He wasn’t exactly popular in high school. But, she was always nice to him. Nice to everyone. And beautiful. He had a crush on her then and now it was more. She still made him nervous. And when she shows interest in him, he doesn’t understand why someone like her would want a man like him. Especially when knowing about his OCD and anxiety. He knew he should stay away. He tried to but she wouldn’t let him. She wanted to help him lighten up. To show him that he was worth it. But when he has his bad days and could be an asshole, will she still feel the same way?
Sebastian and Skylar’s relationship isn’t easy but it’s real. They both have their insecurities. Worries about the future. They also need to work on communication. The thing they don’t need to work on is their passion for each other in the bedroom. But, to have a future, you need more than that. Can Sebastian let Skylar in? Into his thoughts before it’s too late?
I thought it was awesome that Melanie wrote a character with a serious case of OCD and anxiety. It was more than just having a clean house or washed hands. Sebastian could be an asshole on the outside but he had his reasons on the inside. He hates it. Hurting someone he cares about. Mix signals. Two words that explain the man. It’s frustrating but thankfully you get his side too. Anyway, it’s not just about his issues but about Skylar’s next phrase in her life as well.
Overall…it was awesome! It was real. Beautiful. Frustrating. Sexy. Funny. And different.
Quotes:
“How are you?”
“Good. I’m just looking for a screw.” My eyes went panicky wide as I realized what I said. “For some screws, I mean. Not a screw.”
“I’ll never apologize. Never.”
“I’m particular, but I’m not totally insane.” He paused. “Usually.”
This book spent far too much time in my bookshelf. If I had known it was soooo freaking good, I would have read it immediately after I got it.
I loved every second of Skylar and Sebastian’s story. It was amazing and heartbreaking. So strong and powerful, but full of moments which took my breath away and others which made me smile.
The plot presents a delicate subject which I found refreshing and well-executed. It was really fascinating to discover that part of Sebastian’s life and how to deal with that. I have to be honest, Skylar sometimes drove me crazy, but she was absolutely the one for Sebastian.
The epilogue was great but after that final line, I needed more and more. Luckily, I found that extra scene on Melanie’s website and it was perfect!
I have read this story it seems a hundred times and every time it gets better. I actually downloaded the audio this time and hearing Sebastian and Skylar made the story that much more intense. Their love started out as friendship and grew into this fantasy sic love story that had a lot of ups but also an equal amount of downs just like any real relationship. I absolutely love this series and this author.
Absolutely refreshing and wonderful. I devoured this book. Loved this book. Highly recommend this book . Please do yourself a favor and read this beautiful and heart warming story
Closer to 4.5/5 for me. A different kind of guy. A patient girl. Just so sweet and wonderful.
Well edited. Read in the boxed set.
Skylar chased a dream until it blew up her life. Fame is not all it’s cracked up to be. Back home to sort out her life, she sees a handsome stranger. Except he’s not really a stranger. Sebastian and Skylar went to high school together. Then, thanks to misunderstood OCD and anxiety, Sebastian was largely ignored or insulted by his classmates. Now, he’s a lawyer, still battling – but coping with – OCD and anxiety. Unfortunately, he has a failed engagement that makes him believe he can’t have love. Until he meets Skylar again and begins to hope. Will Sebastian take a chance? Will Skylar have the patience to love him through his ups and downs?
I adored Sebastian. He so wanted love, but thought no one would be able to cope with his many quirks. Skylar found ways to help him and love him. A wonderful couple to read and cheer for. Enjoy!
I read ‘Some Sort of Crazy’ before getting around to reading this, and I was so happy to jump back into the story of the Nixon sisters! Sebastian and Skylar’s story is a powerful and emotional one, offset by just the right amount of that Melanie Harlow humor and heat we all know and love. It’s a unique novel that genuinely took some turns I wasn’t expecting, and I have so much respect for Melanie’s choosing to delve into the topic of mental health. I can’t wait to read the last book in the series and finally get to find out what Jillian’s story is!
This was my first time reading anything from Melanie, and OMG! I didn’t want the book to end!! I loved the story to Skylar and Sebastian so much!!! I just wanted it to keep going!!! I loved each character and what they brought to the storyline. I love that Melanie was able to bring to light a little bit more of OCD, and what goes through their minds when it’s happening, but in a rom/com way. Skylar and Sebastian know each other, and Seb NEVER forgot it. It took Skylar a bit longer to remember, but in the end they rediscovered each other. I love that you can get inside their minds and know what each other is thinking as it’s happening.
I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!!!

One of my all-time favorites. I think about this book all the time. This book had HEART and that’s special.
Delicately written! OCD is such a difficult disorder to convey and i think the author deserves credit for making this so plausible. Both characters are diverse. A love story you can believe in!
Loved this first book in the Happy Crazy Love novel! Skylar and Sebastian were two very different people, yet not so different, that come together at a time when they both unknowingly need each other. The story of their relationship is put together so well, it draws you in and has you rooting for their happy ending all the way through the book to The End. Melanie Harlow is a superb author, and I look forward to reading more from her.
In the interest of reading the third book in this series, I decided to start at the beginning. So Some Sort of Happy hit my radar and once I started my journey with Sebastian and Skylar, I didn’t want to stop. At all.
Sebastian has OCD and anxiety. It pretty much controls his life. Yes, he has management techniques and he has learned to live with it, but when times get tough or overwhelming Sebastian relapses. Due to these idiosyncrasies, Sebastian is very much a loner and a social outcast. Has been his entire life–or at least after his mother died.
Skylar, middle Nixon child, is a fallen star. Well, really she never took off, but her recent stint on a reality tv show left a bad taste in everyone’s mouths. And I mean EVERYONE. Now a social outcast, she wants to hide from everyone, but she also wants to find herself. She knows she isn’t cut out for the big time, but she wants to prove she can do something. Prove to everyone she isn’t the bad person that she portrayed on television.
A chance encounter at the beach sets this love story in motion.
Oh, I fell head over heels in love with Sebastian. He’s quirky, real, and he loves deeply. He also has a kinky side that is so…incredibly…hot. Skylar is the perfect person for our Sebastian. She knows when to push him and when to hold back. She knows how to love him for him. She doesn’t look at his OCD/anxiety as a bad thing. She doesn’t shut him out. If anything, he shuts her out when things become more than he can handle.
Naturally there are some hurdles, but nothing a true love cannot overcome. I loved reading the progression of this relationship. Sebastian and Skylar both grow during this book. And they grow into better versions of themselves.
My parting words?
Marry Me.
A Story of hope, love and faith.. two broken souls mending their heart to be together..
Skylar returns to her hometown, sad and broken after a reality show she just left.. she was affraid of what people would think after the show.. she wasn’t happy of some of the things she said and did on national television .. but not everything was her fault.. people didn’t understand her and didn’t even want to have anything to do with her.. only him has the answers, only him can fix her heart and soul..
Sebastian was a weird kid all his life. He has suffered from some psychological challenges that keep him isolated most of the time, having a hard time interacting with people and other stuff that would make him feel like an outsider.. he kept himself out of the crowd and certain environments.. now after many years of working hard to recover himself and try to live a normal life, he is finally seeing changes, changes that are being jeopardize by his own insecurities..
She didn’t recognized him at first, he was so diffrent from all those years ago. A lawyer, with a great body..
He was affraid she would remember his flaws and strange habits. his insecurities didn’t let him see far away from this “illness”
Life brought them together, and this time they will have to learn to conquer those demons and finally accept themselves..
The story between Skylar and Sebastian is beautiful two “broken” souls finally meet and help each other to survive in to this world.. with patient and time Skylar learns to deal with some of the issues Sebastian has.. not before suffering a few heartbreaks and bad situations because of the bad misunderstandings and miscommunication..
Another great part of the story is, how each character grows and learns their own challenges as they continue dealing with life and some of the ups and difficulties they both have.. not only Sebastian was hard to read… Skylar had her own insecurities and had a hard time verbalizing them to him.. Skylar became a solid rock for Sebastian and Sebastian became also a great support for Skylar..
Great story with a beautiful message..
I finished Some Sort of Happy about 20 minutes ago and here I still sit, sobbing like an idiot with snot running down my face…and I don’t even know why! OMG, this book! I’m completely in love with Sebastian. (This was my reaction immediately upon finishing the book. I had to soak it all in before writing my full review.)
I would give this book 8×2* if I could.
Gah, this book! This book is everything, everything ! I don’t think I have the words to do it justice. I didn’t believe there was a book Melanie could write that would top Frenched in my mind, but SSoH has completely thrown my world into a tailspin. This book is brilliant. It’s heartwrenching. It’s captivating. It’s perfection. It really is one of the best books I’ve ever read.
Skylar and Sebastian couldn’t be 2 more different people, but together they somehow worked. And they worked beautifully. They were the 2 halves to make a complete and wonderful whole.
Sebastian holds my heart. He’s one of the most compelling characters I have ever had the pleasure to read. His is a poignant story, one that will have you crying and laughing and swooning.
If I have said it enough, I love this book. I think it’s probably Melanie’s best work yet, and I adore all of her books. But there’s just something about this one that sets itself apart from the rest. This is one to be pulled out and read again, and I am not a rereader. And this is one book I definitely want on my shelf.
