Wealthy French aristocrats don’t date single moms… do they?
Is there such a thing as Prince Charming? Chastity didn’t take a teaching job in France to find hers, but a woman can dream, n’est-ce pas? If the widowed father of one of her students—the Viscount Charles Jean Anne Monorie de Brase—is the best local example of princes, Charming or Otherwise, Chastity is ready to put aside any thought of … ready to put aside any thought of falling in love again.
She’s had enough of his arrogance and would prefer him to keep his distance, yet it seems there is no avoiding each other. With the ongoing pressure of a repentant ex-boyfriend, a nefarious drug dealer, and an art heist that spans the decades, Chastity and the viscount are thrown together by circumstances she would soon rather forget.
As the bond between Charles and Chastity grows, they must decide if their love is enough to bridge the gap between their disparate worlds, and if happily ever after can exist outside of fairy tales.
A clean, modern romance set in France.
* Trigger warning: this book contains violence in the form of an off-screen murder that is more hinted at than described. There is also some description of teenage drug use. Neither the violence nor the drug use are glorified.

I’m a big fan. I didn’t quite know what to expect (I hadn’t looked at the cover nor read any blurbs or prologues), but I’m so happy for such a great read. As I explained to my friend when describing my current read: ‘I need a story that makes me use my brain, that makes me feel intelligent.’ This book had some phrases I hadn’t heard before, and for sure not in the run-of-the-mill quick romance reads. I loved the plot twists and the conflicts. They were realistic and I sympathized with the main characters as well as the villains at some points. That was pretty cool. In life, a villain isn’t always 100 evil. I hadn’t anticipated the resolution to the conflict, so that was a great perk to the story, and the last scene was scrumptious and made me smile really big. While I couldn’t pronounce the French terms and names, I felt more beautiful and ‘French’ just by slaughtering the names in my mind 🙂 in my attempts to read them. Even skimming French made me feel more intelligent. I guess if I feel intelligent while reading, it assuages some of the guilt I feel for neglecting my role of super mom.
I hope Goutet continues writing! I’m adding her to my favorites list for sure. Some perks of her book: -great dialogue that was realistic and gave a distinct voice to each character -intriguing major and minor characters that add to the story and each have a distinct voice -engaging conflict that leads to a climax and has satisfying resolution -nice pace and solid plot -I wanted the main characters to end up together -the scenery and writing style gave me images I hadn’t seen before. -There wasn’t anything offensive (sexual explicitness, language, viewpoints).
A Noble Affair is a supremely-sweet love story that delves into many of the deeper issues of the heart. It’s a story that deals with love after tragic loss, finding the strength to prove yourself when others doubt you, tough familiar situations, and even the plight of those trying to rehabilitate after prison is shined upon.
After a teenage pregnancy Chastity is rejected by her baby’s father. Instead of giving up, she becomes a teacher. When her son, Thomas, is about six or seven they moved to France for her to teach English in a French school.
Louis, one of her students appears to be doing drugs. When she contacts his father he seems on interested in the problem is, one of her students appears to be doing drugs. When she contacts his father he seems uninterested in the problem.
When tragedy strikes the layers are pealed back and each person’s true self becomes evident. A lovely HEA.
I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I had a free review copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. I enjoyed reading Jennie’s new book. The plot was interesting and the characters were great. I was a bit surprised by the twist at the end of the book, but it really made sense, I just had not put that character in the proper perspective. I would recommend reading this book.
In this suspenseful drama, Chastity has her hands full coping with a recalcitrant student and an even more difficult parent, one that has had his way for far too long. On the other hand, Viscount Charles de Brase is having a hard time keeping his juggling act going between his profession, the management of his estate, his difficult mother, non-responsive son and a demanding girlfriend. It’s no wonder that when Chastity challenges Charles, he reacts as he does. However, when Chastity’s son needs the best doctor available, Charles gives his unstinting commitment, thereby winning her heart. The brewing attraction between the hero and heroine is fraught with difficulties as they are caught in a web of deceit and manipulation, almost ruining any chance of a future between them. The suspenseful side of the drama builds up slowly in the background until everything culminates on one fateful evening when identities are revealed and Chastity’s hopes are dashed. The story is well-written and kept my interest throughout. However, I would have enjoyed this book more if there had been an epilogue, as it came to an abrupt, albeit successful, ending.
I enjoyed reading this book
Charles was a Viscount and his son was a student at the local school. He has pretty much raised his son in his own but lately something has been off with his son. Chastity was an American who was teaching English at the school, he French was fluent. She wanted her son Tommy to know a bit about his father’s country. Charles & Chastity first meet at a teacher meeting.
Sweet love story. Good read
I didn’t realize when I started this book that it was a modern/contemporary romance. I enjoyed it overall, but it wasn’t my favorite. There were a lot of loose end when the story finished. There was also supposed to be a mystery but it’s too obvious who the criminal is. I did enjoy that is was clean (but not Christian) which is my favorite.
The characters were okay. I liked Chastity more than Charles. I really felt like there needed more closure with his son. I also thought the proposal was a bit too soon and abrupt.
