Sci-Fi with lots of action
Good read
I was disappointed in this book, I generally enjoy this genre.
Almost gave this a 3 star rating, then realized it is a good young reader. Some words will be challenging, but young minds can learn. The story reads like the old serials that I used to catch at the weekend matinee. Come early to see the movie and catch the next episode of what ever was on that time. From one action packed episode to the next. Pretty much the same with this story.
Cole wants a job as a pilot and he gets a lucky break as the stand in for the just released AI piloted experimental star cruiser, ICV-71. What could go wrong?
No worries about gratuitous activities, and language isn’t abounding with colorful adjectives. Even blood shed isn’t described beyond letting the reader know it happens.
I will note that Mr. Verish needs someone to proof read his works.
wow! what an adventure a diverse group of characters ends up on. Who do you trust!?! The AI?
Loved this book. Will be looking into finishing the series some time.
Wonderful book, great story and I was hooked up to the end.
Space opera story lots of action. Antiheroes thrown together in challenging situations. Fun to read.
A new cargo space ship is launched with a highly sophisticated AI growing onboard that gets smarter with each passing day. Surely nothing could go wrong with its multi-faceted secret mission, right?
The characters all seem to have their own agendas,,, even the AI gets involved.
A hot page turner that will keep your fingers flipping the pages.
Cheers

Characters were interesting but sometimes confusing. I kept reading to see what would happen. It was difficult to visualize everything that was going on since you don’t have anything today that would resemble the ships, devices, etc.
I was put off by the main characters “wise guy” retorts. I know some will enjoy them and others may just not notice, but for me it got in the way of what I saw as a promising SciFi tale that was otherwise engaging.
This book is the first in a series that so far consists of only two books (Daedalus is the other). The wisecracking of one of the main characters might get to you (I think it’s a little overdone) but there are reasons for it that will be revealed. Overall this is action-packed character-driven hilarity with lots of serious danger and twists at every galactic intersection. I couldn’t put it or the second book down and eagerly await the next.
A good space opera, written to entertain.
Starts slow and goes nowhere. I finally had to set this one aside as it was boring me beyond endurance.
Made it about 1/3 through and just lost interest. Characters were flat, with no sense of connection to the reader.
Ok space opera
This is a great book, action packed, would recommend to any who loves Science fiction
Weak characters. Unrealistic plot. The are much better stories. The Expanse for example.
