On New Year’s Day, a dog finds a bone in the Hollywood Hills–and unearths a murder committed more than twenty years earlier. It’s a cold case, but for Detective Harry Bosch, it stirs up memories of his childhood as an orphan. He can’t let it go. As the investigation takes Bosch deeper into the past, a beautiful rookie cop brings him alive in the present. No official warning can break them … apart–or prepare Bosch for the explosions when the case takes a few hard turns. Suddenly all of L.A. is in an uproar, and Bosch, fighting to keep control, is driven to the brink of an unimaginable decision.

I love every Michael Connelly book. He has such well-drawn characters, and each story is different, not formulaic. Traveling around Los Angeles with Harry Bosch is one of the delights of my life.
My favorite author! Never disappoints!
Another in a long list of excellent ‘Harry Bosch’ novels. Enjoy.
This was my first Michael Connelly book. It didn’t follow my train of thought as it progressed…I was surprised to find it circled around — true to life. Sometimes our first expectations are met.
I love every Bosch book and this one certainly did not disappoint. It kept me reading until I was exhausted, but was well worth the time. I recommend this book to anyone. And keep reading Bosch – you will be glad that you did!
Another page-turner by Michael Connelly!
The Harry Bosch books never fail to please. This was just another one of those books that I hated to put down. If you like Michael Connelly, and you enjoy reading the Harry Bosch series, this is a good read!
A dog finds a human bone on an LA hillside. The cops trace back to remains of a child and backpack from years before. They want to pin it on an ex-sex offender living in the area who commits suicide when the media starts hounding him. But Harry suspects something else is afoot, and, of course, brilliantly solves the case.
