In a place where realms combine and portals open passages to the unknown, a prophecy speaks of fertility being restored to his people through the taking of King Kabril’s mate. The prophecy neglects to mention she lacks something vital to his kind—wings. Kabril, King of the Buteos Regalis has no interest in taking a human mate. His kind believes humans are dirty, vile creatures who rely on machines … on machines to lift them into the air. The last place he wants to go in search of his mate is Earth, but he’s left no choice.
Never did he expect to find love on a planet with one moon, people who lack wings and a stubborn vixen who makes his heart soar. When he does, he fears the truth about who and what he truly is will steal it away. Little does he know his enemies fully intend on doing the taking.

listened to the audiobook. luv’d it
This was a good shifter book love paranormal romance and this was another world element also. A stolen woman who is thought to be a queen and mate to the king and she is kidnaped by his enemies taken to his world before they were ready to tell her about it. and she must make a decision about how she feels about him faster. great book worth the read do not want to give any more away.
Love this! It has just enough danger to add suspense and intensity without it being grossly graphic. The King is alpha and arrogant enough without being too mean and pushy. His attraction to his mate is magnetic, explosive and his eagerness calms the authoritative him. What a humorous (laugh out loud) adventure which was an absolute joy to be entertained by. I anxiously anticipate reading/listening to what comes next. I listened to the audio version and the narrator did an excellent job.
I loved it
King Kabril’s use of the human language is very funny and makes him very likeable. Although, I felt that Reina gave in way too easy to Kabril’s deception. The reader gave a very good performance and kept you engaged in the story. Although, the fact that these shifters don’t know their mates, but the human mate seems to dream of hers. I liked the story, but some major elements of the Bird shifter world are left out.
King Kabril, King of the Buteos Regalis is a bird shifter, specifically a hawk. His kingdom has been suffering. There have been no new children born in years. The streets no longer carry the sounds of children’s laughter. Morale is low, people are unhappy. It is prophesied that King Kabril must go to the human realm of earth and he will find his mate there. After he is accepted by his mate, the rest of his kingdom will once again bear young. Humans are looked down upon by Kabril’s people. For one thing, they don’t have wings. Rayna Vogel is a photographer. She loves to photograph wildlife, specifically birds. She has lost her grandmother and has sold her home. She decided to be neighborly and take over a dish to welcome them. She can’t believe these two beautiful men she sold the house to. Especially the one named Kabril. There’s just something about him.
Loved the way the King was clueless! Great fun!
King Kabril must find a wife. The problem- there are no women he desires on his home world. A world of bird shifters. His advisor and best friend, Sachin suggest he look to the human realm. Humans who were dirty and relied on machines to fly!!!!!!
Kabril meets Rayna, an animal photographer and is instantly attracted to her. Kabril keeps his distance whilst trying to find his mate. Meanwhile, Sachin is coaching Kabril on the earthly courting rituals. Will Rayna accept the truth about Kabril or will his enemies find a way to steal her from him?
You will laugh out loud with the banter between Rayna and Kabril, which reminds me a bit of an old Katherine Hepburn/Spencer Tracy movie. Sachin is fabulously Machiavellian in his background manoeuvring of the lovebirds (pun intended!!!)
Great short read (I read it in about an hour undisturbed) and introduction to the series!
First bird shifter book I have ever read. It was good. I enjoyed it. It even made me chuckle out loud several times.
It was just ok.
Okay read – 3.5 stars. Interesting concept. Feels rushed, but the story does pull you in. I would have like to know more about the “courtship” since there were several timewarps or time-jumps.
Thankfully it is classified as a novella and was free. I did go ahead an procure the rest of the series – each of the remaining 5 were 99¢.
Skipped through the building of the world to fast for me to get invested.
Could have gotten more in-depth. Overall a decent read.
l found this book to be repulsive in it’s attitude toward women and did not complete it.
It depends on what you like to read. For me, this was annoying trash and I deleted it from my Kindle somewhere around page 5, when the alpha male who hasn’t had sex in so long began preparing to masturbate. Such a quick introduction of smut with barely a hint of plot is ridiculous. But, to each his/her own.
I thought this shifter book was very original! I loved the story and world the author created!
It was ok
It was ok
I did feel that the relationship between the H and h were very rushed. The author jumped weeks and months ahead. No real development in the relationship or story. Too rushed. I’m glad it was funny in parts, otherwise, there really wasn’t much point to the story. It was a short read. Space filler really.
I have just about decided to not try reading any more shifter books. Scenes of masturbation, rampant sexual inuendo and the resulting sex scenes seem to be what each story has as a plot. I didn’t make it past the first chapter.
