“THEY THINK KING IS EVIL, BUT HE’S GOT NOTHING ON ME.” -MackMY NAME IS MACK.And if I play my cards right, I will soon be dead. Permanently. Not even my powerful twin brother will be able to resurrect me. A good … my cards right, I will soon be dead. Permanently. Not even my powerful twin brother will be able to resurrect me. A good thing. Because a man like me has no business living. Not when I have killed. Not when I have betrayed everyone I have ever cared for. Not when I know I’m destined to do it again.
This is why I have come looking for her–the only one capable of ending me once and for all. But will she think I’m just another insane patient? Or will she believe the truth? I am thousands of years old, my heart too dark to be salvaged. And my name isn’t really Mack.
~~~
MY NAME IS TEDDI, short for Theodora. My entire life has been a canvas of grays, whites, and black. I can’t feel, I can’t understand joy, I’ve never truly lived. Until now. His name is Mack, and though he believes he’s cursed, my degree in psychology tells me otherwise. Besides, someone who’s capable of bringing so much light into my life can’t be anything but good.
But I can save him. If he’ll let me.
Switching between first person narrators was a little distracting. But, overall the book was good.
Awesome!!!!!
I loved this book It is part of the King series and Answers so questions about King and Mac. I hate spoilers so this is all I will say If you liked the King series Read this If you Like the Author Read this. If you like Hot sexy Men and strong women read this Oh just read the Book it’s good. You will Love it too.
I really got caught up in this book. I loved the characters. There was a lot of different things going on at once. I am not a fan of cliffhangers, but in this case I will have to make an exception!
Too chaotic. Good story line, but jumped all over the place. Hard to read.
I have had this on my kindle since it released and I forgot it was there. Boy I really shouldn’t have. The twists and turns, the suspense of waiting for it all to work out kept me turning the pages and hoping. At times it’s a bit surreal with spirits and aura colours, but strangely I found myself believing the words, it was written in such a say as to have me actually doing that. The mix of good and bad in both Mack and King from all the devastation from events in their lives had me not sure if I should like them or not. Turmoil is one word that comes to mind in describing this story, it fits and is full of it from start to finish. Did I enjoy it? Oh yes! Did I love it? You better believe I did..
So this is book four and the continuation of this enthralling series.
This time we are focused on Mack and we learn the truth behind his journey of pain and misery.
Just like King Mack is also cursed.
Cursed with a compulsion to kill the one he loves most and then suffer the horrendous guilt and regret that follows.
In book three we discovered just where Mack slots into the puzzle in regards to King and just how much he cares for him and also the whys behind this affection.
Here through a series of flashbacks, we get to experience the reasons for Macks brokenness.
We are also introduced to Theodora a girl living with a condition that prevents her emotions from functioning like others.
That is until her she looks into Macks striking Blue eyes and BAM!!! she suddenly feels.
But with these new emotions come a whole new set of problems and as this counted down to that shocking final end-game my heart was in my mouth.
I ran the gauntlet of every conceivable emotion here and got to say this really was a page-turner.
A couple of things here did stop this being a full sweep for me, well mainly the Talia thing and also King’s totally illogical behaviour and actions towards Theodora both past and present.
But despite them niggles the rest was as usual jaw-dropping and that finale pure magic.
I also prefered the fact that this was dual POV, unlike previous books where we mostly got single.
So four down one to go and as much as I am so looking forward to concluding this journey I will also be equally sad leaving all these complex characters behind at the finish.
Highly recommend this series it certainly is unpredictable and one that is really hard to put down.
