My plans for the future didn’t include falling for my professor. But how could I help being struck speechless by the sexy smile and warm intelligence of Professor Shane Brooks? What starts as wistful gazing from the back of the room leads to stolen touches that melt my core, and ends with a midnight encounter right on school grounds. Those weren’t the kind of after-school activities I had in mind.… of after-school activities I had in mind.
Will Shane hate himself for what we’ve done, or resent me for wanting it? I don’t know. I’m too lost in the heat of his body and the depths of his soul.
Sooner or later someone’s bound to find out about us, and it’s not going to be pretty.
The only question is, are we strong enough to survive it?
FORBIDDEN HEAT is a full-length standalone in the Firework Girls contemporary romance/new adult series. Jordyn White takes you on a journey of secret rendezvous, nerdy soulmates, and transcendent love in this forbidden romance.

The DEFINITIVE book on professor-student romances!
Yes, the professor/student setup is one of the most well-known of the taboo tropes, but never before have I read it done half as well as in this story. If you’re looking for the usual lusty-professor-pursues-nubile-young-girl, you won’t find that here.
Isabella is a senior, a mature young woman from a secure family who has a strong sense of self and knows what her future holds. Shane is only a few years older, a few more years advanced in his education, which puts him in the position of teaching the Philosophy class that Isabella needs for graduation.
Shane is far more reluctant to give in to their undeniable chemistry than Isabella is, not because he’s not willing to take the risk, but because he wants to be careful with her and her academic career. Isabella makes the point that if she’s the one asking for consent from him, how can there be a power imbalance?
Without denying the negative implications of the typical student/teacher relationship, this romance goes beyond the typical and shows what it would be like if two truly good people just happened to find their soulmates facing them in a classroom. Despite how right their romance is, however, the author doesn’t shy away from the legal, professional, ethical, and societal repercussions of their relationship.
Aside from these complications, Isabella and Shane are an absolute perfect match. They each are nerdy in the same adorable ways, but with different fields of study so there’s no competition, just respect and admiration. Their family backgrounds are similar, and they really understand and complement each other well. Their love story works as a beautiful romance regardless of the circumstances of their meeting.
Isabella’s friendship with her fellow Firework Girls – and Jack – grounds her and provides wonderful support for her while giving us peer-insight into the romance as well as establishing the characters who will be featured in the following books in this series.
The HEA was beautifully achieved without any leftover compromises, sacrifices, or hidden secrets. The villain was relegated to a peripheral, but not insignificant, role before being satisfyingly dealt with. It’s a terrific standalone romance, and a brilliant start to the series.
Well written with nice story line and plot. A bit predictable and has a lot in common with other student/prof stories. Characters well described and they develop nicely. Story flows nicely of the pages and has a mix of drama, secret, forbidden romance and passion that makes it worth the read.
The chemistry and chances these main characters has and takes are well described.
I am very much into stories in dual or multiple POV, because that gives the reader a lot more of the feelings and thoughts of the main characters. This is only told from the heroins POV and I really miss his side. That would have given more depth to the story.
Absolutely recommendable to others.
A fun well written wonderful story with well developed and realistic characters. It has danger, punishment, disgrace, friendship, and forbidden love. A start of a series of four friends and this is Isabella’s story. She finds forbidden love with her professor who is just a couple years older. I really enjoyed how they are there for each other. They have steamy chemistry and can’t keep there hands off each other. A must read and look forward to the other girls stories.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

THE HEART WANTS WHAT THE HEART WANTS!!!
This is one exceptionally sensual, heart stopping, page turning bombshell that hooks you from start and reels you in for the duration. I loved how well developed and realistic the characters were as well as their personalities that balance well together. It’s filled with all the suspense and drama to really make it pop. A very intriguing, smooth flowing, nailbiting, strong storyline that keeps you engaged as the tale unfolds. There’s a danger close to home nipping at their heels that totally threw a wrench into their lives that shook the foundation of their relationship. White pulls you into her imagination and weaves a world around us until everything else ceases to exist. Full bodied read that will stretch your limitations as well as your heart. You feel all of the characters emotions and feel apart of the plot instead of the sidelines. White did an amazing job bringing this read together flawlessly. Great job White, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.
