Excellent book. Action packed right from the start. Love the characters plus the alpha male in the story isn’t the typical portrayal of an alpha male. Looking forward to continuing this series.
As much as I wanted to enjoy this book, I cringed my way through many of the interactions between characters, especially Cassie and Jace.
While Jace is a “good guy,” I didn’t enjoy the progression of his relationship with Cassie, primarily because he never considered the possibility that she wouldn’t want to be with him — Cassie is never given an alternative, and she is shunned by Jace and the Guardians when she chooses one for herself near the end.
I also didn’t really understand what Sigma was or what its intentions were, and Johnston introduces it and Madame G, but does not develop it in any fulfilling way. I understand that this is the first book in a series, but I found myself only with questions whose answers I’m not all that interested in — I won’t be continuing with this series.
Fabulous series with a unique cast of characters a must read for anyone who loves paranormal/fantasy novels
A great first book to a series!!
This was my first time reading a book by Marie Johnston and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I LOVE reading paranormal romance books so, I loved Jace and Cassie’s story. The storyline was romantic, thrilling and exciting. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
A great book and a real page turner
If you like love action and werewolves then yes read this asap!
Great book part of an amazing series!!!!
An easy read with beautiful and charismatic characters. It was very easy to get lost in the plot and let the world go by for an afternoon!
This shifter story has a lot of twists and turns that start with Cassie and her fiancé breaking things off. Jace who is the bartender realizes that Cassie is his mate but keeps it under cover. He offers to take her home and get her mind off her ex which she agrees to. This leads to a bunch of drama when her best friend calls her for help and Jace comes along. This nonstop action packed story keeps you glued to the pages!
An amazingly captivating, lovely story! I read this book by accident and it has changed my perception of basic paranormal romances. I was hooked from start to finish, stayed up too late to finish it because I couldn’t just leave in the middle of like, any chapter! The characters were completely enjoyable and developed, their relationships were strong and connected. The plot was amazing, well developed, and intricately written with twists woven into the arc seamlessly and interestingly. I have never read this author before, but she is now on my favorite writer list. This book was enjoyable to read and consumed me to the end. I loved it!
Fated Mates
I enjoyed this story, although I was a tad upset with Jace for not asking before the bite… and feel like his mom and sister are pretty much s*** for their reaction to what got him sent to prison… but other than that, I enjoyed the pacing of the story, the side characters, and the change from the normal run-of-the-mill insta-love fated-mates shifter story. One of the reviews said the story felt rushed thus hard to follow. I have to disagree. It was fast paced, yes, but any avid half-intelligent reader should have been able to keep up. I thought this job well done.
Fast romantic read. Loved the story!
Good storyline but lacking some in cohesiveness, with plenty of intriguing characters, a truly evil villain, and sweet lovers. Supplies plenty of material for follow up, stand alone books.
Good premise. Cassie’s fiance called off the wedding 2 weeks before the big day. Jace has been watching and waiting for Cassie to become available.
Their relationship starts off hot and heavy. Cassie discovers that Jace is a wolf and takes time to process. Sigma, led by the mysterious Madame G is out to destroy the shifters. Cassie and Jace become targets.
I liked the relationship development between Cassie and Jace. The ending was a bit of a let down as the story just ended. I get that ita the first book in a series, however, Cassie and Jace’s story disnt fully resolve into a HEA.
That is definitely a kind of story I never read before. Now one really knows whats going on except that the Sigma are the bad one’s trying to destroy the shifters. A very good story though and absolutely worth your time.
