I enjoyed this book , highly recommend
Love this series of books and how they are all interconnected. If you have read the others Highlander books you will definitely love Murine’s story. Her character is the fainter and surprise heroine in To Marry a Scottish Laird and her story does not disappoint. There are twists and intrigue and of course a strong Highlander and sexy romance. I am eager for the next book.
I loved this book, and am slowly purchasing and reading the sequels. You canNOT go wrong with a strong, silent Scot with an independent-thinking Heroine. And if you would like a wondrous laugh, look for the wrestling/fight between most (if not all) the brothers at one point. I read it three times during my first reading just to laugh (until tears ran down my cheeks). Thank you so much!
HOT
So I won an advanced copy of this one, so that does mean I read it out of order. But I’m a huge Lynsay Sands fan, and if you like historical romance she is the writer for you! Murine has had a pretty horrible two years. After loosing both parents, two full brothers and two half brothers along with her rightful inheritance and home, you could say that she doesn’t have anything left to loose. You would be wrong because her remaining half brother Montrose decides to rent her out like a pimp in exchange for two horses (because he gambled his own away to the King of England). Luckily, he decides to trade her to a Scotsman who owes her a favor for saving his sister’s life who helps to keep her safe through a series of disasters. Dougall realizes that the only way to keep Murine safe is to marry her and figure out who is trying to kill her. If you like a lot of adventure to go with a cute romance, this is a great romp!
Ms. Sands doesn’t write a bad book. I always look forward to reading the next one from whichever series it is from.
Lynsay’s a great author and one of my favorites.
This is the fourth book in the Highland Brides series and each book can be read as a standalone title. In this book we get to see Lady Murine Carmichael and Dougall Buchanan journey. We have previously met both of these characters and I really enjoyed meeting them in the previous books so was really glad that they got their own story. This was just quite a story and I just didn’t know what was going to happen next. I have just absolutely loved this series it just keeps getting better and better and is full of wonderful characters that I hope get their own story. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
loved
I had forgotten about Murine’s tendency to faint, sometimes it was just hilarious. but then when it would have been a good thing, she didn’t. it shocked everyone.
As weak as she seems, she is so brave and strong.
Dougall, well he’s your typical Highlander hero!
Everything about this book is wonderful, and keeps you interested in reading.
*I received my copy from edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
Falling For The Highlander by Lynsay Sands (Audiobook)
Narrated by: Elle Newlands
Series: Highland Brides book 4
4 Stars – Lady Murine was a strong heroine, even when dealing with a weakness. Dougall was a great match, he cared for her, helped to cure her and stayed by her side. The two had good chemistry and I loved watching them fall in love.
Elle Newlands did a wonderful job as narration.
~Paragraphs and Petticoats~
This book had too much sex for my taste.
Lady Murine Carmichael has had a tough few years with the deaths of nearly her entire family. When her profligate half-brother decides to sell her to pay for horses, she’s had enough. Murine decides to flee to Scotland and seek refuge with her friends, encountering an unexpected escort not long after beginning her journey, the very Highlander who just refused to take her services as trade.
Dougall Buchanan is disgusted by Lord Danvries and leaves determined to do no business with him, but he does find Murine tempting. Dougall admires Murine’s kindness and bravery and wants to protect her from her brother permanently, if she’ll allow it. Soon it becomes apparent that Murine is being targeted by a dangerous enemy and Dougall must prove he’ll do anything to keep her safe.
This was classic Lynsay Sands craziness and solid Highlander romance. I loved this book when I first read it several years ago and it still held up well on my audio revisit. I appreciated that even though she was the damsel in distress, Murine wasn’t weak and even managed to save her man a time or two. Dougall’s developing protectiveness and devotion to her was incredibly endearing and the Buchanans are among my favorite fictional families. This was a solid, simple story with plenty of steam, a little suspense, and likable characters. I’m looking forward to continuing the series.
