Marina Adair is one of my fave contemporary authors and Chasing I Do is such a fun, emotional read I highly recommend it!
I can’t get enough of Marina Adair! Her books carry me away.
I’m a huge Marina Adair fan, and I recently read this first book in Marina Adair’s Easton’s series and loved it. The characters are sensational and the setting is SO utterly romantic. I can’t wait for the next one to come out.
Marina Adair had a good plot in her book Chasing I do. Darcy was a young pregnant girl who realized a marriage to Kyle would never work so she ran out on her wedding. She dedicated the next years to raising her daughter as a single mother while restoring Portland’s oldest wedding venue to its former glory. When things finally seem like they are going good Darcy’s past walks back in. Gage, Kyle’s brother, shows up with the intention of securing Darcy’s venue for a high profile wedding.
There were a lot of small conflicts like the discovery that she had a kid all this time and her crazy almost mother in law constantly trying to cause trouble. Yet there was no big conflict to overcome and this left me as a reader disappointed. I felt like it had all this potential and nothing was done with it.
As for Darcy & Gage, the idea that they have loved each other all this time and finally have a chance is brilliant. However, things between them just did not feel genuine. Situations between these two felt rushed and lacked passion in the few intimate moments they had together. I could tell there is a love there between the two but it had the potential for so much more. All in all I don’t regret reading Chasing I do, I did enjoy it I just didn’t fall in love with it.
Marina Adair has done it again and has given her readers another incredible romantic comedy! I absolutely LOVED Chasing I Do the first book in her The Eastons series. It was an incredible story and I loved reading every moment on every page and could not put it down. She provided her readers with the amazing characters, that I loved, who feel like close friends! Marina Adair continues to show with Chasing I Do that she is an incredible storyteller. One of my favorite things that I love about Chasing I Do is how Marina Adair incorporates the title of the book into the love story. Who doesn’t love hot sexy men, strong females, loving families and friends, who always support one another, they are all such wonderful characters? Her characters in Chasing I Do are so believable and charming, they share great chemistry, lots of laughs, and steamy romance. Chasing I Do delivers all those things that I love most about Marina Adair’s romantic comedies. I love that Marina Adair writes from the perspective of the two main characters. I enjoy getting to see things from the viewpoints of both of the main characters. Chasing I Do is filled with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. I love the lighter moments where I find myself smiling and laughing out loud. My favorite moments are the ones that pull at my heartstrings that cause me to sigh, as I read the heartbreaking moments. Chasing I Do is filled with all those things that I have come to love in a Marina Adair romantic comedy love story, especially the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. Chasing I Do is an enemies to lovers love story about Gage Easton, an agent for his brother, Rhett and Darcy Kincaid, owner of the newly renovated Belle Mont House and single mother to four-year-old, Kylie. Who does not love an enemies to lovers love story? Gage and Darcy originally meet in a Calculus class in college and became best friends. Since Gage was involved with someone else, Darcy began dating Gage’s twin brother, Kyle. Darcy is a runaway bride on the day she is supposed to marry Kyle. Later that evening, Kyle was involved in a car accident, while driving drunk and did not survive. Darcy has not seen or heard from any of the Eastons ever since that day. Belle Mont House has been selected as the sight of a celebrity wedding, that will be covered by a bridal magazine. Unbeknownst to Darcy, the celebrity wedding is for Rhett Easton and Stephanie Stone. Gage does not know that Darcy is the owner until he stops by Belle Mont House to discuss the contract. I love Darcy and Gage’s interactions when they meet for the first time, while Darcy is chasing after Rhett’s dog Fancy, that Gage was dog sitting. The following day, Gage stops by a house on the property, not knowing that it was Darcy’s home and discovers that he has a niece. I love the chemistry between Darcy and Gage, and Gage’s interactions with Kylie and Fancy. Darcy did not have the best upbringing and has worked hard to become the woman and mother that she is today. The moments that she details her interactions with Gage’s mother, Margo, are heartbreaking. As Gage and Darcy spend more time together planning Rhett and Stephanie’s wedding, and Gage getting to know Kylie, things begin to change between them. I love all the things that Gage does for Darcy, even though Darcy has issues with trust. I love that both Darcy and Gage shares secrets with one another, including the reason that Darcy she ran away from Kyle on their wedding day instead of marrying him. I love Gage and Darcy’s love story, and how Darcy shows her vulnerable side to Gage. Then an unexpected plot twist changes things between them and truly shows Darcy’s vulnerable side, and all that Gage is willing to do for Darcy to prove his love and that he will always put her and Kylie first. My favorite part of the story are the nicknames that Gage calls Darcy and Kylie. I love the amazing chemistry between Darcy and Gage, and that it was more than chemistry, it was love. I love the characters and the family dynamic in Chasing I Do, the characters feel like family and friends. I enjoyed all the interactions between the Easton brothers, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. I also loved the friendship between Darcy, and Jillian, it proved to Darcy that she could count on her. Who doesn’t love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? Chasing I Do is filled with all those things that I love in a romantic comedy, incredible characters, amazing story, light, poignant and bittersweet moments, and surprise plot twists. Marina Adair did not disappoint in her delivery of those things. I love how she resolved the surprise plot twist; it was truly a heartwarming moment. My favorite part of the book was the ending. I am so looking forward to reading the other books in the series, hoping that each Easton brother will get his own story. Chasing I Do was an amazing story and I highly recommend it.
I truly loved reading this book!
Chasing I Do, is a captivating,
& emotional story. Great characters
& romance, make it the perfect read.
Darcy, called off her wedding, after
being betrayed by her groom-to-be.
Darcy, knew she had to look out for herself,
& the baby she carried.
Darcy has worked hard to give her
& her daughter, Kylie, a good life,
creating the premier place to be
married at.
Gage, her ex-fiance’s brother is checking
out the grounds for his other brother’s wedding. Their first meeting does not go so well. There is a lot of resentment from Darcy taking off. But, the next time Gage visits,
he gets the surprise of a lifetime.
I enjoyed everything about the book!
Darcy, Gage & Kylie, steal your heart
from the very first pages to the last.
I can’t wait to read Book 2!!!
Proof that no one knows what goes on behind closed doors, not even a twin brother. My first book by this author and I have to say, I loved her sweet sexy style and realisitc characters. This was a friends to lovers romance with a twist, Darcy was a strong character who set ground rules and stood by them. Gage, for his part, was able to see both his family’s side of the situation as well as Darcy’s.
Marina writes what I call soft romance. This one was soft and tender with quite a few heartbreaking moments tossed in. But make no mistake, there are heated moments with just the right amount of sizzle.
Gage and Darcy make for a wonderful couple and when you toss Kylie in the mix there is the making of a really great family dynamic. If only his family, mostly his mother, would stop seeing her as a villian everything would be perfect.
I have to wonder why Gage took so long to make his feelings known. But then I guess there would not be much of a story would there? You have to go through trials and tribulations to get to the sweet part of life.
I am looking forward to following the rest of the family’s stories and to see how Gage and Darcy’s lives will finally intertwine with his brothers and his mother.
This is not my usual choice for contemporary but I won this book in a giveaway and thought I would give it a chance. Surprisingly I liked this book. It was a slow building romance that was perfect for the situation and characters.
This book is part of a series but was perfectly written as a stand-alone so I don’t feel I need to read the others to get more details about the family.
I loved this book! The characters are well developed and set a great foundation for the series to continue. I look forward to the next book in the series.
After having her heart broke into a million pieces by her fiance Darcy Kincaid couldn’t bring herself to walk down the aisle, and put her, and their unborn child’s, future in his hands. In the month’s previous to their wedding, he had been unfaithful and made it known he wasn’t ready for a child, and it was then she began to realize they just weren’t meant to be together. So, she made the painful decision to walk away from him and their wedding, and made a plan to create a future for her and their child without him and his family. After having a lackluster childhood of her own, she knew there was no way she could put her child in the same situation, and knew leaving was the only way to ensure that. She has since found a way to provide a good life for them by restoring and re-opening Belle Mont Manor, Portland’s once most glorious wedding venue, and her plan to put it back on the wedding venue map is starting to grow momentum and she has caught the eye of one of Wedding Magazine. They want to offer her the June cover in exchange for planning a luxurious wedding for one of Hollywood’s most notable couple’s, and she is thrilled beyond belief and ready to sign on the dotted line… until she learns that it will put her right in the path of her past!
Gage Easton met the girl of his dreams in college, but she didn’t seem to feel the same, so he decided to move one and date someone else and she ended up dating his twin brother. While it pained him to lose her to his brother, he was just happy to see her finally happy with someone who treated her right, and before long she had found her way into their family, and in their hearts. Then she surprised them all by walking away, and it caused his family more grief and pain then they ever thought possible. Her leaving devastated him the most, because he lost his best friend and the one person he could always turn to, and it was hard for him to know he’d never have that again… that is until she unexpectedly comes back into his life. Now he must find a way to get back what they had before and prove to her that he deserves a second chance…
The minute I started this beautiful story I felt an addiction start to settle in and it was pretty evident that I wasn’t going to be able to walk away until I had devoured every last page… which quickly turned into a late night literary escape that left me in a complete state of bliss! From the moment I met Gage I knew it would only be a matter of time before he completely stole my heart, and true to my initial thoughts after a chapter or two he got me… hook, line and sinker!! The man radiated sex appeal, and that coupled with his good heart, protective & caring nature, and sultry one liners made him completely undeniable and oh SO desirable!!! The way he stepped in and showed Darcy that he wanted to be a permanent fixture in her and her daughter lives was not only admirable, but also something very beautiful to witness. This is BY FAR one of my favorite reads from Ms. Adair, not only did it have all the makings of a perfect romance story, but it was also the perfect start to a new series… that I can’t wait to get my hands on and explore!! HIGHLY recommend you meet the Easton’s they will pull you into their world, steal your heart, and have you never wanting to leave!!
