Pretending. I’ve always been good at pretending. Being someone else is easy, and that ability has served me well these last seven months. This time, I’ve been hired to be the long lost sister of oil tycoon, and down to earth cowboy, Maxwell Cunningham. Recently, Maxwell’s father passed away and in his last Will and Testament he dropped a bomb no one saw coming. One of the richest men in the … world, left forty-nine percent of his company to a sister my client never knew he had. A woman named Mia Saunders.
Maxwell has a year to find this sister or he loses almost half of his empire to a greedy board of investors. Somehow, he found me and here I am. Sharing in family dinners, pretending to be someone I’m not and fooling bigwigs left and right. Only I’m finding myself falling in love with a family I can never have. One that will hurt to leave.
Stetsons, soul-searching, and sisterly duty all come into a sharp tangle with twists and turns I never saw coming.

Audrey Carlan is amazing. If i could give more than 5 * i would.
August rates right up there in my top three months as it takes Mia to Texas and pretending to be Maxwell Cunningham’s long lost sister – the one who is supposed to inherit forty-nine percent of a company he’s been running with his father until the man’s untimely death. But there are those in his family who aren’t happy about this intruder and usurper of power. And along the way, secrets are revealed and lives are changed, not only Mia’s but her sister’s. This is also where the story takes the largest turn and brings Wes back into the picture. I liked learning more about Mia’s mother and where she came from, what her life was like before her mother left them. And this month had me looking forward to the next story.
This series is a beautiful piece of art. I feel that way about a book when the author can paint beautiful, vivid and powerful images in my head. I also consider this, a piece of art because this author wrote this series and it is unlike any other series I have ever read. It kept my attention and I did not set the books down until I finished them, and that is not is not an easy task with me because of my work and I have 3 beautiful younger children. This series made me step back and ask myself if I should step out of my comfort zone more. Thank you for this beaitiful series.
This book was quite riveting. Much more plot and story than some of the others. There’s big shockers in it for Mia and her family. Not too much Wes, which was a bummer, but she’s still thinking of him all the time and wanting to make it work with him, which is promising.
Can’t say too much more without spoiling stuff, but if you’ve enjoyed her journey this far, you’ll enjoy this book too. So much more substance!
