This story is about a Lady Pinkerton. She is a master of disguise and willing to do anything to get her man. Unfortunately, the man that truly makes her heart beat is in the middle of her investigation. The chemistry between these two is really intense, but hurt feelings and one senator are between these two. This story takes a surprising twist, and the climax is intense and suspenseful. What happens after the dust settles is a surprising ending.
This book is set in Texas in 1883. Sadie Michelson is a Pinkerton agent investigating Baron Westerfield a Texas Senator. William Cassidy whom goes by Cass works for Baron as a bodyguard. Cass believes wholeheartedly that his boss Baron is innocent and is not involved in anything Illegal. Baron is helping Cass become a Texas Ranger and getting him out of previous trouble that makes that dream unreachable. Sadie and Cass were childhood sweethearts so to speak. The entire story they are at odds against each other because they both believe they are on the right side. In the end the evil is brought forward and the mystery is solved.
It took me a whole month to finally pick this book back up and read it from page 30 to finish it. I am not sure why this book did not interest me that much until the end. I have read other books by this author and they interested me more and I do not know why. I will read other books by this author. I do suggest that people read the book and make their own conclusions on the book.

Devil in Texas
Lady Law and the Gunslinger book 1
by Adrienne deWolfe
WOW! What an enjoyable story, loved Sadie her disguise as a woman of the night in a saloon was awesome, no wallflower here! Tuff and sassy she really is an awesome Pinkerton agent, Cass is sooooo sexy and alpha, they have chemistry overload, loved their love hate relationship. This was a page turner, full of action and intrigue and plenty of sizzle, I highly recommend . I received a copy of this book from Ebook Discovery in exchange for my honest review.
Devil in Texas is a fast-paced detective story, with the right balance of sexual tension between the hero and heroine, and the drama in the case they are investigating from different angles. As a non-American I did find the language and slang difficult to follow and that sometimes hindered me from enjoying the story fully. I also found that in light of the fact that this book is part of a series, and I hadn’t read the previous novel, I did battle in parts to follow the plot. Although this story is wrapped up, it does also open the way to the next episode of this series. There is humour, adventure, a sweet little princess, a twist in the tail ending, and a lovable raccoon that saved the day. What more could one ask for in a fun read? Would have preferred to first read the novella and book where the two main characters were initially introduced only to make the past clearer, but a sufficient job was done telling some of the history. Enjoyed the love/hate relationship portrayed. Story was full of action and intrigue. A few surprises thrown in for good measure. I received this book from eBook Discovery.
