She drives him crazy. So why can’t he leave her alone? Emma Dixon is known for getting in over her head—and having a great time doing it. She’s aware her shenanigans rub her brother’s sexy friend,Nate, the wrong way, but getting a rise out of the arrogant surgeon is one of her favorite pastimes, for some reason. Women are carefully compartmentalized in Dr. Nate Sullivna’s life—to his bedroom. … Nate Sullivna’s life—to his bedroom. Women who don’t mind his take-charge tendencies. Women very different from his best friend’s sassy, sexy, independent sister.
But keeping Emma at arm’s length becomes impossible when his son falls in love with her friend’s daughter. As Nate tries to derail the relationship, Emma runs interference for the young couple, putting herself directly in the path of the chemistry that grows stronger every time she and Nate butt heads.
Pretty soon, neither of them is able to ignore what’s happening between them. But when unintended, and very complicated, consequences come with the inevitable combustion, will they be able to find a common ground…that actually includes getting along outside of the bedroom too?

Holy Nate!! I loved this book, the build up & all the characters!!!
These two left me smiling. They are so fun to watch. The relationship between the two builds out of intense attraction and spending time together. The ending was great.
Emma is a great person. I am so glad I got to know her in this book. Her story didn’t disappoint. You could see in the other books that there was a little more to her then just a good party but, could understand why she let people think she was the life of every party.
I felt sad for her and Deana. It looks like Emma is more of a Mom to her best friend then a friend any more. I really wanted to shake Deana for the way she was acting. I am glad that Emma made her step up with Shannon in the end. I hope it helps them get to a more responsible relationship.
From book one I knew her and Nate would match well. I mean all that tension you could read they was attracted to each other. I am glad Emma felt she could open up with him and show him she was more then a fun time. Well, I am not going to get into the sexy time. Boy could that fog a some glasses up. Nate has to grow up a level also with raising a teenager in love. I am glad Emma was there to help with that.
I think this was a great book. I love the whole Dixon family. Each story has it’s own spin to it. It is also nice to see everyone in each book. I could not put them down. I even waited till the end of all 5 books before writing a review. I didn’t want to pause to do them. I hope others enjoy these books as much as I did.
Gah. This was amazing.
Best of Three is the third in the Just Everyday Heroes: Night Shift series (formerly known as the Counting on Love series) by Erin Nicholas. It tells the story of Emma Dixon (one of the four Dixon sisters, who’ve grown up under the watchful eye of their older brother, Conner). She’s worked her whole life to distinguish herself from her sisters by making sure she’s fun, eye-catching, and great to be around. Everyone loves her and wants to be with her. Except Nate Sullivan.
Nate’s got a pretty busy life–he’s a trauma surgeon and a single dad to an 18-year-old who’s head over heels for his first serious girlfriend and starting to pull away, big time. He can’t help but have his head turned by Emma, but he knows he’s much safer enjoying her from a distance.
When he needs Emma’s help with Michael (his son), the two of him are struck by the crazy chemistry between them, and it gets harder and harder to remember why staying away from each other was such a good idea.
Erin Nicholas’s characters make me smile, make me laugh, occasionally make me grit my teeth in frustration, make me sigh with swoony pleasure, and fill me with happiness. Best of Three’s cast is no exception, and I enjoyed every page. Emma and Nate’s path to their own HEA is littered with some detours, but every step of that journey is part of this read for the keeper shelf!
Can’t wait for the next in the series!
Emma is the good-time party girl as well as the biggest handful of Connor Dixson’s sisters, and Emma has invested a lot of time and energy to try to stand out from her intelligent, beautiful, poised sisters. Sassy, stubborn, bossy, outspoken and brazen, that’s Emma. If it causes a spectacle or causes embarrassment, Emma’s probably involved. If there’s fun to be had, Emma is at the center of it. As a result, Emma has her pick of guys, and with a look or a smile they’re doing her bidding. All except Nate. And Nate’s dispassion and lack of interest make Emma want him even more.
Oh my stars, Emma and Nate were a lot of work! There’s push and pull, but their relationship had more yank and fling than a slingshot. I actually thought about taking a break from the book because they were exhausting and made for some pretty crazy dreams when I went to sleep after reading their story. That’s not to say their story wasn’t great fun. I knew it would take an extraordinary man to deal with Emma, and Nate was perfect for her. It was awesome to see that someone who came across as shallow as Emma had a compassionate, deeper side, and she and Nate were able to learn a lot from each other. At this point, I’m 100% invested in this series and can’t wait to see what happens with these entertaining, endearing characters.
4.5 stars, loving this series!!
Best of Three is about Nate Sullivan, surgeon and Emma Dixon another Dixon Diva sister.
Emma had been attracted to Nate, one of her brother’s best friends for some time and now that he is her doctor after her car accident and he repaired the damage the attraction is growing stronger for Emma but she’s not sure about Nate’s feelings for her. Nate is to busy being a surgeon and raising his son to have any type of relationship except maybe a fling now and then with any woman. When his son becomes involved with a girl that Emma has helped raise with her single best friend he starts losing control of his son and all kinds do things start happening…between Nate and Emma along with his son, Michael and Shannon. Then the unthinkable happens not to Michael and Shannon but to Nate and Emma…so now it’s time to find out … will they end up together or will it always be a question…does he or doesn’t he??
4.5 stars – In many ways this was a story of opposites attracting. Emma was boisterous, frequently the center of attention, and always seemed to jump into things without thinking through the consequences. Nate, on the other hand, was rigid, overprotective, and had been dealing with consequences in the form of his son since he was sixteen. I really enjoyed how spending time together helped each of them better understand the others’ point-of-view and the way that new understanding caused a change in the way they each dealt with situations as the book progressed. I also really enjoyed the new insight this book provided for Emma’s brother Conner, which makes me more excited to finally get to his book.
I loved reading Best of Three by Erin Nicholas, book three in her Just Everyday Heroes: Night Shift series, formerly the Counting on Love series. This is Emma and Nick’s story. Emma Dixon is the feisty, center of attention, and fun loving of all the Dixon sisters. Everyone loves her and wants to be with her. Except Nate Sullivan, the doctor who surgically repaired Emma’s broken bones after her car accident. Whenever these two are together, they get on each other’s nerves and snipe at each other. Nate has a busy life; he’s a trauma surgeon and a single dad to an 18-year-old. Nate’s son is head over heels for his first serious girlfriend and starting to pull away, big time. Nate can’t help but have his head turned by Emma, but he knows he’s much safer enjoying her from a distance. When Nate needs Emma’s help with his son, the two of them are struck by the crazy chemistry between them, and it gets harder and harder to remember why staying away from each other was such a good idea.
I loved the push and pull between Emma and Nate. The heat between these two could burn buildings down! I love how willing Emma was to change and be different when she was around Nate. It was funny how Nate always thought he was in control and not getting involved to deep with Emma
Ms. Nicholas creates characters which make me smile, laugh, get frustrated with, sigh with pleasure, and fill me with happiness. This wonderful story drew me in making me forget the world around me. I had trouble putting this book down, turning page after page, not letting go until I turned the last page, still wanting more and really looking forward to the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book to other readers.
This story is so much fun it had me laughing out loud and crying in turns, loved everything about it! Emotionally engaging, sweetly sexy and action packed romantic adventure that comes out of nowhere and grabs your attention without ever letting go.
I have loved watching Nate and Emma pick at each other over the series and was so happy to read their story and finally get to know them better… Learning why Emma is who she is and Nate’s personal history I was highly entertained and completely invested in them finding their happiness. Loved this romantic journey.
I’ve been looking forward to Emma’s book! Self proclaimed wild child of the Dixon Divas, Emma loves to party! Her unexplained attraction to pompous, bossy doctor, Nate makes her crazy. Actually he makes her crazy as he is the one man unaffected by her charms, or so she thinks.
I loved Emma in the other books in this series and I loved her even more here. She and Nate have wonderful funny banter and especially sexy times together. But what I loved the most were their serious moments. And the ending was fantastic! Looking forward to Olivia’s story next!!
This was such a good book! The story line was unique, the sex was hot and the characters butt heads time and time again. Nate and Emma are a lot of things to each other–doctor/patient, guy’s little sister/guy’s friend, she’s always trying to get a sexual reaction out of him/he’s determined to not give her that reaction, father to a son/pseudo-mother to that son’s girlfriend. It’s a lot to take in, but boy does it make for a great story!
Nate appears to be a really uptight, straight laced kind of guy at first, trying to track down his son ALL the time to keep an eye on him. Emma has a reputation for being a shock and awe type of woman. Her purpose in life right now is keeping Nate from ruining the relationship between his son and her best friend’s daughter. If she can get a little action from Nate on the side…it’s an added bonus!
Oh boy! What a scorching hot and fun love story. Nate and Emma had so much sexual tension that they were denying for so long that when they finally got together they were absolutely combustible, in a very good way. Their banter was so much fun to read. Loved Emma’s sassy attitude and Nate’s domineering tendencies. He knew he couldn’t tame her and he didn’t even want to. And the ending…such a big sigh worthy moment. Loved every moment of this book. I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to read this series but with the new revamped covers, it’s a great excuse to start this series before she releases any new books that will prevent me from catching up.
Hilariously funny!!! I couldn’t help but laugh at Emma’s antics to get Nate to sleep with her. He seemed very strong willed and wasn’t going to budge one bit. Emma tried everything in her power to prove that he needed to like her. Funny, light hearted book! I loved every minute of it and was so sad for it to end. Looking forward to hearing more of these characters story!!!
