Heartfelt and delightful!
I have been reluctant to read the Harmony Harbor series because I loved the Christmas Colorado series so much. Debbie Mason has not disappointed in the least.
Sophie is returning home to Harmony Harbor after living in California for 8 years. And she is returning home with a big secret. She thinks she has kept the secret of who her daughter’s, Mia, father is to herself but she soon learns that isn’t true. At lease her grandmother, Rosa, has it figured out. She still fears that if Micheal Gallagher and his mother find out she will lose Mia, especially after what happened in California.
Liam Gallagher is back in Harmony Harbor trying to recover from the warehouse fire in which his FD in Boston had responded left him with mental and physical scars. Seeing Sophie DiRossi back did funny things to him though but he wasn’t sure what. After losing both his mom and sister in a car accident he had sworn off anything serious but he had been in love with Sophie when she was teen but he was 23 and respectfully waiting until she was a legal adult. However, his cousin Micheal got to her first.
Colleen, the 104 year old Gallagher matriarch, is the keeper of secrets but she dies before being able to right some wrongs. There is a plan though, her video taped message will tell the Widow’s club where the book is and they will carry on the secrets. However, the tape malfunctions and no one can find the book. Colleen is trapped between living and going on Heaven. Needless to say, she has her “hands” in a lot.
Sophie is hired at manager of Greystone but it needs work. Only one of the Greystone grandchildren is holding out on selling and that is Michael. Paige and Helen are working over time trying to sabotage the manor being successful in anyway possible. However, the people of Harmony Harbor want it to come to life again.
Debbie Mason does a great job building all of the characters in the book. Everyone has a secret to be told and there is a shocking twist or two as well as some laugh out loud moments.
A romance with many twists. I was drawn in from the first and had problems putting it down.
Made for a great, light read. Loved this whole series!
Love it! Every book I’ve read from Debbie Mason has been wonderful and makes me want more.
Such a heartwarming story. You’ll love relaxing with this book and you won’t want to stop until you’ve finished.
Fast reading, sweet story
I like this book.
I really enjoyed this book. It was full of romance, humor and mystery. There were multiple mysteries so some are answered in other books. I look forward to exploring the other characters in other books.
A fun read
Love all of her books.
Book 1 in series…delightful Ghost enters to bridge the following books. Love “familia” raging against love, tradition and times across 3 and historical 4 generations. I lived in MA, CT and NY. Many friends and adventures up to Maine and south to RI, NJ, Maryland/D.C, VA, NC, SC. Mason “nails” the characters by heritage to a tee! Yup met, interfaced with real people just like these characters and their families! And yes loved them all! History…familia….traditions…Food…Respect….Dedication…Unconditional Love….goes deep as an ocean and as wide as the “Heart” can expand.
I loved this book and it’s characters. I loved it so much that I purchased the sequel immediately after I finished this book.
Throughly enjoyed this easy read.
Favorite Quotes:
Colleen thought it was rather ironic that she’d died on All Saints’ Day. She was hardly a saint. She had her secrets too. But if she wanted to be ready the next time heaven rolled out the welcome mat, she had work to do.
Her fifty-four-year-old mother had left her father and turned into an incense burning, om chanting, tantra-practicing nymphomaniac…
My Review:
Every woman in town was desperate to find the lost manuscript that a recently deceased one-hundred-and-four-year-old town matriarch had written, her last video informed her Widows’ Club that she had written a tell-all memoir detailing the various secrets of the town’s populace, hers included. The manuscript was supposedly lost, or was it? What the town was not aware of, the meddlesome spirit was still watching over her estate, as she seemed to have missed her entry to the hereafter when the bright light came.
Mistletoe Cottage was an entertaining and active story with wry humor and several subplots of sabotage, long-standing feuds, greed, family secrets, compounded lies, PTSD, jealousy, shady histories, wedding planning with a horrid bridezilla, a meddlesome spirit, and a selectively mute child who sees dead people. Prepare for lots of drama, a bit of intrigue, a bit of romance, and surprising twists and turns. I am already eager to uncover more of their secrets in the next book.
