A headstrong runaway: When practical spinster Hannah Gray rescues her nephew Pip from his cruel father, she has no choice but to flee Ireland. Once in England, fate hurls her onto the doorstep of notorious eccentric Austen Dante. Aware that the isolated manor is the perfect place to hide Pip, Hannah takes a desperate gamble, pretending that she can transcribe Dante’s musical compositions—even … compositions—even though she can’t understand a single note.
A man of secrets:
Mercurial inventor and composer Austen Dante knows why he is called the “mad master of Ravenscar”. Countless assistants have fled, unable to keep up with his frenetic work pace. Yet Dante will trust no one with the reason for his race against time—or the secret that has shaped his solitary life. When he plucks a ‘half-drowned Irish cat’ from a storm he never suspects that she will match his fire, but Hannah Gray is living a lie.
Can a love begun in deception survive when the truth is revealed in the harsh morning’s light?

I couldn’t put this book down! I mostly read historical romance, and this book tops my list. I only recently discovered Kimberly Cates, and I’m so glad I did!
I have read a number of Kimberly books and they never disappoint. Only thing I will tell you once you start one you may be up all-night reading because you just can’t put them down, so be forewarned.
This great story of two very different but much alike people.
Austen Dante is wealthy, handsome, Intelligent and an inventor. He should be happy and on top of the world unfortunately he is just the opposite. He is Grumpy, angry and restless. He can’t sleep and yells at all most of the time. His servants mostly just try to stay out of his way. Till the night a woman shows up at his door, wet, cold, half-starved and ready to stand up to him and fight for her and the little boy, Pip with her. Somehow, she is let in getting past him. She is outspoken, speaking her mind and stubborn as a mule. Hannah Gray is lovely inside and out. She has always been the fixer for her family, putting their needs ahead of herself, mostly unappreciated. She promised her beautiful sister, she would keep her son Pip safe. Only problem is his father is a wealthy, member of the ton. He is also a Sadistic evil man, who tricks everyone with his good looks and can turn the charm on at well.
Hannah lies to Austen in order to get a safe dry place for Pip, she is hiding many things.
Austen is also hiding a lot, and between them they must learn to trust each other or all will be lost.
There is betrayal and surprises for both on their journey.
This very intriguing, suspenseful, romantic story between two people who have lost so much for others. The characters in the story make it all the more real, alone with a very special pup called Lizzy.
I hope you get a copy and enjoy. All the stories in this series can be read as stand alone.
I enjoyed the way the book flows from beginning to the end. It was done very well. Good read.
Good story but tooooo much sex.
Interesting plot line
Loved the characters and I stayed up until the wee hours to finish the book. Good thing I’m retired.
All Wonderful characters with depth and true emotion . the writer has the abilty (like one of my favorite writers Julia Quinn) to pull you into the story and you are there, feeling their pain, estatic in their victory, laughing , falling in love, fighting, grieving and being so totally satisfied by their “Happily ever after”
Very good story. I enjoyed the characters and there were no glaring inconsistencies to detract from the story. Could have done without the sex scene and had to skip over those pages.
I liked the strong female character and the family dynamics.
I enjoyed reading the book Morning Song. Kimberly Cates did a great job of developing her characters. I would like to find out what happens next with them. I found the plot line to be interesting as well. To be honest there were some pages of the book that I skimmed over, like when the main characters were deep into their own angst, and the one sex scene, but overall the story was interesting and enjoyable. I recommend this book, and will read more from this author.

Will love begun in deception will survive when the truth is learned? – Austen and Hannah are different than they acted when they met. It is interesting to see their friendship and trust develop and grow. Pip is precious and a good part of the story. I enjoyed this historical romance.
Didn’t bother to finish this book.
Loved it!
Kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. I couldn’t put it down!
