I offered to review this audiobook because I am such an an avid reader but also almost exclusively audio due to my schedule. Because of this, and the fact that a bad narrator can destroy a great series, I can be very critical of narrators. Especially when books have a single narrator required to speak with different voices for multiple characters. Most cannot do it without having some errors where they use the wrong ‘voice’ for the wrong character. Priscilla Finch does a great job in narrating all voices this book. It was a very enjoyable listen and I didn’t have any issues distinguishing between characters.
As to the story, I am not one to give a lot of specific story details since I feel you should read the story for that. However, I will say that it is book 1 in a new twist on the were/shapeshifter series where some of the characters have additional magic. As with most such books, there is an underlying good versus evil, along with great character development and a story line that included several twists I didn’t see coming. You won’t be disappointed if you give it a try!

A wonderful tale of magic and marvelous creatures. This is an enthralling young adult fantasy that features characters you can connect with, and a great story line. I received a free copy of the audio version of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I had a hard time getting into the story of this book. The narrator did a good job. The story is good and the characters are well written. (I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.)
This book was entertaining but a bit tame for my liking. Since this covers stories about kids in school, this is more geared towards preteens. Having said that, I did enjoy the story and the characters. The narrator was also very good and could easily tell who was speaking. I received a free copy of this book on Audible from Story Origins for my voluntary honest review.
I often overlooked this book in the past because of the cover, it never grabbed me, yes I know don’t judge the book by its cover but I got a chance to review it on Audible.
I was quite surprised when I first started listening to it, I had no idea what to expect. It didn’t start out as any fantasy paranormal book I had read in the past and I couldn’t imagine how the author was going to tie in a German Jewish woman escaping from the Nazis to a paranormal story. I thought the author made the transition quite well. Of course, how else but with a nicely woven shapeshifter story. I enjoyed the character development and the world building. I like the interaction with the characters, and there’s a nice amount of suspense and Good and Evil, the evil characters are well developed, just nasty enough to enjoy. I would have liked to have seen the heroine’s psychic power development a bit more. I feel the author could have spent a little bit more time there. I really enjoyed the choice of Audible reader Priscilla Finch. I thought she did a great job and her voice is well-suited to the story. It made for very pleasant listening. Now I plan on listening to Debbie Manber Kupher’s second-story Argentum.
