4.5 Stars
This is the second book in the Hidden Truths series by Brittney Sahin.
There is just something about a sexy Irishman who doesn’t immediately fall at the feet of a girl who is the twin of a supermodel. This book had me captivated by the get go.
Ava Daniels is about as far removed as career goes from her sister the supermodel. She is a microbiologist who works for the government in a secret off the books facility where they are trying to complete an investigation into a dangerous chemical substance. When Ava gets to work one morning she discovered the entire lab has been wiped clean. There is nothing there at all. Every room is empty.
Ava tries to figure out what to do and finds a link to her boss’s family and goes to Boston to see if his nephew can help her locate her missing co-workers. Aiden O’Conner is not the type to trust easily due to his time in the military. He is immediately skeptical of Ava and blows her off. But she is not one to give up and keeps at him. Then Aiden spies a tail watching her and he is someone Aiden recognizes. He then relents and helps her.
This situation is so much bigger than any of them realize and now they are on the run for not only their lives but the lives of the American public.
I could not put this book down. From all the scenes with Aiden and the dire circumstances they found themselves in, I thought it was all great. My favorite book in the series so far. Nice to see people from book one popping up and helping in their time of need. I appreciate when an author makes sure and introduces us to the main characters of their next book so we are primed and ready to read the next fantastic offering in the series. Can’t wait to read book three!
Highly recommended.
Ava doesn’t know what to think, but she has to find Henry, her boss, who’s gone missing along with the entire lab she used to work in. The highly secretive project leaves her with no one to talk to and when she’s turned away from her own agency, she does something she’d never expected, take matters into her own hands. Hunting down Henry’s family is one thing, finding his handsome nephew and getting him wrapped up in things is another. But Aiden has secrets of his own and protecting Ava comes before his deep seeded family hatred. She may hold all the answers to his past and be able to help him get a second chance.
My new found love of romance mixed with suspense can be perfectly explained by Innocence & Betrayal, book two in the Hidden Truths series. The characters, sexy, flawed, and guarded, the scenarios intense and full of suspense. The combination makes for some amazing attraction and instant chemistry, two people fighting for their lives and leaning on each other to ignore reality. I really enjoyed the concept of terrorism, running from the agency you expect to protect you, and finding a hot Irishman to help protect you. Ava is strong, she’s nerdy, she’s shy, but she’s also incredibly beautiful and determined, a combination Aiden can’t ignore. Aiden, our man of secrets, brings a lot of action to this book, both during fight scenes and bedroom scenes. He’s got a rough family past that he hangs onto, military memories he can’t let go of, and a secret that twists the entire story up. I really enjoyed the constant flow of feelings from both characters and both of their desires to fight whats going on between them, but being stuck so close together that they have to face them head on.
While this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. I found myself wanting to know about the previous book’s characters, Michael and Kate, so I will be going back to read it. There is a lot going on in this book, as long as terrorism doesn’t spook you, it’s definitely a worthy read. Brittney has done her research, created an incredibly believable plot with a wide range of characters, and I really recommend it.
It was good reading
It was a great book to escape. I like the adventure and characters were fun.
Good grief, I need more Aiden! Flew through this book and was sad when it ended.
