Doctor by day.
Vigilante by night.
Robert lives a double life in New York City. He spends his days treating patients at the St. Jude’s Hospital ER and his nights going after the psychopaths who wrong them: the child molesters, wife beaters, and rapists. But when the fiery, beautiful new social worker discovers his secret identity and their love affair takes off, Robert is forced to face some hard … hard questions:
Do the ends justify the means?
After years of hunting down psychopaths, is Robert turning into one himself?
An action thriller with strong, distinct characters, filled with suspense and surprise, Dr. Vigilante is also a love story unfolding amid the turmoil and drama of a busy ER.

Great fast reading story line
I highly recommend this story, especially if you enjoy seeing the bad guy get his due. If only Dr. Vigilante and Dexter could team up and clean up the world we might be in a better place.
Fast easy read I really enjoyed. Little bits of doctor stuff. Clashing social issues and a story line that could be. Easy quick and fun. Its why I read fiction.
I enjoyed reading this book. It was predictable but kept me interested. Haven’t started the second book but hoping is as good as the first book.
disappointing
I could not put this book down. It kept me focused till the end. Then I went right to the second in the series.
Original, exciting, storyline that jumps from emergency room action to night time street action. These jumps are so well written and tied together that I looked forward to reading the Dr.’s moves. He’s sworn to save lives, but he believes he’s doing what’s best for society. Add a little romance and you have an excellent book with wonderful characters and exciting storyline. I couldn’t stop turning pages and the end is a real tense grabber. Read it to see what I mean, it is well worth it.
Nice couple of twists in the ending.
Excellent read. I just purchased the sequel.
Alberto Hazan has done what might seem impossible. He has educated people in a format that they will turn to instead for entertaining reading. While a bit of the scenario is far-fetched, it is FICTION for goodness sake. Wish this would be turned into an action movie and be seen by every single person in the US. The problems and conflicts “Dr. Vigilant” deals with are not unique to NYC or LA – they are “EVERYWHERE, USA.” While no one can possibly do everything “Dr. Vigilante” does and be everywhere he is – it is nice to imagine this as being possible. It is also great to think that there are people in the professions who have not lost touch with compassionate action. While Hazan entertains and educates, he makes something possible that is called “upstreaming.” . This is essentially mobilizing professionals and individuals to work to cure the sources of problems rather than trying to deal with the endpoint results of these. An alternate means of upstreaming is presented by his love interest, the social worker. Keep up the good work, Hazan. For what it’s worth, as soon as I finished this book I went immediately to the second in the series. I think you will too.
Robert endeavors to get justice for those too weak to get it for themselves. I applaud his efforts but am ambivalent about the method.
It sort of meandered. The main character was kind of unbelievable. He was too young to have acquired all of the skills he displayed. It was ok to read. The fight scenes were compelling. Give it a try, but don’t expect too much.
Just plain GREAT!!
