Things are heating up for the Sinclair boys! With one already in the NHL, Jayden Sinclair is hoping to be next!
This has been the toughest year of my life. I watched my brother go into the draft without me, my mom got divorced, and the weight of my family’s issues is heavy on my shoulders. I feel like it’s my job to fix everything while working my butt off in school and trying to make my game … my game better. I have to go into the draft. It will give my family the support they need, and it will prove that I’m good enough. But to get there, I have to show I can be the best captain for the Bellevue Bullies. The spot is mine—no one can take it. First though, Jude is making me go on a brother’s weekend. Innocent enough, I guess…until I see her. She’s the biggest competitor I’ve ever faced. Not only for my spot but also my heart. It’s hard to ignore someone like Baylor Moore.

I don’t lose. I can’t. My dad has bred me to be the best in anything I do. I am driven, I am smart, and I am going to be the first woman in the National Hockey League. No two ways about it. I’ve worked too hard. I’ve been through too much not to have what I want. I know I can do it. I will make my dad proud, and no one will stand in the way of that. That is, until I let him in. He scares me. He makes me feel. And he could very well be the one person who can make me want more than just to win.
We both have the same goal. Victory. But how do you compete against the person you want to win? It’s not easy. Love isn’t something you can control. It isn’t like a puck that can be handled by a stick. No, it has a mind of its own and does what it wants.
Neither of us saw it coming, and we really don’t know if there is a way to score, especially when you’re being Clipped by Love.

Read with Rating in 2015. Written Review added 2021:
I read the beginning of the Bellevue Bullies series in 2015 when I was providing a rating only and not providing written reviews. If and when I re-read this series, I will provide a more formal review. However, the rating was accurate at the time and I totally love Aleo’s writing style and the entire series. It’s a college sports series based on the hockey team the Bellevue Bullies.
Clipped by Love was the second book in the Bellevue Bullies Series and a spin off from Toni Aleo’s Assassins series, an NHL based series. I loved both series. I highly recommend all of Aleo’s original and spin off series: The Assassins, The Bellevue Bullies, Nashville Assassins Next Generation, and The Ice Cats.
Jayden Sinclair and Baylor Moore met at the beach in Florida.
Jayden: there with his brothers, Jude and Jace, for one last hoorah before, Jude starts his career in the NHL, and he and Jace go back to school and wait for hockey season to start. Then the Hockey draft.
Baylor: a serious female hockey player, with her sight set on the NHL. There with her friends Delanie and Mandie, taking a few days off from training on the ice, so she can go and enjoy herself away from her dad.
Challenges, there are so many challenges, but that’s who they are. They argue over everything from hockey to love.
Those challenges may have torn them apart.
Toni Aleo, brought Clipped By Love as the second book in the Bellevue Bullies Series, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
‘Clipped by Love’ is the second book of ‘Bellevue Bullies’ and it is one of my all time favorite sports romance books. Hero of the book is my favorite Sinclair: Jayden and he is also my favorite hero in both ‘Assassins’ and ‘Bellevue Bullies’ series.
Jayden Sinclair is the middle of the Sinclair brothers. He is loving, thoughtful, and loyal. He is the fixer; he supports and tries to protect everyone he loves. He is also a hottie His parents’ divorce affected him more than he lets anyone see. He is focused on hockey, school and his family. He wants to get in to NHL so he can support his mother financially. He wants to become the best captain Bellevue Bullies ever had and does everything to achieve this. So when Jude offers to spend a weekend in Florida as brothers before the school and NHL season starts, they are all on board. When their weekend starts, Jayden realizes that it wasn’t what he imagined it would be because Jace is constantly trying to get laid, while Jude texts Claire non-stop. Everything changes for Jayden when a girl crashes their street hockey game.
Baylor Moore is beautiful, strong, smart, and focused. She works really hard in order to become the first woman in NHL. When she is not playing hockey, she is socially awkward and insecure. Her friends convince her to take the weekend off from her training before the school starts so that they can have a girl’s trip to Florida. Even though, she promises she won’t talk about hockey all weekend, she cannot stop herself to join Sinclair brothers’ street hockey game.
Street hockey becomes like foreplay for Jayden and Baylor. After the game one thing led to another and by the help of alcohol, Baylor and Jayden shares a lot of things nobody knows about and it is really sweet. But everything goes to sh*t when Jayden tries to be a gentleman but end up being an a..hole. They both think they will never see each other again but that changes when Baylor’s dad, who is also a hockey coach, accepts the job offer from Bellevue Bullies.
The moment Jayden sees Baylor, everything they share comes back rushing. Even though, he’s not looking for a girlfriend, he cannot stop attraction and fascination he feels towards Baylor. On the other hand, because of how their Florida encounter ended, Baylor feels rejected and refuses to lower her guard towards him. She is a pro at pushing people away and not letting anyone get close to her. But soon Jayden and rest of her teammates will make her realize that in order to succeed, she needs her teammates and their friendship. I loved how Baylor and Jayden challenge each other and bring out the best in each other and it was great how their relationship evolved and how they both helped each other to heal and become better.
‘Clipped by Love’ is emotional, steamy and fun read. One of my favorite moments in the book is Jude and Claire’s wedding. Other than being an emotional scene that brought me into tears, I had a chance to read a bit about my other favorite couples Elli & Shea and Phillip & Reese. If you enjoy sports romance and didn’t read any of the ‘Assassins’ or ‘Bellevue Bullies’ books, it is not late to start
Would I recommend this book: Yes.
Would I re-read this book: Already did.
Would I read future books by this author: Yes.
