In Alive, Scott Sigler introduced readers to an unforgettable young heroine and a mysterious new world reminiscent of those of The Hunger Games, Divergent, and Red Rising. Now he expands his singular vision in the next thrilling novel of this powerful sci-fi adventure series.“If it’s war they want, they messed with the wrong girl.” M. Savage—or Em, as she is called—has made a bewildering and … Savage—or Em, as she is called—has made a bewildering and ominous discovery. She and the other young people she was chosen to lead awoke in strange coffins with no memory of their names or their pasts. They faced an empty, unknown place of twisting tunnels and human bones. With only one another to depend on, they searched for answers and found the truth about their terrifying fate. Confronted by a monstrous enemy, they vowed never to surrender—and, by any means, to survive.
The planet Omeyocan may be the sanctuary Em and her comrades seek. But the planet for which they were created turns out not to be a pristine, virgin world. Vestiges of a lost civilization testify to a horrifying past that may yet repeat itself. And when a new enemy creeps from the jungle shadows, Em and her young refugees learn there’s nowhere left to run. They face a simple choice: fight or die.
In the midst of this desperate struggle, their unity is compromised from within—and a dangerous zealot devoted to a bloodthirsty god moves to usurp Em’s command, threatening to lead them all down a path to violent doom.
Praise for Scott Sigler’s Alive
“Suspenseful . . . [Alive] lives up to its hype, packing plenty of thrills. . . . A page-turner that whets the appetite for volume 2.”—Entertainment Weekly
“Fascinating and intriguing . . . a cross between Lord of the Flies and The Maze Runner and yet . . . so much more.”—Fresh Fiction
“A ripping, claustrophobic thunderbolt of a novel.”—Pierce Brown, New York Times bestselling author of Red Rising
“Unstoppable and real, M. Savage is one hell of a heroine. Get ready to be left breathless.”—Kristin Cast, New York Times bestselling author of the House of Night series
“Sigler has created a wonderful and engrossing character in M. Savage. Strong and smart, but with the naïveté and misgivings of any teenage girl, she’s someone you’ll definitely want on your side when s**t hits the fan, which it most certainly does.”—Veronica Belmont, host of Sword & Laser
“The puzzle unfolds masterfully, right down to the last page.”—Phil Plait, PhD, author of Bad Astronomy

Em and the others from the Xolotl have landed on the planet Omeyocan and must now work together to find food and explore the land. They find many drawings on buildings that suggest that the Grownups lived there at one time. They also find that Omeyocan is already inhabited. Now Em and the others must learn how to get along with the planets tribe and keep one of their own from destroying them all. Plus, are the Grownups really gone?
Alight moves along at a very steady pace. It starts off where the first book ended, so the reader hasn’t missed anything. It’s almost confusing at times because the group has only been “alive” for a few days, but they are all maturing quickly as their makers memories come back. The species they find on Omeyocan are interesting and advanced. I really liked them. It’s a great story about a group of “kids” who try to become who they want to be instead of who they were born and programmed to be. I look forward to reading the last book in the trilogy, but I hope the author goes into more detail about why the Grownups left Omeyocan and what actually happened on the Xolotl. There are many unanswered questions.
Scott Sigler is wrecking my heart in the best way possible with this series.
Alight is grittier than Lord of the Flies and almost as ruthless as Red Rising, but damn good all the same. I can’t get enough of these characters and the story Scott Sigler weaves together to make the Generations Trilogy. I was sweating with anticipation, boiling with rage, and heart racing with fear of the unknown path my favorite characters would take. I could not put this book down for one second.
Alight picks up where Alive left off and it jumps right into the mix of things. Em and the rest of Birthday children try to understand Omeyocan and the city they landed in. As Em tries to find food and protect everyone, danger lurks in every corner, even within the ship she aims to protect. In this book we learn bits and pieces about the Grownups and some of their past, but we also see Em develop so much as a character as tries to be more than her symbol(which gets explained). Em also is battling with the person Matilda was and choosing to be herself, something new from something old. She gets testing in so many ways, including her friendships as others start to recover memories from their progenitors. I still loved O’Malley, Bishop, Spingate, and Gaston. I still hate Aramovsky with a passion and it gets even worse in this book. Oh the rage I fell towards this boy.
The story gets even better in this book and will take some unexpected turns. I fell more in love with this book with every page. I can’t wait to read Alone. I’m almost sad its coming to a close, but I know with the mind boggling ended of Alight, Alone is going to be a shitstorm I will gladly jump into.
